Forget the 2016 (or previous) reviews. (Maybe) then it was worth a 4/5 B&B (don't call it hotel, not here, nor anywhere), but not anymore. Location is not particularly good (about 15 minutes walking) from the nearest metro station), but tolerable, with many restaurant options in the neighborhood. Wifi is OK. And then come the cons. The overall offer is awful: you literally enter a 30Y condo apartment, in which you will get 1 room (of 3). Everything seems to be stucked in the 80's: furniture is decadent, holes in the wall and dowels as proofs of ancient stuff hanging for some unknown reason, window not closing properly, sweetening the noise coming from the pub below. 1 shared bathroom, cleaned once a day (at least, this is what it seemed). Breakfast? Oh, yeah! Pick your voucher, go to a roulette external pub and secure 1 croissant and 1 hot drink. Period. There is a coffee machine at the aisle, but no coffee. And tea bags, but no hot water. For 70+ eur a night they have to do more to earn my vote...

Clean and welcoming, like coming home. We have visited Rome twice, staying here both times. The kind and generous owners are so very helpful and fun! We just love them! They live on-site, so are nearly always available. Magda is so very attentive! The rooms are always clean and tidy, wonderfully decorated. The bathroom is clean and well-equipped. Breakfast is delicious with pastries, yogurt, and seasonal fruit. We love staying here and will be back!!❤❤❤

My family and I stayed in this B&B for a week and it's safe to say we enjoyed every minute of it. The owners are extremely kind and take good pride in the B&B as it's very clean. There were often times in which we would have to leave the hotel extremely early to visit different cities, the owners would provide us with an early breakfast nevertheless. The service is adjusted to your needs so no need to worry. The breakfast was a smaller delicacy than we are used to but that didn't bother us as it was really tasty (especially the hot croissants)! Do not be put away by the fact that the bathroom is shared, it's kept clean at all times; you can't even tell it's been used by others. Overall we had a really good time, a good nights sleep every night and plenty of laughs along the way; would definitely stay again. My family and I are Polish but live in England so we're fluent in both, you may struggle if you don't speak Italian or Polish as there is a little language barrier but I'm sure it wouldn't be that big of a problem, the owners try their best to understand and support you. Thank you for a great time! Mateusz Miloszewski and family.

My firend and I stayed in the room with a balcony and it was just a great experience. The hotel is located on the 4th floor and has 3 rooms and one shared bathroom which was not a problem at all. It was always cleaned. Our room was cleaned, comfy and was pretty enough for us when we basically just slept there and travelled around the city every day. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, the lady has done the late check in with us because our flight was delayed and we woke her up with ringing the bell at 3AM. She is Polish and barely speaks and understands English so we were talking mostly Czech and Polish, how funny :)) Breakfast is pretty simple, jogurt, cereals, toast and croissants every day but the coffee machine is very good :) and there is also one cool breakfast place on the corner. The location is just perfect, 20 min of walk to Colosseum, 15 mins of walk to get to the metro and bus station. We have also experienced the earthquake there, in the morning when the building started to shake for at least 1 min. it was scary and the lady helped us to calm down! I would highly recommend this place for the ones who is looking for calm accommodation :)

We stayed for 4 nights in the "purple" room. It was very big and we even had our own little breakfast table by the window which was very charming. The breakfast buffet is minimal (pastries, yogurt) but there is an espresso machine which we loved. The bathroom is shared but it wasn't a problem since there are only 3 rooms in this little B&B. The bed was comfortable and while there was no air conditioning, it didn't get too hot with the ceiling fan and windows fully open. The location is great, just a 10-15min walk to the Colosseum. Definitely recommend this place!

I just adored the place, splendid location and best price. The owners are kind and helpful, even though there is a slight language barrier. The couple are sweet and nice, if a bit comical with the language barrier. They are like distant relatives who want help you get around town. The Colosseum is a little bit of a walk away, very safe with the ruins lit up at night. Yes, there are bars and restaurants on the corner of the block but if you've been to Hollywood, San Francisco or Manhattan, then this is nothing to worry about the noise level. Earplugs if you are sensitive but never worn them here. This is the best deal and the nicest folks you'll meet in Rome ;)

Super clean and comfortable rooms. The hosts were super helpful and very nice. Would definitely stay here again as its far enough away from the verycrowded places but only a 20 minute walk away from the major sights of ancient Rome. Thank you again.

Nice location, clean room, very comfortable beds, amazing breakfast, very kind hosts. Everything you dream of on your first Rome trip. I would highly recommend staying here. My electric converter didn't work so I asked the host where I can purchase them, and she let me borrow her own, so I could charge my electric devices my entire trip. This kind of small detail, you will not find else where. Only downside was that you could hear the noise outside with windows closed. Other than that, I would definitely stay here when I go back to Rome again.

I can only say good things about this place. Mario picked us up from the airport and also drove us back very early in the morning when we had to leave for our flight! Magdalena and Mario were amazing and breakfast was always fresh, our room was big and homely and the bathroom was clean! We had access to free wifi and the location is perfect. It is close to a park (perfect if you like to go for a run in the mornings) and only 20 minutes walking distance from the colosseum! I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to everyone who travels to Rome. Thank you again. i give you 5 stars!!!

just arrived back from a short break in Rome and our stay at the Stella di Roma was a rather mixed blessing. The hosts Mario and his wife were not there when we arrived and the person who greeted us had no English at all so we had to wait for our hosts to arrive before we could check anything out. When they did arrive they were very pleasant and showed us our room and gave us a map of the city with pinpoints of various attractions one expects to see in Rome.our host Mario was ok with English but his wife had very limited English and was unable to understand us. The rooms were spacious and very clean, although somewhat minimal. Also if you are a light sleeper the sounds of traffic and locals enjoying drinks across the road until 3am then this may not be the place to stay if you like to sleep ! Also the sirens on ambulances are particularly noisy and quite frequent! Breakfast was served outside the room , you go and help yourself, fresh croissants daily, juice, bread and jams were on offer and fresh tea and coffee. The room we stayed in was directly by the breakfast bar so other guests were outside the room which can be noisy if you have had a late night. The shared bathroom was clean and the shower worked ok, bit of a pain as the other rooms were occupied so it was everyone for themselves to use the bathroom in the morning! The walk to the colosseum we were told would take 10 minutes, it's actually nearer 20-30 depending on how fit and young you are ! The metro is a 15-20 walk and despite what we had heard was fairly easy to use to get us to the main attractions. An all day ticket cost 7 euros, so you can hop on and off . Be warned it does get extremely busy especially at the airport stop so keep your wits and valuables about you at all times . We must recommend a local bar we found on our first night called the buda bar restaurant, Andrew and his wife were fantastic hosts , sat with us and offered drinks and snacks at no extra cost, brilliant first night in Rome ! The bar is in the next street to the hotel. La Stella di Roma is ideal if you just want somewhere to rest your head , although I'm not sure I would stay there again if I came back to Rome .
