Hotel Solverde Spa & Wellness Center

Hotel has a little bit out dated look and you can see from some things that they are not renovating very actively the hotel, but this is quite typical for many hotels in Portugal :) The bed was quite hard. Breakfast was very good. Location is great next to the beach and the room had a nice sea side view. One of the elevators had a broken button so you could not go to the second floor with the elevator. Again typical in Portugal. The big swimming pool outside with warm salty water was very nice. Laura, the hotel manager's parrot, was a fun and entertaining :) If I will go back to Portimao I might return to Solverde. If I could choose one thing that I wish they would make better, it would be more comfortable beds.

The Wellness and Spa in the name got us. Well aware that it was a 1/2 train ride to Porto - we chose to stay in Espinho - and were not disappointed. Hotel : The hotel, though not new, was well maintained and the outdoor pool area, though inviting and visually stunning with the ocean in the background, was too cold to use. The indoor pool, however, was large, clean and warm - one of the best indoor pools at a hotel; I believe it was a salt water pool. You have access to a number of sauna rooms from the indoor pool area. Note that a swimming cap is mandatory for men and women in pools throughout Europe. The gym was a good size and well equipped. There is access to the wooden walkways along the beach area (beautiful walk) from the outside. Ample parking for your rental car. Room : We chose a room with a sea view - each has a small balcony which could seat 2 comfortably. The only complaint is that you are very close to your neighbour (separated only by a glass screen) and can hear every conversation, next to, above and below you. Should you keep the balcony door open, noise comes in freely as well. The room was comfortable, well equipped with a security box, TV with English channels, large bathroom with all the amenities and a small fridge with a minibar. Excellent free WiFi. Spa : Clean, comfortable and elegant. The hydrotherapy salt water pool was great and the massages we had were professional and relaxing. Staff : Reception staff and porters were all consistently polite and helpful. Check-in and out went smoothly. They took time to answer questions and assist with directions etc. Cleaning staff were efficient and friendly, as were the staff in the restaurant, bar, spa and exercise service desk. Kudos to all. Location : No restaurants or services within walking distance (except a gas station across the main entrance) but a short drive to town, restaurants, the Solverde Casino and Espinho train station where you take the train into Porto. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to return - and we do plan to return!

It's rated as a five star hotel but I would say it's more of a decent four-star. Good spa facilities and excellent location just a short walk via boardwalk down to beach but outdoor pool area very industrial looking and not particularly inviting. Good food and helpful staff.

Just returned from a 4 day stay at this Hotel. A reasonable price for a triple room with breakfast and a very nice room with a sea view. Spotless clean and kept that way by an excellent cleaning staff. Reception and bar staff all first class, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice, however here is my only slight criticism that the hot buffet could have been hotter. Hotel facilities first class two heated pools and sauna and stream rooms free of charge.Spa pool and treatments were available and my wife and daughter both had massages which they enjoyed. All in all a great break and will definitely return. Thank you Solverde.

Good stay, Indoor pool good but take swimming caps as compulsory to wear in indoor pool !!! Wooden Platform to walk over to Espinho town and beach .Helpful staff. Should have more vegetarian choice for breakfast and vegetarian food should be on different counter to non -vegetaians..Good gym. Lifts in hotel found jacuzzi- too forceful and not worth 10 eurosp/p Trains available to Porto too from hotel- 15-20min walk.

We booked for a week and stayed for almost 2 weeks ! This should say more than all other reaction ... but never the less : A very nice staff at the reception, in the bar, in the restaurant, the cleaning ladies, always friendly and helpful ! A spacious room with a good bed and spacious bathroom - every day as clean. And breakfast ... nothing that you can't think of, and if it isn't there, it will be brought to you ... The only thing that might keep you awake at night, is the sound of the see :) !!! We will certainly recommend Solverde Spa & Wellness Center !!!

Large US style hotel, on the beach. More business/conference focused but perfectly adequate for tourists. Looks a little dated both inside and out but spotlessly clean and scrupulously maintained. Nice lobby and bar area. Excellent restaurant for dinner (3 course set menu € 26), good food and service. Buffet breakfast, good but unremarkable. Large rooms and bathrooms. Only disappointment was the WiFi which was a bit sporadic and nothing nearby, except a Lidl. Pool towels supplied, plenty of sun beds but no pool bar. We stayed here as a base from which to visit Porto (lovely city) but also for some pool/beach as well. Hotel is in between two rail stations, one (Granja) to the north, about 17 mins walk and another (Espinho) to the south, about 30 minute walk. Better service and tickets available from Espinho but once you have tickets and work out the timetable Granja is more convenient - main station in Porto is about 30 minutes by train. Espinho is a seaside town that has seen better days. There appeared to be a couple of reasonable fish restaurants but nothing else of attraction.

This was not the hotel, location or type of holiday we had booked - we were bumped off by the 'opulent' inland country and golf Hotel Vidalgo (great reviews, but they clearly don't care about their clients and regularly overbook and send people here). From the word go, Bruno on check in couldn't do enough to help sort out a mess that was not of their making, coordinating with tour companies, taxis, golf courses etc. Meals found for late arrivals with no fuss etc etc. Wine recommendations at dinner were excellent and reasonably priced. Great location by the sea. So, if this style of hotel is for you, the staff will provide an outstanding experience

My Wife and attended a wedding in the solverde wellness and spa hotel 4th to 7th Aug 2017 Check in was straight forward with no complications and our bags were quickly taken to our room on the 4th floor The room was comfortable, modern and was big enough for two people with a large comfortable bed The view from the balcony was ok as it overlooked the pool area A Minibar is also provided with the usual inflated prices Wi-Fi in the rooms was good and didn’t give us any problems The main reception/bar area is well stocked with comfy chairs and couches and is staffed with very helpful and pleasant people It also and has a nice central smoking area if you so wish to use it There are two pools one outdoor and one indoor (heated) Access to the beach is through a tunnel under the rail tracks at the end of the outdoor pool And has a boardwalk that goes right into the town. We used the restaurant on one occasion and unless you’re having a fish dish I would not bother with it I ordered Lasagne and an not quite sure what I got it was mince and weak gravy in pasta (I don’t eat fish however I was assured it was excellent and it looked it ) As we were on a short stay and attending a wedding and constantly on the go we didn’t get to try out all this location has to offer but overall we had a very pleasant stay And we would consider staying here again John and Jackie Kerrigan Aug 2017

It was like a trip back in time to teenage family holidays but we kind of liked that. Yes it could be more modern but it did what it did well and the Spa bit was great especially the sauna/steam part which beat others we have stayed at by miles with about 5 different rooms including an ice room.
