My husband and I stayed here for two nights, all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and the hotel was very clean. The view from our room on the 5th floor was very nice. We had the breakfast which was everything we needed to start our day. If we're lucky to make it back to Iceland we would definitely stay here again.
We loved this hotel! The free breakfast was solid. Room size is typical for a European hotel. Room was clean and staff was friendly. The bus stop is nearby to aid in your travel around the city. We will definitely come back.
We stayed at Oddsson for 4 nights while visiting Iceland. It’s about a 2.5 mile walk from the centre of Reykjavík but there is a shopping centre, couple of supermarkets and takeaways close by. There are plenty of bus stops and you can get the airport shuttle straight to the door. We hired a car and the hotel has limited free underground parking which was very handy as it’s expensive to park in Iceland with most streets being metered. Check in is sent by email with your room number and door code. Room very clean and modern. Economy double was perfect for 2 of us. Free toiletries and hairdryer in room. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room but we didn’t mind. Breakfast in the morning was continental, everything always fresh and staff happy to help if anything needed topped up. Small bar in the evening and social area throughout the day. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back.
This hotel is wonderful. It is new. The rooms are ample. The service friendly. And the breakfast is first rate. Parking in their garage can be a challenge for a larger vehicle. We had a nine passenger van and had to park across the street. Other than that I must say we had a wonderful stay. The rates are below market and the location makes it easy to get onto the open road and explore. City center is only ten minutes away.
Our stay at Oddsson Hotel went smoothly, with the staff going out of their way to accommodate our requirements. Definitely recommend this hotel for its service, cleanliness and affordability. Great for groups who require a secluded public area for meetings.
Stayed here last week for three nights. Lovely atmosphere, very informal and staff always there to help. The room was a twin , it was warm and beds comfortable. Lovely shower, underfloor heat in bathroom and very clean. Breakfast was excellent all buffet but good choice and plenty to eat. Can’t fault it, there was a bus stop very near with plenty of buses to take us downtown and back as well.Really nice lounge/lobby area to sit as well.
The Oddsson Hotel is a new hotel with a young helpful staff and a lot of energy. The lounge is particularly relaxing and a good place to meet. The hotel offers free breakfast and there are several restaurants in walking distance. It is easy to pick up tour buses from here.
Iceland being such an expensive place, it was difficult to find somewhere that met our requirements and was still within our budget. The trade off is that it's 1-2 miles walk into the centre of Rekjavik or to the main attractions lile Perlan which is why I only gave 4 stars instead of 5. It's brand new, clean, ultra modern and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is great and will save you a fortune in the long run due to the high food prices. The hotel staff were friendly, polite and knowledgeable and the price was right. Shower gel, hand soap and towels are provided. We asked about a kettle and were given one when we arrived which was great because my husband could make a flask of tea to take on excursions. It's on all of the excursion pick up lists which is handy and you are usually the last to be picked up and first to be dropped off which is nice too. There are a few "cheap" places to eat with a chicken place, burger joint, pizza and Chinese very close by and a shopping centre with food court about 10-15 minutes walking away. USB chargers in the headboard were Very nice modern touch.
Perfect base. We stayed here for one night before moving on around Iceland. Good clean hotel. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was adequate. Rooms were a good size and comfortable. Underground parking was available.
The room was new and very clean. It did had a good sized bathroom with a nice shower (but no curtains at the window and a weird line above the toilet?). Check-in with codes send to you by email worked really well. I had a good night sleep, however I am not convinced of coming back. This hotel is new and I hope the owners take the time to review some things and make it better. E.g. put some information about where to (legally!) park in the surrounding streets, as the garage is for very small cars only and there are only a few places. From the outside as well as from the garage are only stairs, no elevator, so for elderly people or people travelling and wanting some comfort about not lifting there luggage, this is not the best place in town. This is clearly a hotel for foreigners, as there are only channels like BBC on the tv and no Icelandic ones. Most people should find this perfect, I on the other hand travel to Iceland to learn Icelandic. Also the numbering of rooms was misleading… certainly when you are in room 210 (I challenge the staff to find out). Breakfast was continental with no real local products. Although there is enough. Let me end this review by saying I like the design and hoping that some changes will make this hotel a way better place to stay in the future.
