As a frequent traveler I never complaint on any website before but my experience at this hotel was a NIGHTMARE! If you plan to stay at this hotel, my advice is to lower your expectation way down to ensure your satisfaction. Don’t be fooled by the rating and the price it charges. The room is SUPER outdated and literally falling apart. The most disgusting thing is that BLACK MOLD is EVERYWHERE in the room. The room also smells like musty wet dog and the closet was so stinky which makes it impossible to store anything in it. The shower head is so rusted that it turned actually GREEN! The toilet seat is halfway falling off. Please look at my pictures before you make a decision for your hotel booking. The hotel is so lack of standard, they even delivered an ironing board covered by mold to my room. It is like they were afraid I didn't pay attention to the "mold gone wild" issue in my room. Don't be fooled by the VIP hotel of Orbitz as there is NO VIP amenity provided. The "VIP amenity" was "FREE WIFI" which is already FREE for EVERY hotel guest! There was NO basic complimentary amenity in room except few toiletries. I mean NO complimentary bottle water, coffee/tea facilities, iron/ironing board in room. The management can't be more careless. They responded to my real time feedback on Orbitz that they will address the issue directly with me. However NO ONE address anything after 8 nights of stay. After check out I got an email from GM who address me with WRONG NAME. HOW RUDE!
When I first arrived all looked well. I got to my room after 18 hours of travelling only to find my pillow cases had mildew on them. Housekeeping do not respond to request until you call for the fourth time. My room was not properly cleaned on a daily basis. One of the elevators only worked if the bellman operated it. I was charged for items from the minibar that I did not consume. There were only two English speaking channels and both were CNN news. One channel froze 90 % of the time. The WiFi kept dropping in and out in the room and although the hotel was directly across from the beach my view was if the back of the building.
it was a great stay. the hotel is close to many great beaches. you get to walk along the beach for miles. service is great at the hotel. they are very courteous and helpful. only the lobby is too cold at times.
My family and I spent a few days in this amazing hotel in Barra and we were very pleased with our stay. Very clean and convenient, right there across the beach. They provide towels and umbrellas for the beach. Excellent breakfast!! It will be good to include WIFI in the price of the room.
I had the fortune of a deluxe room with a view of the beach and ocean. The room was clearly well appointed, with expensive wood and granite décor. I had a large bed, two sinks and a jetted tub. The staff was friendly. I felt safe. And the food at breakfast was exceptional. I was traveling for business and found this hotel more than adequate to crash night-to-night. You have to dig to find complaint at this location, as the views and environment are really distracting in a good way; but I do have a few comments. Entering the hotel is all but impossible except by the rotating doors out front and I personally hate these hamster wheels. I know that the doors keep bugs down and secure the facility, but it can be awkward with a lot of luggage. Despite the rotating door, the mosquitoes were rabid in the café, where my associate received half a dozen bites in the few hours we hung out there. I found black mold in the grout line where my bathroom sinks join the granite counter. It is tough to see or know its there until you sit on the toilet and have a view of it. Despite an amazing ocean vista, one of my window panes was perpetually fogged up. The bed was FIRM, which is not a problem for me, but be warned. Some of the AC receptacles were loose and flopping in the wall. The AC was running 24/7, to keep the room temp tolerable--it would appear that AC is generally under-provisioned in Brazil, so it's not as though anything will change. For some reason, perhaps cultural, you will not find washcloths in the hotel bathrooms. I didn't see a purge system on the jetted tub and had honest concerns about its hygiene, but I may just be too picky. The rooftop pool was an amazing place, with a modest fitness center behind it. That said, I would have liked more breadth of equipment in the fitness center.
