Overall, we had a nice time. It was very affordable and wonderful for families. The pools were nice, but lacking enough shade/umbrellas. The food was average, but with the cost of our vacation, we didn't expect it to be great. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony facing the pools and ocean, which made our room much nicer. The staff was amazing; friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but nothing exceptional, other than the hotel staff being so welcoming. We most likely won't return to this hotel, however.

Amazing! Food, pool and ocean experience! Recommend a Deluxe Suite. Beautiful patios.

The hotel service, food, our room, yoga on the beach, pool area, and setting were excellent. The hotel could use better evening entertainment- pretty weak. It is not for the young crowd who like to party. Also, no hot tub. It is more for families and mid-older people. The beaches in Puerto Vallarta are not the best- dark sand and sometimes like gravel. We didn't swim in the ocean cuz it always looked murcky. Walking the beach was fine but walking to the north were the locals- run down shacks and careful of the crocodiles that could easily slip under the so-called fence around their swamp. We did the Outdoor Adventure tour- excellent but would not recommend it if you have certain health conditions. Walked the boardwalk in Malecon of the city- excellent- shopping, art attractions, navel museum, and Lady of Quadalupe church. Also walk the few blocks to the Marina to see huge yachts.

Great experience, the all inclusive aspect just makes for an easy stress free holiday

We will be back! The beach isn't really used. But the pool is great! Wish there were more vegetarian options with the food. But I did except it to be minimal going into Mexico. We're already planning our next trip!

This was my 3rd trip to velas Vallarta. Every time not wanting to leave. The resort is about 25 years old and shows it age but the people who work there make it a great place to be at. Anything you need they will be there to help you get it. The wait staff is truely impressive as they are some of the best I've had the pleasure of dealing with. A perfect place for a nice week long getaway from the pressures of life in America. Highly recommend to couples or families.

Very nice place. Better ocean on the carribiean side of mexico however. Everything was great, especially the spa.

Having booked Velas Vallarta for our honeymoon, I was hoping everything would go smoothly as we were only there for 3.5 days and just wanted a really relaxing time. Upon our arrival, the staff was friendly and offered us some flavor water to cool down. We were taken to our room, where we were very pleased. We had a 2 bd/2bth suite with 2 private balconies and an ocean view - it was so lovely. We really enjoyed the all-inclusive part of the hotel as well, with room service, the delicious offerings at both restaurants, and pool-side service as well. It was truly the perfect honeymoon for us. The only hiccup we had was during the check in, the guest services person advised we had a certain credit towards anything at the spa. Once we were at the spa, the receptionist there said it was only for certain services. It was a little embarrassing for me to want to switch services then, but the service I got (seaweed scrub) was also fantastic.

It was a wonderful place excellent on everything there would go back there again.

My friends and I had an amazing time here! Superb food, drinks and staff!

The staff was very friendly. We were upgraded to a larger suite which was okay but was by the elevator so you heard every conversation like they were in the room. It appears that the all the buildings are possibly the same layout so If you get upgraded to a room that ends in 16 you may want to stay in a different room. One advantage I did not need to set an alarm clock to wake up early. I only ate at one restaurant but it was good. The drinks were very good since they had jack Daniels and Crown. The growns are very beautiful. The beach had nice canopies for shade. I would suggest putting up some type of rule that if someone leaves it for 1hr that others can take it over. It is frustrating to see chairs taken all day and never see anyone using them. But this is a typical problem at resorts. Only negative is the beach. the beach has sand but down at the shoreline there are river stones which for me hurt to walk on. It is my understanding that just past them it is sandy but I would suggest taking water shoes and you should be fine.

A great spot for families--not as ideal for couples without children but very nice, overall.

Went on a solo vacation just to unwind. This hotel was great. The suite was big and comfortable, with a great balcony overlooking the ocean and mountains that connects both to the living room and bedroom. I suggest the all inclusive package. The restaurants served pretty good food and room service was very prompt. Although I went alone, it's a great family vacation. They also cater to children activities.

Just cool. Warm pool, Rooms a little bit old.. but kind OK. Too much junk food like hamburgers and hot dogs.

We have previously stayed at a high-end sister property Casa Velas, so our expectations were set admittedly pretty high. We felt like we have paid a bit extra to get an above average family experience at Velas Vallarta compared to the other all-inclusive resorts that were a better deal at the time. So whereas we had generally a good time and enjoyed our stay, things like no steam room at the gym, super cold water in the kids pool, randomly closed restaurants on an occasional night, deafeningly loud and apparently un-adjustable pop music by the pools were disappointing.

We stayed at this resort for our destination wedding and we could not have picked a better location. The resort is smaller than the ones we have been to in Cancun which was actually quite nice since you are right on the beach or at the pool. Everyone and everything was close by. I have never had better service anywhere before, staff were incredibly accommodating to any requests.

It's a good place to stay with the family, but don't expect too much entertainment if you have very young childres (<3yrs old). The food is up to snuff, and the staff are very friendly and courteous. But, the overall experience is not worth the cost.

We really enjoyed our stay at Velas Vallarta. The accommodations are decent - the A/C was a bit noisy an unpredictable but overall pretty comfortable. We had a 1 bedroom suite for a family of 5. The restaurants ha great meals, few lines and the staff was amazing. Our kids had a blast. The swimming pools are great - the kids had a blast going thru the "tunnels" connecting the pools.

Outstanding service and excellent food. Enjoyed casino night, tennis, and boogie boarding. Close to airport.

Two restaurants that we were tired of eating at by the end of five days. There was not that many hotel based activities that were worth doing, and they did not have many beach activities. Bar staff at almost every bar was fantastic though. No hot tube to sit in on the few rain days. We had a honeymoon upgrade which consisted of two twin beds. Really?? Overall, we would not stay here again.
