Excellent location and kind and supportive staff. Issues associated with the small stuff that make a hotel great . Chandelier in room not properly affixed to ceiling. Lampshades not appropriate for lamp. Bidets not properly cleaned for three days. One bar of soap provided and not replaced when at the nub. No tissues in dispenser for two days. Only one bottle of water provided for a suite during turndown service. Sink dripped water incessantly. Air conditioner was loud and insufficient during a heat wave. Just the small stuff.
For the past 30 years, I choose this hotel in the heart of Rome, to stay. It became a fantstic hotel since 1850 ! Near everything and the beauty of the building, makes your stay much more agreable! The bar, is a meeting place for all Romans who mingle with the tourists.. The excellet restaurant, , "Roman Garden", besides the food, the decoration with masterpeices, takes you back to a luxirous time...
In our quest for a new permanent Hotel for our frequent Rome stays we visited this very good situated traditional place. The impression we got after a guided tour through the hotel was a very good one .
The location is perfect for exploring most tourist attractions, go shopping and eating out. Service is very good and the concierge gave us great restaurant recommendations. Room is good size for Rome and was renovated, very comfortable and in the right temperature (it was really hot in Rome and it was lovely to enter our cold room), will definitely stay there again. Wifi worked very well.
The hotel is a block off of via del Condotti if you want to do upscale shopping and walk to the Spanish steps. It is about midway between Piazza del Popolo and the Verdi fountain. Both are about 10 blocks away. The closest subway terminal is Spagna at the top of the Spanish steps. However, Holy See and the Colosseum are much longer walks; so find a hop on hop off bus or other conveyance if you are a senior and adverse to walking. The wi-fi was reliable and adequately fast. It seemed that the hot water supply was inconsistent requiring attention to the mixing control in our shower. The worst thing was that around 9 PM on the 2nd night of our stay, a service lift parked beside our room, and elevated workmen to areas around our windows where they drilled and hammered into the night keeping us awake. The staff seemed both unwilling and incapable of finding us a quiet room. The staff advised us that this would continue for several more nights. Our room was vacated the next morning.
Customer service, 5 star. Perfectly located in the centre of Rome. Beautifully furnished and most welcoming. Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary while staying here. Made us feel very special and have come away with beautiful memories. Thank you. Most definitely would do a return visit.
I need to start the review by saying that the hotel staff were accommodating and tried everything they could to help. This was due to a booking for 2 x renovated rooms but only non renovated were available at the time of our arrival. Other rooms were offered and they did a great job in assisting. The hotel is very central. Walk to everything. Restaurants and designer shops all close by. Don't expect the hotel or rooms to be large, particularly like in Australia. This is a great hotel to introduce you to the atmosphere of Rome. The restaurant was fine, inside is small but you can sit outside also. Breakfast was ok and the staff helpful and ready to assist. Again, the location is fantastic.
Since our last sejour at this hotel some years ago the hotel continues to provide excellence all round. Reception staff led by Mr Massimo, are extremely helpful, organising guides, booking restaurants, hairdressers,.... Your wish is their command. Atop all this each and every guest is greeted by surname within minutes of arriving at reception making for a very personal feeling. The whole hotel experience made our stay in Rome a pure pleasure and brought back wonderful memories. We will return with pleasure hopefully in the not too distant future.
We believed positive feedback and decided to relax in this hotel. It turned out that we made a mistake. The hotel does not match its stars. Service is low. Even on vacation in Turkey, the service is better. The main and biggest minus is the power system. The restaurant is working disgusting. The food is monotonous, not tasty. The walls between the rooms are thin, perfectly audible, what the neighbors are talking about. Another minus the number. In them there is not a fading smell of dampness, old clothes, shabby. We have 2 times broken air conditioner. I had to wait an engineer for twenty-four hours. In this case, walk, walk, walk to the reception. Ask and ask ... In general, for the money that you give for visiting this hotel, you can find a great hotel! Just choose carefully.
We booked this hotel through Luxury Escapes and it exceeded all our expectations. It was so perfectly positioned close to the Spanish Steps and the great shopping in the surrounding area. Our room was good and the bed comfortable, breakfast was excellent and the dinner in the dining room together with a complementary cocktail, thanks to our special deal was fantastic. We have stayed previously in Rome but this was our best experience. The staff were polite, knowledgeable and efficient and we could not have wished for more.
