Excellent service. Front desk superb. Acknowledged my birthday, which they discovered through my passport, and sent a cake up to my room. Very impressive. Breakfast very good as well as the service. Nice atmosphere.
I stayed in this hotel for two weeks and I must say it was a good experience. However, there are a few things I didn't like: 1. Paper thin walls. You can hear everything from room to room. 2. Room service. They forgot my order completely. They had me waiting over an our to which I found my order never existed.
We actually only stayed here during the day. We had had a disastrous night in a hostel in the old town and came here for some sleep before our flight home in the late evening. They gave us a room at the back and we loved every luxurious minute of it.
Visited in February for a conference and stayed the week. The hotel is in a nice location within walking distance to various food options. It's also about 30-40 mins drive from the airport. Cab fare was $25-$30. The staff there are fantastic and English speaking for the most part. Service was excellent. I had no complaints or issues with my room, as it was clean and spacious enough for my needs. It provides the basics - desk, chair, cable TV, flat screen, small fridge. I'm not sure about a safe as I didn't require one but I'm sure a hotel such as this would have. The only TINY thing I didn't like was there are no ice machines on the floors - you have to call room service to have ice delivered to your room. But that really isn't a major issue. I ate mainly at the cafe downstairs, just opposite reception for breakfast. The food is fantastic and quite reasonably priced. There are other dining options in the hotel but I chose to eat out mostly. I believe a buffet breakfast is offered at one of the restaurants for about $15, which I thought was too expensive. The cafe is much cheaper - but to each his own. Quito is a wonderful city and I would recommend Dann Carlton to anyone visiting the area.
I live in Quito, however I often find myself enjoying the laidback atmosphere at Liverpool Bar inside the hotel. Santiago, is one.of the best bartenders that I have ever met. Service is great, the drinks are even better, and the food is delicious. ( the best French Fries & dirty gin martinis ;) I meet wonderful travellers from all over the world here. Also it is a.great location in a.great neighborhood...good for before dinner drinks...or after dinner drinks. Cheers.
We arrived in Quito mid-afternoon and decided to book a hotel room to rest and clean up before heading to the airport @ 9 p.m. Second floor room made it a challenge to sleep due to noise from both hallway and street below. Good location. Very helpful staff. Very good in-house restaurant.
Hotel is very nice in appearance. Good restaurants in hotel. Coffee shop is very nice. Good staff! Good gym with very hot steam room....simple pool that can be busy. Rooms are good sized. Not all rooms have AC.
The hotel in general terms is good. Comfortable bed and room. Very good breakfast service, excellent Gym and superior service. The only reason I score with 4 is because the maintenance of the bathroom. Shower curtainwas moldy, rims rusty and in general deteriorated.
So this hotel has everything comfortable beds, clean rooms, safe location and wonderful staff. The breakfast is amazing and we have literally no complaints except.... Everything, and I do mean everything, in the hotel is washed in something that contains at least lavender and some other scents. Having a husband who has asthma around scents means we have to be extra cautious. The first night was dismal and we wound up having to air out all the bedding just to be able to get him to sleep on some serious drugs. However, in the morning, I went to the front desk told them what was going on and by the time we we returned from our tour around 2 in the afternoon the entire room had been changed out with Linens towels, sheets, and pillowcases which were fresh and did not smell of lavender. You have to give the staff credit they went above and beyond the call!
If you are looking for a modern area to stay in Quito, then the Dann Carlton hotel is your place to stay. It is conveniently located in the Carolina district, with major business, good restaurants and cafés in the neighborhood. Quito's traffic can be overwhelming if you are in the downtown area, that's why I recommend this hotel. The staff did everything possible to help me and also to please, especially when we did not like our first room. The hotel restaurant is excellent, but also the breakfast is wonderful. The reception area is pleasant and there is a café in the front that I did not try, but was always crowded, so I guess it must be good. I did not have any issue with outside noise, like other reviewers. My only issue is that it is about time for them to renovate the rooms. They are comfortable, but old, especially the bathroom. All in all, I can say that I would come back here next time in Quito.
