Modern and well appointed hotel, breakfast is good and included and parking available for a reasonable price. Walking to the old city core is about 10mins, so very convenient for tourist visits and going out after a long day in the office. The rooms are spacious enough and clean.
Stayed here one night following flight into Frankfurt. Two rooms. Very comfortable. Very clean. Staff at front desk very professional and courteous. Hotel walking distance to alstadt. Breakfast included and was a decent offering. Could not have asked for more. Plentiful parking beneath hotel. Very secure. Thanks!
Good hotel, clean, new, nice rooms. Breakfast is fine (by IHG standards ;)). The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the internet connection. It was horrible - see the picture (measured at 7am BTW, evenings are even worse). Basically the internet is unusable.
Not ideal for families, as the Z-bed put into an otherwise double room basically occupied all of the floor space. Thankfully we were only there for one night, as not sure we could have coped for any longer duration. It's a good 20 minute walk to the main areas of Heidelberg so we had to take a taxi back from a restaurant in the city-centre (of which there weren't actually that many available). All other facilities and service was very standard... not good, not bad, just standard.
Clean comfortable room. Stayed for 2 nights, and were offered a free drink each if room cleaning was skipped, but could get fresh towels at desk. Friendly staff. Small adequate complimentary breakfast. A 20 minute walk to the Monkey bridge, and other tourist sights. Nice secluded patio off bar. 10 minute walk to Cafe Rossi, best food ever!
We stayed here in September with friends and it was the starting point of our 2 week tour of 6 different European countries. It was important that we had secure parking so this hotel ticked the box! The rooms were clean and well presented, team members were informative and friendly. We enjoyed the choices at breakfast. The location is a short walk into the city centre and the perfect base for our first stop. Would highly recommend and would return again.
A convenient hotel on the outskirts of the town and for able bodied or those on wheels, an easy flat 15-20 min stroll into the main high street. Tram station immediately outside the hotel, parking underneath (15€ per day), a good supermarket with cafe also underneath the hotel. Reception at the hotel is on the first floor which you can reach from the car park or street entrance by lift or stairs and leads to the bar and breakfast restaurant. Staff at reception were very friendly but were overwhelmed at times with long queues on the Monday evening we were there and could not serve drinks at the bar as they were too occupied trying to check in business travellers. Our rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor were modern, comfortable and functional. Bed might be a bit too soft for some, but otherwise good, plenty of plug sockets, small desk, reasonable amount of space, air con and heating. Shower room very decent size. If your room is on the 'inside' of hotel, you'll have a view of a courtyard garden area which on a nice day has seating areas. Rooms on the outside will overlook either the tram line and across to a small park on the other side of the main road or a large cross road area. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss and simple continental style. Fairly large seating area with help yourself buffet and drinks (no table service). Just grab a table and help yourself to cheese and meats, cereal, breads, yoghurts. Only hot option were boiled eggs in a basket which we tried but were pretty nasty. If you can get a booking option without breakfast we think you'd be better off getting something to eat in the supermarket cafe downstairs which has a fantastic range of breads, cakes and hot options. All in all we had a great time in Heidelberg as tourists and thought this hotel met all our needs for convenience and comfort and so would recommend. We'd advise the hotel to improve the staffing levels at obvious busy times, and widen the breakfast range with more hot and better quality options.
Holiday Inn Express is just a few blocks walking distance from the train station and about a 15 minute walk from downtown. Convenient location and a quality hotel. My partner and I with our teenage son stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and thought it was fine for our one night. Room was a bit small for 3 men but worked out fine. Room was clean and bathroom new and had everything we needed. Breakfast was quite nice with hot coffee and tea along with pastries and breads, meats and cheeses. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Wifi was ok, no complaints. Quality hotel at a budget price close to the train and old city.
The hotel is rather good as far as the question regarding peacefulness is concerned. The building is sound-proof so that one hardly hears any noise in the room, which is of course the most appreciated feature of a hotel. That doesn’t imply that the calm is absolute since not all the hotel guests are civilized people and therefore some slams are heard, but in such cases the bang is considerably deaden and doesn’t therefore prevent normal people from resting conveniently. The location of the hotel is rather good, near some good restaurants and just some fourteen minutes away on foot from the historical center of Heidelberg. Therefore one can go walking to that superb part of the city. Besides it's a nice promenade. The hotel sign is not easily visible since it’s not big enough therefor and besides it’s not outstanding and eyes catching when approaching the hotel by car. In such cases therefore one ought to pay much attention and ensure that he opens his eyes adequately so as not to pass by inadvertently. In general the staff members are kind and helpful with one or two exceptions. For example, the lady working at the front desk who carried out the check in task upon my arrival could have been kinder, more precise in her remarks and should have answered all the questions put to her on the hotel wifi. The latter, by the way, works properly. The room maids do a good work. They clean both the room and the bathroom adequately but they don’t abide by the principle whereby only the towels left on the floor or on the bathtub must be replaced. They systematically change all towels every day regardless of the place where one has left them. The breakfast may be deemed a weak point of the hotel. There is not much variety as regards pastry and fresh fruits. As far as the latter is concerned, on the days the undersigned stayed at the hotel, there weren’t not even any bananas, just sour apples. The orange juice, apart from not being produced with fresh oranges, is a bit watery. The prices are reasonable mainly if they are compared with those of other Heidelberg hotels. In the undersigned’s opinion, the stay in that hotel can be a pleasant one. Therefore the booking of a room there may not be regretted.
We booked a family room which turned out to be a bit small. The room was very clean, and the beds comfy with different pillows to choose from. Wifi worked fine on our mobile devices. Breakfast was good, with a decent buffet to choose from. We could park our car in the parking in the basement of the building (€15 per day) The old city (Altstad) and castle are within walking distance.
