We are just back from staying 3 nights in this hotel. Cons: Distance from the city centre. The hotel is out of the city and there isnt a great public transport system available to get into the main city sites. Not the hotels fault. We downloaded a taxi app and used this throughout our stay and although more expensive than public transport the taxis came quickly, were friendly and the drivers showed us sites we wouldn't have seen otherwise. This was the only downside to our stay. Pros: the hotel staff where fantastic. They were all super friendly and helpful and there was nothing that was a problem for them to do! The guy at reception was brilliant (cant remember his name). The wait/bar staff were brilliant also and very attentive. Breakfast was lovely. Hotel was very clean Comfortable beds and lovely balcony. Also I dont know why people are saying that there was no where to eat around the hotel because we found plenty nearby. We would definitely go back here! Thank you colony hotel for a brilliant trip x

The staff of this hotel have been far from nice. They not only gave us broken dirty rooms and do nothing when we complained. But they also stole us legal documents. One the rooms lock was under bad conditions and they charged us 20€ The worst hotel ever

Nice hotel. Clean. Near bas station. But biggest minus is that we payed bed and breakfast, but there were no enough food for all guests. It was like that every morning. In spite of the information for the hotel manager, there was no change. Their shame.

We booked the Hotel on, it takes ages to get the hotel as it is very far away from centre. Unfortunately there was no explanation either on booking website or hotel website regarding how to get to the hotel, so we had to ask and people and tried to find on google map... Room was very small, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant for 2 people we paid £28.50 for pasta which wasn’t very good. Room was clean and sitting area was comfortable. It seems good for family visitors...

After seeing some of the previous reviews in the lead up to our break in Rome, I was really worried about what to expect from our hotel. But as soon as we walked through the door on Saturday evening, all my expectations were proven wrong when I was greeted by a really friendly gentleman and a clean, albeit slightly outdated, but most importantly clean, and pleasant reception area. We were then asked if we would prefer a smaller room with a double bed, or bigger room with two single beds and a balcony - so we went for the latter and pushed the beds together. Upon entering this room (again, still slightly nervous at what to expect), we found a clean, tidy and not-as-outdated, room. The next morning (and the remainder of the days for that matter), as we left and returned to the hotel - I made a conscience effort to interact and smile with as many staff as possible (after seeing the previous TrIpAdvisor comments), and again, they were all smiley, friendly, waving and kind. We’ve had a really pleasant stay at the hotel and I couldn’t fault it. The only thing is that it is a little bit far away from the centre of Rome and in all I spent 70 euro on Uber’s in three days (to the Colleseum, Vatican and Spanish Steps in the morning and return journeys on the Sunday and Tuesday). So if you have a bit extra budget I’d probably recommend staying somewhere more central, or being more tactical with travel (I.e not getting uber as central and walking half way before getting a ride). For context about us as it may help you decide if this hotel is right for you, I’m a final year university student and my partner is an insurance broker and we’re saving for our first place, meaning we have to be careful with what we spend. That said, we had an amazing time!

With the exception of 2 staff members the rest need sacking. I witnessed staff shouting at guests in front of other guests causing embarrassment. Staff demanded breakfast payment from guests as they ate breakfast even after a previous staff member had said they could pay at the desk. They place was regularly understaffed at breakfast with basics running out. For eg the coffee machine was empty and guests were told they could buy yes buy coffee from the bar having already paid for breakfast. The service was a shambles. The hotel was basic but ok for the price. It is a few miles from the centre. With a taxi ride into the centre being between 12 and 15 euros we stuck to this method of transportation. I definitely can not recommend this hotel. Avoid Avoid

Perhaps not the most central hotel in Rome but my stay was made very comfortable by extr5emely helpful and courteous staff both at reception and catering. Parking facilities are a fiver a day and the hotel is easy to find even for a novice driver in Rome. I would go back....

My sister, my boyfriend and I decided to travel to Rome with agency and they have booked this hotel for our stay. The first impression was nice because when we arrived early the rooms weren't available and we had to leave our stuff at reception, when we came in the evening I was pleased because they have taken care for our stuff. The room was nice and clean, every day they have changed the towels. The staff at the reception was very nice and to sum up it is a nice and welcoming hotel.

We spend 6 nights at colony hotel and it was totally worth it. Staff was kind and polite, if we wanted help they were happy to assist. Our room was nice and it had all the things we needed. Hotel bar was nice as well, for drinks at least. We did not eat at the hotel. Hotel colony was pretty far from the centre of Rome, so we used public transportation, which worked well. Bus 200 (stadio olimpico), bus 32 (stadio olimpico, ottaviano) and 223 (termini). All the buses stop very near to hotel, so they were easy to use. At busy hours they may take some time, but it did not matter to us. For the price we payed, this hotel had all the things we needed. We recommend!

My experience staying in the hotel was the worst experience I ever been starting from the staff, interior, check in, check out and the bathroom. Regarding the staffs, especially the lady, who told us to address her as "The Manager" was really rude beyond what you can expect from hotel service. She will work hard in luring money out from the customers and will find faults to make your stay horrible. The communication between the staffs is really unacceptable and the worst part was, our things were packed out, some of our water bottles were thrown away without our consent and before out checked out date. It was definitely the worse experience. Not to mention the hotel services that will not come to your room upon request. Apart from the unacceptable behaviour of the staffs, the interior and hotel rooms are completely old-fashioned, beds are smelly and wallpapers are torn apart (see attached for the pictures). The bathroom is always flooded with water and towels are smelly too. On the other hand, it is also to note that the hotel is far away from the city centre. Be prepared to spend 25 euros per trip with a taxi to the city centre. Buses are available down the road but waiting time will be 30 mins min. and the journey will take at least an hour to the city centre. Overall, I was not satisfied with my stay and to everyone who wished to stay here, do reconsider your decision before clicking the book button!
