The hotel was perfect for us because we had a car. Its location was very convenient to spot different touristic spots in the city. Walking was also an option too. The popular beach and a huge natural park were far from there but there was a beach option close we discovered finishing our visit.
We spend in this hotel short summer vacation with our 3yo daughter. Hotel is very nice and we find location very convinient however we had rent-a-car. Rooms are a bit archaic in apperance but still comfortable. Food is great for breakfast we did not use lunch or dinner since the prices were skyhigh. Pool area is very nice and convinient. Playground is decent but not more than this. Parking is not a problem at all. Wi fi is great ae well. Overall is good hotel.
I stayed here for three nights as part of a handball team. We had originally booked a room for three people, but one decided to stay with someone else, so we ended up being just two, and that was a really good thing. The room is a bit too small for three grown ups and their luggage. It also needs a major upgrade, both room and especially the bathroom, it was quite hard to get in and out of the bathtub. Good things - quite good tv with lots of channels, small fridge/minibar in the room, pool with sunbeds and free parking. The breakfast was also very good. The not so good- service and quality of the food in the bar- very slow and they had no idea what they had or didn't have. There really is not anything close by, but it is easy to access the roads surrounding Porto and a short 10 min drive from the airport. If I was going to Porto again, I would stay closer to the city.
In general the hotel is OK, the rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. The air-conditioning system works really good and it's definitively needed in this area in the summer. However I wasn't very happy with the location, it's really easy to find and perfect to commute to work, but there's absolutely nothing to do in the surroundings. When you search for restaurants everything is far, and taxi or car is needed; also the area is not really inviting in case one would like to take a walk/run at night. The worst point of my visit was the service during breakfast, the lady who happened to be there during Tuesday and Wednesday is really not customer oriented at all and should look for another job in my opinion.
I stayed two nights in this hotel in April 2017. warm welcome, room clean and with all convenient equipment, there is also a swimming pool but not open all the year. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices. I especially appreciated to run on the seaside on the evening, you are 5 min far from the entrance of the DOURO to the ocean, and you can run aside the sea cost, with the sunset, purely great!!! Be careful because when you get back you have to climb a little bit as the hotel is located on the hill.
Arrived after a longish journey. Car park was free. Check in was smooth, quick and helpful. Room was very good. Clean and spacious. Aircon was adequate to keep room cool on warm days. Bar was pleasant and prices were quite low for a hotel. Breakfast was excellent with 2 optional prices. A smaller meal could be had served in the bar for less than half the full b'fast price Lighter evening meals were also available in the bar. The restaurant meals were buffet style. The starters and sweets were very good. The mains were fine but certainly not gourmet
On arrival the staff where friendly and helpful we where a bit early for our room but it didn't present us with a problem.the hotel and rooms where a bit tired but in general very clean. We stayed bed and breakfast only which was very enjoyable with plenty of choices to eat . The hotel has a restaurant for afternoon and evening meals although we didn't stay for either as there was to much to see in Porto.Regardin location it was ideal if you had a car if not it will cost you about 7euros to the cable car ,which is a must, this takes you to the top of the iron bridge which you can walk across into Port. The restaurants on the front of the harbour can be quite expensive, stick to the back streets. We paid 20euros for main meal and a bootle of wine. The boat trips are great .In general a very enjoyable short break.
This hotel is not a 4* hotel. I have stayed in a number of Novotel hotels in Europe and booked because of previous good experiences. The bedrooms are in urgent need of updating. They are tired, old, lack any comfort. Mattress is terrible. Carpets are stained.
As December is a peak season for tourism, we didn't get rooms in hotels situated in the center of Porto. Hence we decided to book a room in Novotel which is ten minutes away from center of the city. The hotel is good for a short stay, probably 1 or 2 days. The hotel is not very large, the interiors are modern and minimalistic. The hotel has a garden, swimming pool, bar and a restaurant. The restaurant had limited choice. Our room was neither too big nor too small. It had all the basics amenities. We had a pleasant stay.
While not in central Porto we found the location quite convenient being on the road out of town and a short ferry rise iver to Porto. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the outdoor playground and pool were a big hit with our daughter.
