This hotel was possibly the cream or the crop back in the 70’s but now, to say it’s outdated is an understatement. The owners must renovate. Aircon is from 1970’s as to the outdated decor, lift etc.. The balcony felt like I was in prison. Breakfast for a 4 star is more like a 2 star with a very basic choice, coffee from a machine type. Pool and Spa is out of the question. Looked unkept and out of date. Really sad to have to write this but it’s true, I feel I must warn those wishing to book for a romantic weekend by the coast line. Only plus is that it’s 5 minutes walk to the sea and the front of house staff are friendly and helpful. In my view, you should shut down and refurbish.
On the seafront close to the bus service (11 & 12 for the old town). It’s ideal if you want a haven away from the furious centre of things; especially if you want to cycle or walk into/from town. Porto old Centre is about 9 km away, €12 or so by taxi or less than €2 if you take the bus. Clean, nice rooms; not a bad breakfast and personable staff. So, yes, overall a decent hotel experience.
Hotel is fine but old , stuff is nice, food ok, but the views of the ocean are unforgetable. It is worh of value, and easy to reach to center of Porto by walk. Choose room with the view othervise you missed the real thing.
What a wonderful hidden gem this hotel is! Just fabulous!! The location is perfect, for those of us who want to be by the beach and away from the noise and grime of the city centre. The room was nicely decorated, super clean and with the biggest super-comfy bed. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were just great, the breakfast choice was superb. There are three bus services stopping virtually on the doorstep, which take you to the city centre. Numbers 11 and 12 go straight to the city centre hub, near São Bento station, whereas number 902 goes a bit further out to Boavista. All the Reception staff are super efficient, friendly and happy to assist, providing outstanding customer service. This hotel is now my first choice and I plan to return there next time I visit Porto, hopefully for a longer stay (I stayed for 7 days).
Oh, what an amazing spot! Right by the ocean! Gorgeous view! The staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestions on how to get around. The breakfast buffet was delicious! So many choices! Quiet room and very clean. Bare in mind that it's a hotel that has not had any renovation in the last 15 years, but it's worth it for the rate paid. It was a great choice!
Honestly, for a Golden Tulip I expected more but the deal I got on Booking.com was too good to pass up. We have a pretty big room with an ocean view from the balcony. It's comfortable and clean and everything works well. It doesn't have the luxuries of a 5 star hotel like bathrobes but it's still nice. Breakfast is very good and a decent spread for 7.5 Euro. Downsides There is no room service or cooking service other than the affiliated restaurant Casa Branca which is next door. So if in the middle of the night you get the munchies or need a cup of tea you need to go to the restaurant. If it is closed, too bad. They don't have portable irons so all ironing must be done by their staff. Staff are generally nice and helpful. It has been a good stay so far.
We went, the three of us , to spend a week in Porto. We chose this hotel because of the location initially.. next to the beach and silent... There is a restaurant beside called Casa Branca that serves good food in case you are lazy to go out.. But the STAFF really made the difference!!! My father has mobility problems and does Peritoneal Dialysis... so we had to have the supplies from Baxter shifted to the Hotel 2 days before arrival..They were very helpful and genuinely nice... Special thanks to Andrea, Pedro, Carla, Claudia, Solange , Sr Oliveira , Cristina... and others that belong to this amazing team... Breakfast is delicious! Strongly recommended!!!
I enjoyed my stay here for several reasons but I would caution anyone against leaning too heavily on the 4-star rating. This seaside property is clean, with lovely views, and my children were thrilled with the proximity to the beach. However, the place is outdated. This is noticeable in the very details that typically earn a hotel a 4-star rating, such as interior design, furniture, spa facilities, and green initiatives. Regardless -- as I've already said -- there is much to like here. The staff is well-spoken and attentive. The breakfast offers good choices. And the cooling sea breeze blowing in through the windows can make up for a lot. If renovation is still underway, as others have suggested, this place may earn its four stars yet.
This hotel is about 20m from the sea front, so the rooms have views of the beach. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok: fresh fruit, selection of breads, cheese, ham etc and cooked options like eggs and bacon. Gym doesn't open until 10 which was annoying as I like to exercise before breakfast, but you can run along the seafront instead. Perfect location if you want to stay by the beach, 5km from town centre but not hard to get to.
Previously known as CasaBranca, now although tired and wilting slightly it's obvious superb quality from its past glory still carries it through. Un obtrusive extremely pleasant helpful reception staff. Spotless well sized rooms at a great location were only spoiled by the miserable surely spa attendant. I don't expect beaming sunshine smiles, however a simple reply to a client wishing you good day in your own language should at least receive a response. However, we would not hesitate to stay here again.
