The front desk staff could not have been any better. Always helpful going above and beyond whatever was asked of them. The kitchen staff would even fill water bottles for our use during the day. Housekeeping did an excellent job!
I recently stayed here for my first solo trip to Iceland, once I arrived I was swiftly dealt with and I was in my room within minutes, any question I had was answered and advice on iceland was given to me, if I’m back in Iceland (which I hopefully will) I will stay here again.
If it wasn't for the helpful staff at this hotel, my trip would of been ruined. They helped me out with all the tours, the rooms were clean and comfortable and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend.
This is my true statement for this outstanding and fantastic holiday. The staff great and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel due to its great location in Iceland. So much to do. This is my second vist. First to this hotel this year. Must not forget about the yummy breakfast. Plenty of choice. Golden circle and South tour a must with Tui. You will need a good pair of all weather walking boots. Be prepared for different weather. Sun, wind, rain, Snow❄❄❄☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️⛄. Vist Iceland I will be back. Thankyou. You must buy the Christmas yuletide. The Christmas Cat and more. Very interesting.
Stayed here for 3 nights on 2 occasions, the first stay we were allocated a room facing the courtyard which is very quiet but can hear the sound of the moving elevator since our room is close to the elevator but nothing bothering. Our 2nd stay , for 2 nights, our room is facing the main street with the view of the famous church in distance. We were a bit skeptical about the noise from the main street but it turned out to be a non issue. Icelandic drive with courtesy and hardly use the honk. Both are about the same, clean and tidy rooms with a rather cramp showering area, which is normal in Europe. The Receptionist was kind enough to allow me to store my big luggage for a week while we were on our tours. Kind gesture considering some hotels even try to charge you. The only negative aspect of my stay is when most of the Northern Light Hunting tours were cancelled, the hotel put on a sign signalling the tour is on tonight from another tour company rather than the actual one they booked for me. Upon receiving my order , I only realized its a different tout company but its too late. The company they used is the infamous big company start with "R" which only interest is to make tourist money. And of course , no sighting of Aurora.
This hotel was clean and basic but functional. An ideal location for the main shopping street, famous church and bus stops. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. The room I stayed in was a good size but looked a little bit jayded and in need of a make-over, it had a mini fridge, kettle and street view and was warm and comfortable. Shower was hot and theraputic (sulphar water) and good toiletries. Didn't have the breakfasts as expensive but buffet looked good. Very small bar area in reception. Chance to buy postcards and food also. Local supermarket (bonus) within walking distance of the hotel. Can book trips from the hotel reception or nearby. There is an excellent local bakery in a side street on the main shopping street.
Situated at the edge of the main shopping, restaurant area, the hotel is in a quiet street away from the action. It has seen better days. But if you are looking for a hotel with quiet rooms, a refrigerator in rooms, good heating and ventilation, good free wifi, good buffet breakfast including cooked and continental food, this would suit you. Staff in reception are polite, friendly and helpful. A good supermarket is about 5 mins walk away. There were a few difficulties.... firstly the distance from the main restaurant hub down near the harbour. Museums, bars, bistros, nightlife, are concentrated down near the Concert Hall and harbour. This hotel is at the other end of town a short walk from the public bus station. Lots of walking every day. There are limited restaurants nearby and only breakfast and a snack bar are available in the hotel. Secondly, it can be tricky trying to get warm water in the bathroom. Lots of very hot water comes out of the shower and taps but often too hot to use. Take care with children in bathrooms.
I'm going to be completely honest here..... the room (a "design room") was wasted on me as I spent so little time at the hotel. Room 102 was on the ground floor right next to the road... but didn't bother me. Not much road noise. The room was finished to a high standard with ample storage space, and immaculate. The reception staff were so helpful and I highly recommend this if you're staying in Reykjavik. Close to bus stop 13 for transfers/excursions.
A friend and I stayed for three nights. The staff was extremely helpful and provided us with solid suggestions and recommendations. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were varied and very good. While I thought everything I tried was good, I felt the assorted breads and yogurt were excellent!
Had a short break here. The triple room is ideal for a small family and the hotel is well located a short walk from the main shopping street. Breakfast is a simple buffet but plenty to fill you up for the day ahead. The big let down was we were missed by housekeeping, the receptionist tried to say it was because we must have left out a do not disturb sign but since we didn’t have one in the room that was not possible! So with wet towels and depleted supplies in the room we are a little disappointed. To be told the cleaner has gone home isn’t really an acceptable response. A shame because if it wasn’t for this I would have left a far more positive review. Also the shower over the bath didn’t work.
