Upscale hotel in Barra, just in front of the beach. Large rooms, comfortable facilities overall. I didn’t like the decoration style overall, but it is definitely a good hotel for a business stay. Large restaurant and good options for breakfast.
A little old, a little more cleaning needed, but overall it's a comfortable, well runned place. Staff is accommodating, the drivers are reasonably priced, and everything was easy. Air Con does seem to have a mind of its own. Location is far from the main attractions but much safer
Visited Rio for a conference. City was amazing. The hotel has great potential, but slips up in many ways. Internet is shocking- staff aware, but simply unable to fix. Service is very poor overall. Occasional staff members are great, but mostly very quiet and unhelpful. They often won’t even attempt to communicate. Rooms are neat and secure, but need a really good clean. Restaurant is rather generic and sterile. Nearby beach is excellent. Hotel location is a long way from city attractions though. This place could be great, but is let down by issues outlined above. Only stay here if you’re attending a conference at the adjacent centre.
I stayed at the Windsor Barra during a recent conference. The hotel is well located in Barra de Tijuca, a beach front located south of Copacabana and Ipanema in a nice area of town where according to locals it is safer to walk. The beach is just across the street and it appeared well populated during the day I got a very spacious room on the 16 floor facing the street. The room was great, well furnished with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was very nice as well with great shower. The place was very well kept and was very clean. The only issues I had was with the AC thermostat and with the street noise. The street in front of the hotel is quite busy and it can get very noisy at times. The thermostat was not working well. I brought it up to the staffs attention and it appears something was done to it. The hotel restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was included. The selection was excellent with all sorts of tropical fruits, breads, cold cuts etc. Catering during the conference was superb with different selections including meat, fish or chicken and several vegetable selections. In summary a nice place to stay if you want to be a bit away from the action in a safe area
Wonderful hotel right across from the beach in Barra. Staff was extremely attentive and spoke English well. Restaurant was consistently good. I definitely recommend you get the breakfast package. Ideally located to Ipanema and Copa Cabana. Best is the beach across the street as it is less crowded, cleaner and safer than most other beaches.
My first stay at the Windsor Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro. I was attending a Convention in another property of the same Group just across the road and its location is excellent for that purpose. Nice accomodations, friendly staff, good breakfast.
Large hotel with, together with sister hotel aside, a large congress venue. Connection between the hotels via ground floor or via walking bridge at 2nd level. Very good breakfast with a lot of choice and great fruits. Good bed. All perfect? No, I found a very suspicious dark brown stain under the toilet seat - quite easy to wash off...
The location is unbeatable, the rooms are ok as well as it’s cleanest. The breakfast is just espectacular, possible on the top three of South America. One things that I did not like was the system that they have to give you the beach towel.
Hotel is good, not perfect. Room was fine. WiFi somewhat slow. I loved all the fresh fruits during breakfast. Location is good if you want to be out of the toeristic places. If you want to visit these places please note that it takes you easily a one hour drive by taxi to get at Copacabana, Ipanema etc
Stayed at Windsor Barra for 3 days on business. Very well located, just across the street from the beach. Breakfast was very well served with plenty to choose from. The restaurant menu has very few options but the food is good. Mind the wi-if, though. It did not connect to any of my 4 devices (iPhones, iPad, MacBook). When I called the hotel's IT, they implied that my equipments were to blame, not their below zero service. When I vehemently complained about it, the receptionist seamed bored and did nothing. I ended up using all my data plan. I'm not sure if I'll return.
