Le Pietri Urban Hotel

Nice little business hotel

Perfectly clean room, with a very comfortable bed. The staff was very helpful and t was easy to communicate in English or French. My only complaint is that I ordered an assortment of Moroccan salads from room service (which were delicious) and asked for them vegetarian and without any meat repeatedly, but there was still a dish that I realized had chicken in it. I understand this is a foreign concept in Morocco, but I was a little surprised that this international hotel did not understand. Still, I'd stay again.

Riad Dar Jabador

A Must-Stay / Il faut y rester

This riad was a charming, lovely stay and true to what others have said, the family is a terrific, loving group of people. Multilingual, I conversed mostly in French, a bit in English (my native language), and a bit in Arabic (learning, they were nice enough to hear me slaughter their beautiful tongue). They were SO welcoming and nice and helped Amber every question I had. Because of where the riad is, just off the street, it is very easy to find and away from the Rabat craziness. It is VERY easy and cheap to get to Rabat, either by boat across the oued/river or by tram, both a 10-15 min walk away. Also the food is soooo good! Definitely get dinner. Shokran bizaaf.

Hotel Mercure Rabat Sheherazade

Very nice hotel in a good location

Seems like Rabat is mainly a business destination. Hotels are kind of scattered around the city and Americans are not going to find any familiar brands. This hotel is part of the Accord chain and is very comfortable for an American business traveler. Breakfast is excellent. Dinner was also very good but the menu is fairly short - the Moroccan dishes were as good as I had in 2 weeks in the country. Small full service bar, good wine list with quite nice Moroccan wine selection. The Mercure is situated in a very nice neighborhood - kind of the medical district with lots of doctor's offices and laboratories. Nightlife (such as it is in Rabat)and the Medina are a short walk (just head toward the ocean and you can't miss it). Only downside was the lack of in-room internet. This was the case in every hotel I stayed in, in Nov 2009 regardless of the location or brand. Not sure if it was an economic thing or security thing. Internet worked fine in the lobby so either get one of the "high boost" wifi gadgets or plan on working in the lobby.
