I chosed this hotel to balance location and price for a short visit of Porto on a business trip with a rental car. The hotel is near to the highway, windows are sufficiant soundproofed and parking is free of charge. The price for the taxi to visit the old town of porto is around 6 to 10 euro (until the bridge on the right side of douro). By car it takes around 10min. I could benefit from the shoping mal just beside the hotel, very convenient. Great view to Porto from the restaurant terasse of the food area in the mal! Hotel Breakfast was very good, service and reception personal very friendly. The room was spacious and clean. I can recommend this hotel!
to start with a great location, with parking spaces and a nice view. The room was very good with high standards. The breakfast was one of the best that i had in Portugueses hotels. The price, for a 4 start hotel was quite nice and we are close to Porto, Arrábida Shopping and Gaia of course.
I usually use this hotel has my base for my business trips to Porto because is very well located in a hill top in the Gaia side of the Douro river, with an easy access by car. The overall level of quality is high and the personnel are customer driven and always available and kind. The rooms have good size and are clean and comfortable. I recommend the break-fast due to its diversity and quality.
Located next to a big shopping center but not too far from the city center, this hotel is a good compromise for comfort and price while visiting a busy city such as Porto. Good quality breakfast buffet.
Stayed here for 4 nights and I found it was a very enjoyable stay. Staff was friendly and helpful, nice location since it's very close to two shopping malls by foot, 10 minutes from Porto city center by car, and 15-20 minutes by car from the airport. Room was nice n' cosy, always well done. Great hotel overall.
I organised a Wine Appreciation trip to Porto and the Douro - 49 Appreciators! We spent 3 days in Porto, which the group loved, before travelling to Tabucao via the lovely historic Guimaraes. The Mercure at Gaia was our choice for seeing picturesque Porto. The hospitality the Hotel offered us was exemplary. Hotels on the Porto side of the river seemed to be much more expensive and I did not feel that they really wanted a group as large as ours! In actual fact, there is quite a lot to do and see on the Gaia side, as all the Port tasting houses are here. We did the traditional "6 bridges" cruise, and had a walking tour through the old streets of Porto. If we had been here just one week later, we would have been caught up in the festival of St Joao!! Our evening meals were laid up in the large Breakfast room and the buffets were of a satisfactory standard. The Breakfasts were wonderful! The rooms are the standard "Mercure" style and pattern and the beds were wonderfully comfortable! There was always room for our coach (bus) to park and pick-up or drop off, and the adjacent Arriba Shopping Centre provides both convenience and a bit of light relief in the evenings after dinner. It seemed to be open very late! We thank the staff and management for all the help that made this stay so successful.
The hotel it's not downtown but it's next to the Arrabida Sopping Center so you can have dinner, go shopping or go to the cinema. I would recommend to rent s car. Otherwise is quite neat the center do you can always use a taxi. Excellent to make small conventions. Service is excellent.
We visited the town of Porto with a great crowd and this hotel provided us with a pleasant stay and only breakfast was very good, lunch and dinner we were eating out. Would recommend to everyone to visit Porto and definitely recommend the hotel.
We were here for 3 nights in March. Good parking for the car (outside was free) The staff were always smiling and so helpful and cheerful. The room was brilliant and spacious with extra large shower in the bathroom. The breakfast was one to satisfy EVERYBODY!! (and great quality food throughout). We had dinner in the small dining area and it was reasonably priced and good without being "gourmet"! House wine was excellent also! I look forward to bringing my Wine Appreciation group here in June!
Comfortable rooms and very helpful staff. Plenty of car parking, excellent food and in particular the buffet breakfast. A huge array of breads, cheeses, fruits of all sorts, seeds, cereals, and an array of hot food. Even a separate little cart of cakes for children (used by adults!). We are taking a group of people there this summer, and I look forward to returning to this hotel.
