Linx Hotel International Airport Galeão

It's about expectations. This is an airport hotel - as stated in the name and title, so expecting it to be anything else is an expectation doomed for failure. It's not an ideal place to stay if you're visiting Rio or staying for more than 24hrs or don't have a flight transfer lined up - but as far as airport hotels go, this is not a bad one at all. We stayed there for one night because of a late domestic flight arrival and an early next morning international departure, and for Rio an airport hotel is essential because of the city's location and traffic (the safer areas of town like Ipanema is a bit far to get to, and traffic can be horrendous in Rio). Once you get to the hotel, it's clean, strong aircon, spacious (for an airport hotel), and quiet. Fast and efficient check-in to get you in the room as well, no fuss. Some airport hotels don't try very hard on the comfort side because they know you have no choice but to stay there. But Linx in this regard is one of the best ones I've stayed at, because while it's not luxurious or fancy, it's everything you want in a clean, comfortable, simple and straightforward stay. One glaring issue - is the connection bus, which is pretty essential for an airport hotel such as this one. We arrived and found the phone to call the hotel - but nobody picked up for 20mins! Eventually we waited around and someone picked up and told us to go upstairs to the departures level (and for the next traveller staying here, the bus is at the end of the exit walkway as you walk out), but there isn't much information about this on the website or confirmation emails. I'm not even sure to this day if you need to call or you can just wait there for the buses - it's probably safer to call, but it seem like the buses do run regularly so you can just wait there until the buses arrive. It's safe enough to wait as well - the exits at Rio are actually quite orderly and safe compared to other latin American airports, so no need to worry there. Other than that, it's a great airport hotel, and I'd use it again if I'm transferring through Rio in the future (now that I know where the mini-buses are).

I stayed at the Linx Hotel on the 19.10.2017. The hotel is basically simple like an IBIS but is ideal for a stopover before or after flying. It takes 10 minutes from the airport and is easy to find the transport bus. Once you arrive you walk along to the information desk on arrivals. Opposite this dedk there is a hotel phone to call for the transport (Important if you arrive late or early in the morning). You then take the lift (elevator for our american readers :-) ) to the second floor, exit the airport and then go along the bus rank to the very end in the right direction. There is a sign for Linx hotel and you wait there. The mini bus that comes has Linx hotel written on it and is easy to see. The staff are friendly and all in all it was a good choice for whst I needed but dont expect high luxury. I have attached the bus timetable that was inside the bus and can be found at the hotel.

I spent one night at this hotel before my next morning flight to Manaus. The location is key here, really right across from the airport but very quiet. The room was modern and clean, as was the bathroom. I did not have dinner at the hotel, only breakfast which was a bit sad and very basic but ok. The shuttle bus is definitely a bonus but here I want to point out the following: The phone you need to use to call the shuttle bus at the airport is located inside the arrivals terminal, not outside like I thought, between doors D and C. The courtesy phone area is rather small and I walked past it twice before somebody showed me where it was. You then have to go up to the departure area and out of door D and the Pick-up area will be on the right hand side. The bus arrived really fast, about 2 minutes after I got up there. This hotel is a good alternative if you arrive late and need to leave early the next morning as the drive to Rio from the airport can take up to one hour, depending on traffic.

after a 12 hours flight with our kids we waited with other hotelguests at the airport for the free transfer. the sign at the curbside says that a bus is leaving the hotel every 20 minutes to bring and collect guests. after 40 minutes a brasilian guest called the hotel regarding the transfer. 10 minutes later - still no bus did arrive - we took a taxi to the hotel (2 minutes drive). after a while the other guests arrived with the hotelbus. the receptionist was very unfriendly and it took her 30 (!!) minutes to check us in. all the guests arriving with the bus had to queue for even longer time to be served. totally inefficient and unprofessional. at least the rooms are ok for a short night due to the long waiting times. the transfer from the hotel to the airport went smooth.

Ive stayed here once a year, for 3-5 nights, for the last three years. This hotel has removed / reduced their staff in the restaurant and at the front desk. The old staff knew their jobs & were friendly and spoke English. This staff has zero personality and only speaks Portuguese. At an international airport that's awful. I speak Spanish and used to be able to communicate with almost all of the staff. Now, only one Is willing or able. Be prepared for long lines to check in, zero levels of service, one towel per room. Confused staff and a thread bare kitchen that is not a direct bill to your room??!

I was trying for more than an hour to let them know I was checking up late, but no answer ! More than an hour! I could not find out where is his shuttle picking up customers. was not helping either. Really bad service.

This is a rather new Hotel - but repairs are already underway. The check-in is a bit slow but part of it is due to the cumbersome Brazilian paperwork. But an extra person would help. Bed, bath and air conditioning all were good. Breakfast is very good with nice coffee. The swimming pool looks great but one wonders, if it is ever used. Gym is well equipped. Shuttle bus is every 20 min. Since the ride out to the airport can take up to 2 hours- yes traffic can be that bad! - staying here will give you peace of mind.

The hotel is modern and clean. The staff were super friendly and spoke both Portuguese and English fluently. The hotel has a free shuttle bus as well. When you exit customs turn left and walk towards the linx phone booth to confirm the shuttle bus. Then take the 2 escalators up to the departures section. Exit door D and go to the right where there is a linx sign (the taxi drivers may try to tell you to wait for the shuttle at door d downstairs which is incorrect - then when it doesn't arrive because you are waiting in the wrong place they will offer to drive you for 50 reais!).

Husband & I stayed over night at this hotel, as we were coming to the end of our world tour & had one more flight to take. We have stayed in many different hotels, not all top of the range but at least a bit of character. First impression it looked grubby from the outside. There had been a water leak & the ceiling had collapsed, no problem accidents happen. The cafe area was uninviting, so didn't feel we could sit there for a alcoholic drink. Not everybody wants to sit in their hotel room. Room was fine, but would of been nice to have a kettle etc. Restaurant - the menu for the restaurant needed reviewing. Husband's pizza was cold, so went back to the kitchen. My chicken & rice was fine. Same menu for lunch & evening meal. Breakfast was ok, but nothing exciting.

I stayed at the LINX with my family (2 adults, 2 kids) for a night. It is a convenient place to stay as it is just 10 minutes away from the international airport and they have a shuttle service to and from the airport every 20 minutes. But that's about it. Room was clean but very plain. Service level and breakfast were below expectations for a hotel in a prime location and charges as if it was a 4-start hotel. I would only recommend it for an overnight stay between flights. Nothing else.
