First time to Rome, family of four. I guess this is typical of hotels in this area - small, functional, very close location to terminal, restaurants, small shops. The general area looks seedy but we were told it's safe in general and this was our experience. At night, saw 1 or 2 prostitutes around the block but nothing really disturbing, they don't approach anyone. Bathroom was ok, the one we got was nothing like you see here, it had a combination shower/tub but clean and functional. There were frequent power outages (lasted seconds) during one of our days in the early morning. There is one tiny elevator which could fit 1 person and their luggage, but fortunately our room was only in the second floor so we used the stairs. The breakfast area is nice but small - could be a bit of a wait if busy. The included breakfast is average, not a lot of selections. Overall, the hotel is clean but could use some remodel. The staff was excellent, from front desk, bartenders, housekeeping - they were all pleasant and responsive. If only for this reason, I would give another star but overall, just average.
This hotel was average and near the train station which is convenient. The breakfast was pretty good and they had a nice happy hour with yummy snacks. The rooms are small in typical European fashion. The shower was good and the beds were uncomfortable.
Ariston Hotel was a pleasure to stay in for our short stay in Rome The welcome was extremely friendly, and we were made to feel very welcome. The room was in a very good condition, breakfast was good, and the happy hour was amazing!!! The location was brilliant - less than 5min walk to the man in train station, and easy enough to get around Rome from there. Any questions though, the hotel reception will be more than happy to recommend places and help. Our only downside was the location when searched in the maps app on the phone, brings up another location. This needs sorting.
Great location, just 2 minutes from main railway / bus station, so very convenient for metro, airport shuttles, as well as hop on, hop off bus routes. Plenty of restaurants and small shops nearby. Reception was always staffed and all requests were dealt with promptly, efficiently and in a friendly manner. Our airline e-mailed the hotel our boarding passes for our return flight and they were happy to print them for us, which was very helpful. There is a range of complementary hot and cold drinks and pastries available in reception during the morning and early afternoon - a nice touch! We were on the first floor overlooking a busy restaurant, but there was very little street noise and we could sleep undisturbed. Outside temperatures were in the high 30s but the aircon was highly efficient and, although not silent, didn’t disturb us. Breakfast was excellent - probably the best mass-catered scrambled egg possible in a busy hotel, with great pastries, cooked meats, fruit, cereals, yogurts, juices. Various teas and coffees were also available and the pleasant staff helped with requests for anything not immediately available. There were hot and cold options for vegetarians. Being served from 6.45 until 10.30, there was rarely a crush, although we heard that it was sometimes difficult to find a seat at around 9.00, but we had finished by then, so I can’t really comment on that. Our room had everything it needed - a safe, fridge, TV, phone, toiletries and just about enough wardrobe space. The ‘double’ bed was 2 singles pushed together, each with its own sheets, but it was reasonably comfortable. The shutters and curtains were effective in blocking out the early-morning sun. Wi-fi worked without interruption. One day the maid didn’t clean the room, but this wasn’t really a problem, so we didn’t even mention it at reception. We were warned on checking in that the tourist tax of 6 Euros per person per day would need to be paid in cash at the end of our stay, so remember that if you have a long stay and are starting to run short of cash! I note that some reviews describe the area as ‘rough’ and mention the presence of prostitutes in the street. Don’t let this put you off - we spent 4 nights there and the couple of prostitutes nearby kept themselves to themselves and ‘rough’? This is near the main railway station and sure, there are some homeless people and beggars hanging around, but we were never once accosted and didn’t feel uncomfortable in the slightest. I certainly recommend this hotel.
Hotel was okay but the area at night was sketchy. Even during the day the area was not the greatest. How close it was to the Metro and train station was great but spend the money and take Uber especially at night
This hotel is extremely close to Termini train station, which allowed us to walk there to and from our hotel in approx 2-3 minutes. This was convenient for catching a train to the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, Vatican City, and to our next destination- Florence. The hotel bar has a Happy Hour event each evening-buy a drink for $5 and you can eat all you wish from the buffet for free. This buffet had many local dishes- pizza, mini sandwiches, bruschetta, etc- and the variety changed daily. The rooms were somewhat bigger than a typical european hotel room, and the staff in the lobby were always helpful. And having coffee and spa water near the front desk was a welcome sight when returning to the hotel after a long day of touring. The breakfast each morning was wonderful, offering so many choices including several juices, pastries, meats, eggs, fruits... There is no way anyone could ever leave hungry! My only slightly less than five stars comment: although the hotel is very convenient for the train station, it is slightly away from the city center where most tourist sites are located. We did walk to Trevi fountain and the Pantheon, but it was probably 1.5 miles away.
Hotel is located close to Termini station. We felt welcomed and comfortable in this hotel. Staff are approchable and will try help you. Our rooms were clean. Our daughter said if she comes back to Rome, this is the hotel she would stay at.. loved the breakfast too
The staff at the Ariston Hotel was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spacious enough for our family of four and the breakfast served each morning offered a great variety of items (something for everyone). The hotel was close to the train station/subway (Rome Termini) so this was a huge convenience factor.
This location is located right by the main terminal which makes it convenient, but it wasn't as comfortable as other places we'd stayed in Italy. First, we weren't able to have our two room adjacent to each other and travelling as a family of six that is important. They only issue one key per room which makes it difficult to manage when travelling as a family. The staff were professional and the breakfast was actually really good each day. The rooms were clean but there was mold in the showers. Rome is noisy so you'll hear it all, especially the late night street vendors and restaurants closing down. Be prepared for the Rome room tax as it is required when checking out.
Clean and comfortable hotel centrally located and very close to the Termini train station. Rooms feature modern decor and all the amenities. Large breakfast buffet offering up all types of options. Would not hesitate to stay again.
