Hotel PUR Quebec, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

First of all, the only reason I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 was because it's website made you believe that the train station was really close. It was a bit more than one would want to walk, especially with luggage. The cab ride was only about $8.00 though. The hotel itself is modern, clean and friendly. It is within walking distance to Old Quebec City but you may want to take a cab back. Our room was small but beautiful. Our view looked directly onto a very old beautiful church. One thing I want to mention is the hotel restaurant. Usually, we do not eat at the hotel restaurant when we travel but this one was so very good. Exceptional food, beautifully presented. We ended up eating most breakfasts here (breakfast poutine was awesome) and also had dinner and a snack of freshly fried kettle chips with chipotle maple dip...do not miss it! Unless you want to stay right in Old Quebec City center, I would highly recommend this hotel. Very central to the major sites, museums, bakeries and pier.
MY visit to Quebec City was fabulous. The Hotel Pur was very modern, clean and friendly. There was some difficulty with English in the restaurant at breakfast but all in all staff were quite accommodating in trying to speak in English. Pur is walking distance to shopping and old Quebec although a hike, 20-30 minutes. Although... if I were to return I would stay in one of the many old character hotels in the old city. After all... that's why tourists go to Quebec City. I would also recommend a guided tour of the old city as the history is fascinating
good hotel for short stay, nothing special, but has confutable rooms, good location, restaurant is ok. What is negative of this hotel that it feels all rooms has connecting doors. and there are always risk to have noisy neighbor
I visit Quebec City several times a year and usually stay at the Pur. I like the small modern rooms with a view of the church steps. I enjoy the indoor pool and the sauna. The hotel has been under renovation for nearly two years. The lobby has a more urban design, a games table and a wine distributor. Unfortunately, every time we wanted a glass of wine, no clean glasses were available. The hallways have been renovated. The rooms have the same layout but the furnishings have been upgraded. It's definitely an improvement. However, I was disappointed to see that they did not take the opportunity to add towel racks or at least, clothing hooks in the bathroom. There is only one small hook in the bathroom. A bit frustrating. We had only one bathrobe in our room and it took over 2 hours for the second one to arrive. The pool no longer has a lifeguard and the sauna was way too hot. I like saunas, I know that they are hot but I felt that this was not safe. On a more positive note, from our initial call to book the room to our check-out, the front desk service was efficient and friendly. The room prices have gone up with the renovations. For now, I miss the great deal that the PUR used to be. If they want to charge these prices in Québec City, they need to pay more attention to the details. It's ALL about the details.
Wife and I stayed one night while visiting Montreal and trip to Quebec. We made mistake and came one night too early. They were nice enough to accommodate our mistake and had a room open. Nice hotel, just a bit of walk to central tourist area but not too bad.
The neighborhood is away from the core and has a college atmosphere. There are several good restaurants with in walking distance. its about 2km to the tourist area but the taxi ride is only about $10. The rooms are modern and the bathroom is modest in size. It has a full service restaurant and the breakfast is good.
Hotel PUR was a wonderful experience. The staff we encountered during our stay were all so helpful and charming. The location of the hotel was perfect for us because it allowed us to walk everywhere. Close to many shops and restaurants. We chose to pay the daily rate for parking which was fine by us to be able to store our car in the garage parking located beneath the hotel and received an In & Out pass. We were so happy with our room. I personally love that the bathroom had a glass wall/ceramic tiled shower. I can't tolerate the hotel bathtub showers anymore. At Hotel PUR the bathrooms were so modern and I loved that the counter top ran from wall to wall giving us a tremendous amount of space for our stuff. My only complaint was that there were no hooks for our towels after showering. We had to toss them over the door or hand on handles. Our King size bed was so comfortable and it was gorgeous to lay there looking out the floor to ceiling windows. we lucked out and had great weather during our stay so the view was terrific. It was not a large room but I personally loved the size.It was perfect for 2 people. I would love to stay here again.
This hotel is great ! Pretty, luminous and very modern. Staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are perfect : good bed, a big window with an incredible view. The bathroom is too small though. Twenty minutes and a big stairs to climb (97 steps !), and we are in the Old City full of very old houses, little tortuous streets where I liked to loose myself. The Vieux-Port is animated, colourful and so beautiful ! Back in the hôtel with a supper of sandwiches and cakes from Chez Paillard, the best pâtisserie in town. In the morning, the breakfast is outstanding, copious, perfect, with eggs, waffles, pancakes, and a lot of fruit with each plate. We like it.
Stayed four nights while we toured old Quebec City. It's a very modern hotel, clean with a very helpful staff. Our rental car lost power and the hotel staff tried to assists us to boost the battery. Their charger was not powerful enough so we did have to call a service. The only negative is the parking garage is not high enough to accommodate a regular service vehicle and if the car had to be towed, it would have been a serious problem. Also, the parking fees are high. The hotel has a nice restaurant and bar with many restaurants nearby. It's location is in easy driving to the major sites. Our group would stay here again.
We just stayed at the hotel Pur for the first time and we liked it a lot...valet parking for our car, nice and efficient clerks at the front desk. Our room was on the 14th floor with a beautiful view of the City of Quebec. Very comfortable king size bed, large room, very clean. Flat screen tv, free Wifi. There is an indoor pool on the 3rd floor with a sauna. All in all we enjoyed our stay there a lot and we look forward to staying there again! Also, the hotel restaurant, la Table, is a pure delight...don't miss eating there!
