Me and my wife had the great pleasure to stay at this hotel 3 nights in the end of april-18. We did not expect this service and fasilities. Wonderful hotel staff, Nice and clean room, simple but good breakfast. What is not to like when a smiling italien kitchen wishes You a good morning and the doubble espresso is almost ready. Brilliant hotel and staff. Just in the middle of everything. We will book this hotel next time as well. I have looked over most of the comments about this hotel. Very few are negative. Among those who are, many could never be satisfied if the hotel got 5 stars. Christian and Maj, Norway
This hotel was in a fantastic location in the middle of everything with easy access to transport routes. The hotel was very welcoming and we were given lots of information about Rome when we arrived. Our room was small but it was clean. The beds weren’t comfy and we did need to ask for more pillows but as soon as we asked a staff member brought some to our rooms. The only thing the room needed was tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was good with a wide range of choices (the pastries were amazing). The staff was excellent and I have absolutely no complaints on this.
We have enjoyed our stay at Virgilio. First of all it's in the very center, not far away from Via Nazzionale where there are lots of shops. Also, you can walk to all attractions! We liked the food - excellent breakfast, the rooms were comfortable and it is extremely clean!!! The staff is helpful and speaks English. Tours are also offered. Highly recommend. If I had to go to Rome again I would choose virgilio.
Near bus station to Vatican and super market. Nice people in reception. Friendly staff. Near the hotel Illy café and good restaurants. 10 minutes for walk to old town. Shops and monuments you can see buy fit.
Stayed at the hotel virgilio for 3 nights a Christmas present from our son, well done him !! It is in a great location , rooms basic but had everything we needed (apart from a kettle) , cleaned everyday , nice fresh towels daily , the breakfast was lovely and on until 10 o clock so no need to rush. The deal breaker for me was the staff, everyone we came into contact with was friendly, polite and very helpful . Would recommend to anyone going for a short break in Rome.
Based on the price, this hotel is worthy of 4 stars. Great location, in the heart of central Rome, only a 13 minute walk from the colosseum, within 3 minutes walking you can actually see the colosseum at the end of a long street. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained, the (en suite) bathroom was spacious, clean, fresh towels delivered everyday. Breakfast is 06:30 - 10:00 and there's a fair amount of options: breads, pastries, scrambled eggs, chicken sausages, salami, pork, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea etc. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi in our room was very strong I was able to watch YouTube videos with no buffering. The bad parts: 1) the shower took 4 minutes to warm up the first time I used it, but all other times it was fine. 2) The scrambled eggs at breakfast are a little too oily for my liking, but by all means edible. 3) Our "double bed" was actually two single beds pushed together. All in all, if you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Rome and you don't care about it being modern looking or being a 5 star hotel you can brag about, I would highly recommend Virgilio Hotel.
Hotel Virgilio was the perfect launching point for an epic weekend spent in Rome. As two college age girls, we were delighted to find a clean, safe, centrally located hotel with included breakfast (we made the most of those chocolate scones and coffee). While the rooms were a bit dated and the shower sprayed water onto the floor of the bathroom, the room was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the hallways were positively gleaming! Walking on marble makes everything better, and this is no exception. The staff was helpful, kind, and informative. Breakfast, while served in a slightly outdated room, was delicious, free, and filling, albeit not the most nutritious. We were within walking distance of everything, including the train station, and never felt the need to use any sort of public transportation while in Rome. Perhaps one of the greatest things about HV however, was the proximity to a Conad; we were located so close to a Conad (I could write a separate review about my love for this grocery chain). Long story short, HV is a charming, safe, clean hotel with gleaming hallways fit for Virgil. You cannot go remiss staying here! (Just be prepared to fall asleep in a room that looks like it is from the 1970's, which for us was a fun way to experience history)
I found this hotel on TA and booked it after reading reviews. I was not disappointed. Based on it's price it is a good hotel and good value. On arrival we were dealt with in a friendly way by the reception and shown to our room by the bell-boy. Fortunately he and I both spoke Spanish so could converse. The first-floor room itself was not large and the décor was dull but was clean and in a good condition. The internal bathroom was also clean and was bright and modern. The window looked out into a courtyard. Not an attractive view but then I didn't spend time looking out of the window! Our disappointment was having no tea making facilities in the room as we cannot do without a cuppa first thing! Someone on TA had said there were facilities so we hadn't taken our kettle. Breakfast is served in the basement which is reached by stairs or lift. There is a small but adequate buffet and the staff there are also friendly. The location of this hotel is very good. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants and is very near shops of all types on via Nazionale. It is only a 25 minute walk to the main attractions, e.g. Piazza Venezia, Colosseum and Forum and perhaps 45 minutes to St Peters. The Trevi Fountain is even closer. Other than the tea-making situation in the room we have absolutely no complaints and have already recommended the hotel to a friend going to Rome later this year.
The rooms are a bit dated, but spotless, great bathroom facilities. We stayed with our two kids in a quadruple room, plenty of room, two bathrooms, really, really clean throughout. Superb location, 15 mins walk max to Colloseum, close to shops and other facilities too. Really friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast buffet.
We stayed at the hotel for three nights. Its location is perfect - you can walk to every "must" site, or if you rather, there are close transportation stations nearby (bus, train, metro..). The whole staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and kind - they definitely added to our good experience at the hotel. The breakfast was also good and delicious(though It should be noticed that if there is too many people at the hotel, the breakfast room could get crowded sometimes). The main disadvantage of the hotel is the fact that the rooms aren't soundproof. We could hear every single noise in the room next to us and outside. Luckily, those who were next to us didn't make any noise in unreasonable hours and the outside area was relatively quiet, but I guess it could differ in each case.
