For a budget hotel, I guess it's okay. But the hostel I stayed in Milan was cleaner. The room I was in smelled like smoke, or maybe the neighbors were smoking next to me and I would wake up smelling it in the middle of the night. Hard to sleep! Also, queen bed in my room was actually two twin mattresses shoved together so it was really awkward to sleep. I also booked a room for 2 occupants, and when the 2nd occupant arrived they gave us a lot of trouble, trying to charge us extra. The staff overall were really helpful in showing me the best areas to see on the map and the location is good. For solo travel, I thought it was a good hotel to maybe meet some people but I hardly saw anybody! I thought that was a bit weird.

Yes the rooms are just the space you need and nothing more...but considering the price and location I did not feel I was owed any more. The room was clean, the wifi excellent, the location amazing, and the breakfast good. Because it is in the thick of things you are mainly outside your room anyway but if you want to return for a nap (or to drop off shopping ;-) it is not to far from many attractions to do so and get back out there later on. A safe area and well connected by cabs and subway I will certainly come back

The hotel is centrally sited just off the Via Nazionale which is a busy shopping street. If you are looking for a base within easy walking distance of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and several of the other big ticket items the Virgilio is a decent choice. We had a double room on the first floor. It wasn’t too cramped, had a modern working safe and an ancient non-working Smeg fridge. Not a major issue on a two night stay in November. Bathroom was clean and big enough with a shower cubicle, wc, basin and bidet. Breakfast was included and was a buffet style in one of two small rooms downstairs. The usual cold items, some meats, pastries, fruit and yoghurts. A pancake warmer and 3 cooked items, bacon, scrambled egg and sausage pieces. Not extensive but very reasonable fuel for the day. Plenty of staff constantly refilling food as it ran out. Overall, a good experience. I would stay again.

Booked a package holiday so was disappointed when we arrived to the news that we possibly had the smallest double room in the hotel. The shower isn't the biggest and the pressure wasn't great. The location is great for the attractions The Wi-Fi is superb The breakfast was great. The staff were helpful and polite. Tourist tax = €24 for 3 nights Room had a locker and fridge but no tea/coffee making facilities. We had room 208. Which was quite noisy from outside. The hotel is very clean and tidy.

Very good hotel in the heart of Rome the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is very good as well. I will recommend this hotel even if you are visiting with family very friendly staff and helpful. The Wi-Fi is free as well

Had three night stay. Very friendly, helpful staff. Room comfortable. Situation great for sightseeing. Just disappointed with breakfast i.e the variety, but would be happy to use again.Close to trevi fountain,Parthenon, Colosseum.

The hotel is convenient, about a 10 minute walk to the main areas in Rome. I would stay here if you are sightseeing throughout the day and need a place to lay your head at the end of the day and are on a small-medium budget. We paid €300 for 4 nights B&B. However it is down a dark street which can feel a little unsafe at night but there are restaurants close by. Basic, small bedroom and bathroom, bed was quite uncomfortable. Breakfast was fine, standard selection but when it is busy (every morning) there is no system in place and the small room gets crowded.

We stayed for 3 nights and used their taxi booking service for the airport transfer. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean and quiet. All the staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast choice was good with excellent coffee. The best thing really was the location- only a short walk to all the major sites and nice cafes and restaurants. (And shops although that wasn't on our list of to dos). Would definitely choose it again or recommend to friends and family.

Avoid room 218 as the noise from next doors toilet was horrendous. It sounded as though an avalanche of water was coming into our room every time they flushed. We could also hear the rooms above. It woke us up every morning at 6.30 and during the night if they went to the toilet. Tea facilities would make the room a lot better.Staff were lovely. Variety at breakfast but the hot food was only luke warm. Handy for some of the sites.

We came here for a short vacation. The hotel is within the heart of rome. We managed to visit the top attractions on foot from the location of the hotel. Nearby there are good restaurants and shops. The staff are so nice and helpful. The hotel is clean and has good breakfast.
