A beautiful hotel located in Tijuca Barra is not.near the usual hustle and bustle of Rio. And, is not overrun with tourists. The service was superb. The dining experience delightful. And, the added bonus - the magnificent ocean right across the street. The hotel is also an excellent venue for your conference needs. Access your floor in the elevator with your room key.
I am tourist who likes to stay in neigbbourhood with sufficient activity. This hotel is in Barra which is very residencial, car friendly and lacks the streetactivity that you see in Copacabana and Ipanema. Especially this is visible on weekdays. So thereforre I prefer to visit Barra in the weekends. The hotel is very luxurious and good quality rooms. The swimming pool on the roof quite large and around the hotel some restaurants.Shopping and the Rua Oligario maciel with lots of bars is within easy reach with Taxi. Also easy access to Ilha Reserva and Recreio. In weekends I would definitely stay in this very good hotel again.
Best location in Rio de Janeiro right in front of the beautiful Barra de Tijuca beaches. The rooms need upgrade specially the ones with carpet. Smell of cigarettes affects me quality. Service is good. GM normally visible in public areas.
Rooms are quite dated but comfortable and the rest of the hotel is lovely and I was impressed with the breakfast and lunch offering. Staff were friendly and accomadating. Feels like quite a safe area of Barra and extremely close to a quiet beach.
I was looking for a romantic hotel in Rio de Janeiro, to spend my wedding anniversary. I didn't have any problema booking a room online. When my family and I arrived, we became astonished by the hotels beauty. Our room was on a top level floor, with a great view of the ocean and the main street. The room was also impeccably clean and organized, the only fault was the missing of an extra bed, that we had asked for my son, but it was rapidly solved.
Windsor barra is a great hotel, not new but is comfortable and clean and its in barra da tijuca that is a quiet besch compared qith others in rio. Our security box run out of batteries but they inmediately repaired ir. Breakfast is the best, a lot of food and for all the tastes. It has beach service but ther are not enough umbrellas and beach chairs, so if there is many people in the hotel you may have to pay for them to people that rent it on the beach... The critique i hace for the hotel is that doesnt have wifi!!!! XXI century and there is not free wifi, something to take on acount.
We stayed in Barra Windsor for our family winter vacation . The hotel is clean and the view is great, right across from the beautiful beaches. The staff at the reception is good with English but most of the service staff they do not speak English communication is problem. Service is slow. Breakfast buffet definetly needs improvement.
The hotel is alright. The spot is brilliant, as it is in front of the beach. The service was very good and breakfast was of a high quality. The room was ok, you can tell that it has seen better years and I did not like the fact that wifi was not included
Right on the Barra beach, with ocean views from many rooms, the Windsor Barra is reasonably priced, clean, and boasts good service. As some other reviews have indicated, some updating is justified, but the pluses outweigh the minuses. The surf is amazing, with windkites and surfers in abundance. A slight drawback is the relative lack of restaurants in the vicinity; however, a short taxi ride is enough for a broader variety.
This beachfront hotel in the Barra section of Rio has some dated elegance. It's décor is reminiscent of Miami Beach, circa 1970. The rooms and baths could use some updating. However, the service is excellent, as staff were responsive to our need to change rooms because of noise and faulty internet connection. By the way, there is a daily internet charge of about $8, and many Brazilian hotels provide free cell phone internet. ( See Melia 21 in Brasilia ). The assortment and the quality of the food for breakfast and dinner is first-rate. For a hotel restaurant, the dinner at the Windsor Barra is really exceptional. Try the salmon.
