Hotel Virgilio was the perfect launching point for an epic weekend spent in Rome. As two college age girls, we were delighted to find a clean, safe, centrally located hotel with included breakfast (we made the most of those chocolate scones and coffee). While the rooms were a bit dated and the shower sprayed water onto the floor of the bathroom, the room was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the hallways were positively gleaming! Walking on marble makes everything better, and this is no exception. The staff was helpful, kind, and informative. Breakfast, while served in a slightly outdated room, was delicious, free, and filling, albeit not the most nutritious. We were within walking distance of everything, including the train station, and never felt the need to use any sort of public transportation while in Rome. Perhaps one of the greatest things about HV however, was the proximity to a Conad; we were located so close to a Conad (I could write a separate review about my love for this grocery chain). Long story short, HV is a charming, safe, clean hotel with gleaming hallways fit for Virgil. You cannot go remiss staying here! (Just be prepared to fall asleep in a room that looks like it is from the 1970's, which for us was a fun way to experience history)

I found this hotel on TA and booked it after reading reviews. I was not disappointed. Based on it's price it is a good hotel and good value. On arrival we were dealt with in a friendly way by the reception and shown to our room by the bell-boy. Fortunately he and I both spoke Spanish so could converse. The first-floor room itself was not large and the décor was dull but was clean and in a good condition. The internal bathroom was also clean and was bright and modern. The window looked out into a courtyard. Not an attractive view but then I didn't spend time looking out of the window! Our disappointment was having no tea making facilities in the room as we cannot do without a cuppa first thing! Someone on TA had said there were facilities so we hadn't taken our kettle. Breakfast is served in the basement which is reached by stairs or lift. There is a small but adequate buffet and the staff there are also friendly. The location of this hotel is very good. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants and is very near shops of all types on via Nazionale. It is only a 25 minute walk to the main attractions, e.g. Piazza Venezia, Colosseum and Forum and perhaps 45 minutes to St Peters. The Trevi Fountain is even closer. Other than the tea-making situation in the room we have absolutely no complaints and have already recommended the hotel to a friend going to Rome later this year.

The rooms are a bit dated, but spotless, great bathroom facilities. We stayed with our two kids in a quadruple room, plenty of room, two bathrooms, really, really clean throughout. Superb location, 15 mins walk max to Colloseum, close to shops and other facilities too. Really friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast buffet.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. Its location is perfect - you can walk to every "must" site, or if you rather, there are close transportation stations nearby (bus, train, metro..). The whole staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and kind - they definitely added to our good experience at the hotel. The breakfast was also good and delicious(though It should be noticed that if there is too many people at the hotel, the breakfast room could get crowded sometimes). The main disadvantage of the hotel is the fact that the rooms aren't soundproof. We could hear every single noise in the room next to us and outside. Luckily, those who were next to us didn't make any noise in unreasonable hours and the outside area was relatively quiet, but I guess it could differ in each case.

Very nice and helpful staff: we got a lot of help with our luggages and flight check-in. We did not really care about the room, we visited Rome for sightseeing and went to the hotel to sleep. :) And acually all famous places are very close to the hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Virgilio in January of this year, 2018 for 4 nights. Their location and price can't be beaten. We were able to walk there from the Roma Termini train station with our rolling bags with no trouble. All the historic center sites are within walking distance, though some days were long walks. The staff were always nice, professional, and available. Breakfast was very good with a great cappuccino machine and hot eggs and bacon. The facility is VERY old, but quaint and functional. WiFi good, everything you need.

It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. Nice price, nice people and close to the most important places like Coloseum or Forum Romanum. Hotel needs refreshment but it's not a big problem with this price ;-) Tasty, varied breakfast - delicious! :-) We will come back for sure! :-)

It was my first visit to Rome and I read lots of negative reviews about the location of Termini area before I went there. When I arrived at the hotel in the evening, I felt relieved because there is nothing to worry about the area of the hotel. We didn't have any safety problems during our stay there. The only negative thing can be the noise of the cars, especially early in the morning but it's a common problem everywhere in Rome :) Anyway my son and I stayed there for four days and we were really pleased. It's a walking distance from Colosseum or Trevi Fountain and many other tourist attractions. We only took the metro to go to Vatican City, which is also easy to go from Termini station. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is really good and the coffee is perfect. There are many restaurants and mini markets around the hotel. All in all it was a nice and comfortable stay for us after getting tired of visiting every corner of Rome.

We booked this hotel because it was a very good price. We weren't expecting too much but we were very pleasantly surprised. It's in a great location, is kept spotlessly clean, has helpful staff and for the price provides a great breakfast. OK some of the rooms are small but this said our friends got a pretty large room so it could be the luck of the draw. That said we were only in the room to sleep and get showered and changed before an evening out. Also the breakfast area can feel a little crowded depending on the time you visit. The major attractions, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Pantheon, forum and coliseum are all around ten minutes walk away and there are many restaurants close at hand. We will definitely go back to Rome and will use this hotel again.

Beautiful hotel close to all the most important tourist attractions. The walls are pretty thin so if you're like us and plan on going drinking until late, you might recieve some complaints because of the noise but it's cheap and i imagine it is perfect for family vacations!
