I had 24 hours in Rome, so I wanted to stay right near the train station to quickly drop my bag off and to easily get to the train the next morning. The hotel is a very quick 2 blocks walk from the train station. When I arrived early in the morning, the man at the front desk was very helpful and spoke English well. He checked me in, answered questions, and stored my bag for me. I was able to walk to see a lot of the attractions in the city. When I got back later, they had my room ready and it was really nice. The room was modern and impeccably clean. I got a really good price on it, so it was a great value. It seems like it might not always be as inexpensive though.

Stayed 3 nights in March 18. Very helpful friendly staff. Lovely modern room. Cleaned daily. Plenty of storage space. kettle and mugs only so take your own tea/coffee sachets if you fancy a cuppa. Good Wi-Fi. Lovely continental breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Ideal hotel, 5 minute walk to train/bus station. Within walking distance to the colosseum. Lovey, reasonable restaurant next door. Couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend.

Beware this hotel and avoid like the plauge. My wife and I checked in late and when we discovered that the shower door was broken, (which fell off and nearly injured me), it was reported the next morning to reception, who apologised and promised to get it fixed. We were left without a shower door until we checked out, but managed to use the shower, so thought nothing more of it. However, on rerturning home I was absolutely astounded to find that the hotel has since charged £200 to my credit card without my knowledge or authorisation. When queried, quite bizardly, they sent me a picture that they had taken, whilst we were out of the room, of a bottle of red wine that we had in the room, as some sort of accusation that we caused the hinge to break. If you do stay here, I would advise you to check everything in your room immediatley. It's a real shame as the location is good, but this underhand way of ripping people off after they have checked out has complelety ruined any good memories of Rome we had. Never again.

Stayed here last week for four nights & had a great time! Ok the rooms are not brilliant but for the money it’s very good value. Firstly its proximity to Termini Station is brilliant. You can get the tube to almost al of Rome from here .We found the staff extremely helpful & friendly. Reception staff especially so . Right next door is a fantastic restaurant, so good we went back twice. Recommend.

We had booked 4 nights with Hotel California from Thursday to Monday, but due to industrial action at Rome airport, our flights were delayed until Saturday to return on the Wednesday. I contacted the hotel to ask if the dates could be changed, but they informed us they could not be changed due to our booking being fixed at the time of the booking, which we understood so were happy to carry on with the 2 nights, Saturday to Monday. Upon arrival, the receptionist informed us that the accommodation had been cancelled, despite the fact we had contacted the hotel to inform them that we would be arriving Saturday. There was no effort from the staff or management to try and resolve this as clearly this was poor miscommunication between the staff of Hotel California, and the only solution was for us to to pay for the 2 nights again (as conveniently they had a room free until Monday which I presume was our original room). We were appalled at the service, mainly at the fact that we had no refund or any kind of assistance from the hotel and in effect had to pay for our room again. Location wise it is close to the train station and located well, and the rooms are tidy enough, but the way we were treated was not satisfactory, and therefore this is why I cannot recommend this hotel.

Do not let them make you stay on the 5th floor! This floors showers are outside of the bathroom and are completely transparent! I asked if I could change rooms because it was king of uncomfortable and they were booked for the night, so I was only able to change to another room on another floor the next day. This new room was a regular, clean, new room, nothing fancy but decent. The room on the 5th floor made me feel unsafe, it was very shady looking.

Room was clean, shower was clean and good water pressure. Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Breakfast was nice; meat, cheese, hot items and variety of juice/coffee. They allowed us to check out and leave our bags. Which was nice of the hotel to allow.

We Flew into Rome Via RyanAir for a little City Break. The Airport Ciampino is out of the City. after a 5 minute bus ride to the Train station and a short train ride into the Central station of Rome we had a 5 minute Walk to the Hotel. This is a great location as most tourist buses leave from the Station. The hotel had some of the best restaurants we found in Rome with traditional Italian food. and probably the best Pizza I had ever had. all at the front entrance of the hotel. All the amenities are close by. including a local supermarket. tourist shops etc. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was served in the Basement. I would highly recommend this hotel.

There's not a lot to see in the area, it is mostly eateries and souvenir shops. Don't let that put you off, Termini Station is about 200 metres away. It is a 20 minute walk from the Colliseum. The breakfast buffet is basic, but they do have a fantastic selection of cakes, if you have a sweet tooth. My only gripe with the hotel was, although there was a kettle and tea cups in the room, there was no coffee/tea/sugar/milk in the room. We asked about it, and they said that they did not provide it. I would have paid a few pound more for that service, as us Brits, we do love our tea.

This hotel is in a great location , literally a 3-4 minutes walk straight on from one of the exits of the Termini station, this mean it’s so simple to get to the Metro to get around Rome. It’s only about a 20 minute walk from the Colosseum too. The road the hotel is on is littered with small restaurants and there is a friendly gelato/coffee shop + bar on the corner, so you’re never too far from anything you could need, we felt safe at all times in and around the hotel. The hotel itself is cheap with no thrills, but is ideal as a base for tourism and sight seeing - the rooms are fairly small and a lack of separate bathroom is a bit weird, but if you’re a couple this doesn’t really matter. The bed was big and comfortable, which was appreciated after a long day of walking around. A few gripes, that I hope the hotel can address is that it seemed of an evening that the air con system was over ridden by a central setting - we were absolutely boiling but no matter what we did we couldn’t get cool air to come out of the air con system one night - but it was fine during the day , it shows the message “central” on when this was happening which I assume is a central heating option. In fairness as it was 1am I didn’t bother going down and questioning this, so maybe something could’ve been done. One day there was also a nasty damp smell coming from the air con system. Breakfast is unorganised and hit and miss, we stayed 4 nights - of those, 2 mornings there were no pastries even when we waited 30 mins to see if they brung any out, before giving up and going and buying breakfast elsewhere. The pastries themselves are lovely and fresh. Didn’t seem to matter going early or late, it was purely just random hit and miss as we went at different times every day from 7 to 9.30! The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, on our last day the snow came down beach and the bus we had booked to the airport was suspended and the trains were cancelled. We walked back to the hotel even though we’d checked out and the guy at the front desk tried to call us a cab and when he couldn’t gave us a map and direction to a taxi rank that would be less busy than the one at Termini - where there was a literal half mile long queue! More than worth the money it costs if you just need somewhere to relax and lay your head down after a long day of exploring!
