We traveled to Rome via a travel agency, upon arrival at the hotel that was booked for us, we were disgusted so we went on a hotel hunt and found Astoria Garden. We walked in told the gentleman we needed 3 clean, updated rooms that we wouldn't be afraid to sleep in. He welcomed us shoes us 3 rooms, and gave us a great price. Upon this check in, we were most happy... clean rooms, great staff and a safe location. The only bad thing I will say is the beds need to be updated as they are not the most comfortable. But overall a wonderful hotel. Thank you Astoria Garden!
We had a 3 night break at The Astoria Garden. We chose it based on price and location which is a short walk from the station. From the moment we walked in to until the time we left, we were made to feel very welcome. It is a traditional hotel, very comfortable and clean with a great enclosed garden which we sat in for a relaxing drink after a day of sightseeing. Everyone was friendly, but a special mention for Paulo. If we return to Rome, we would definitely stay here again and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
My partner booked a surprise 10 Year Anniversary trip to Rome for my Christmas present 2016. Our Anniversary was 4th March 2017, and this charming 19th Century Hotel is right at the heart of the City of Rome, and well within walking distance to all major transport, buses, metro, trains, and taxis, and most of the major tourist attractions, and a bus or train ride away from Ciampino Airport to Termini Station, The Hotel itself has a most pleasant semi tropical garden, with Banana, Lemon and Orange trees -- an unexpected piece of tranquility in an otherwise busy and bustling city. Our main hotel concierge was named Lorenzo, and he reminded me a little bit of an Italian version of Basil Fawlty, with a wide eyed, happy to help expression, very pleasant, very chatty, and very helpful and knowledgeable, his assistant concierge, was a little bit like a very humble version of Manuel, all in all only too happy to help. Our hotel room, which was situated on the ground floor and was street side facing,(No:115) was rather basic, but functional, which had free Wi Fi and satellite TV(Although trying to get English TV was like needle in hey stack) and there was a combination safe within the wardrobe, for securing precious items away safely. My only negatives are that there was no tea & coffee making facilities in our room, so encourages spending money within the hotel, and our telephone looked like it hadn't had a dusting since the previous year. Breakfast is very substantial, usual continental offerings, of croissants, bread selection, cereals, scrambled eggs, cook meat selection, fruit, yoghurts, juices, teas and coffee, no complaints there, sets you up ready for your day of adventure. All in all, I would recommend this hotel, as it's well within reach to travel out to wherever you wish to site see, i.e.Vatican City, Teatro dell' Opera di Roma, local restaurants:(One such restaurant, as recommended by Lorenzo, was The Bramble -- this has to be experienced, local, very reasonably priced, excellent quality authentic Italian cuisine and fab service), Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. etc. Another plus is that within a 3 - 5 minute walking distance, there's a fantastic Italian Supermarket, where you can buy bottles of water/juice/ and (alcohol if desired), and snacks for your excursions, which works out far, far cheaper than actually buying them at your destination tour site, a real bonus, also comes in handy for your room, to drink or snack on later!!! 😁😃
Stayed here for 3 nights too many. If you're claustrophobic, forget the 9x10 rooms with an extremely hard mattress - think trampoline! Friends in another room felt the same way. The pluses - close to train station, garden okay, breakfast okay, staff friendly. Did I say the mattress is hard? My back still hurts thinking about it. Never again!! Move up to four stars.
Excellent little hotel. Only a 5 minute stroll from the main station, with metro and bus access and a non stop 30 minute train to the airport. The hotel and room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which opened onto the lovely little garden area. The best thing about the hotel was the staff, very friendly and helpful. Overall a great value hotel. We will be back and would recommend to friends.
We were welcomed on arrival and checked in quickly to a clean room with everything needed for our stay. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and make you feel at home. The hotel is clean and has beautiful Roman interior. The garden is lovely and has seating to enjoy some fresh air under the orange trees. Breakfast offers a good selection of fresh fruit cereal breads cold meats and hot drinks. I can't fault this hotel or the staff and look forward to coming back and staying again. Would rate higher if it were an option highly recommend you won't be disappointed.
Took my wife here over Valentine's day,(wink wink nudge nudge) beautiful hotel, professional staff, nice rooms, cental to all major attractions, two minute walk from train station, I'd rate it 9/11, would stay again 🖒
Booked this hotel for a week long stay for the Italy v Wales 6 Nations rugby game & having been to Rome a few times we know not to expect huge rooms & was a bit apprehensive in all honesty after reading some recent reviews on TripAdvisor. Well I can honestly say & I couldn't find any faults, we had a fantastic stay & the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. We had a garden room (119) with banana plants & orange and lemon trees outside & a fountain & seating areas & it was clean & functional with plenty of storage space with a huge wardrobe & draws & a personal electronic safe for your belongings. A good base to explore the area & as stated in other reviews the neighbourhood looks a little run down but it's safe & only a 5 minute walk to the Termini Station which itself is a bit like a shopping centre on 3 levels & where you can catch all trains busses & taxis for sightseeing. Will be definitely booking this hotel again in 2 years time when we return for the rugby.
This hotel was perfect for my week stay in Rome. It is a great price and only a 15 minute walk to the subway. There are many great restaurants around this hotel. The staff are very friendly and were able to answer all of my questions. This hotel has a very beautiful outside seating area to relax. They also have a cute area to sit and relax with couches and a bar. The room was just the right size and the beds were comfortable. I was very happy with my stay here.
It's a short walk from the Termini rail station and Metro. The room was small, but clean and up-to-date. The staff upgraded us to a room overlooking the lovely garden, and they were happy to help us get tickets for the Vatican. The breakfast is generous. The restaurant pickings nearby aren't the greatest. But overall, this hotel worked out great for us, and I recommend it.
