Gorgeous hotel - upon arrival we were upgraded to a lovely suite making our stay in Porto even more delightful. All staff were really attentive in spite of the hotel being fully booked with "dignitaries". Great location would definitely return!
Had higher expectations of this hotel given the previous reviews…..our experience was subpar. We had a deluxe room reserved and I will say the rooms are small but if that was the only issue we would be ok with it. We got to Porto on an unusually warm day and despite our best efforts and multiple calls to the front desk (and visits from technicians who claimed to fix the issue) we couldn’t get the room to cool down. As a result we had a sleepless night in a very warm room. It was one of the most uncomfortable nights in a hotel. We tried dinner and breakfast at the in-house restaurant and both were mediocre at best. Service as very slow and I ended up returning my entrée because the cod I ordered was TOUGH….they claimed that is how cod is prepared. I subsequently tried cod in many other restaurants and nowhere else was the preparation quite as inedible. In the restaurant’s defense they did agree to exchange for a different main which tasted better. I would give this hotel a pass in future trips to Porto!
What a delightful hotel with a staff which focuses on service! The concierges' recommendations for dinner were excellent and budget friendly. The room was spotless with a manager making sure that it was serviced properly. The staff at the reception desk were helpful. The icing for us was my wife needed a doctor who arrived within an hour with a staff member. We could not have asked for a better place to stay.
I have only positive things to say about this hotel. The location is ideal, the staff are top notch (a special thanks to the lovely concierge team for all of their tips), and our room was perfectly comfortable. We were a bit concerned about noise levels as we picked a room at the front of the hotel, facing the busy square, but we had no issues are were able to sleep soundly. All in all, a great address and one I would not hesitate to pick again.
Fantastic rooms perfectly appointed. I would suggest the front facing executive rooms. The balconies are not big enough to sit or relax on, but they do offer a good ambiance. We were at this hotel on the noisiest night of the year - Sao Joao - but we were able to relax and sleep. The breakfast buffet was very good with fresh squeezed orange juice and very good pastries. And the hotel gym was well-appointed as well. I suggest making use of the concierge service to make restaurant reservation before you arrive - just email them. The concierge desk is excellently staffed and very helpful. Overall a great stay. Suggestions for improvement: The massage beds in the spa are not high-end enough for a hotel of this quality. They should be more luxuriously padded and perhaps even heated.
We stayed 3 wonderful nights at this amazing hotel, which is decorated with a lot style. At the first night, we had a problem with our room , and after a short check, they upgraded us to a junior suite, which was outstanding. As you already noticed, the service was one of a kind, beginning at the entrance with the bell boys, and then the front desk, the guest relations, the concierge, who gave us brilliant tips about the restaurants in and around the city and the room service staff. The hotel's location is perfect. The suite was very clean and with all the right amenities. Breakfast buffet was rich and excellent. No doubt that we will be back.
We were the happy guest at Intercontinental Hotel in Porto. This hotel is well-managed. We stayed at suite, which was clean and easy to use. The following is my experience with them: 1. Transportation: We used their limousine service. The drivers were excellent, and ride was comfortable. 2. Room: Clean and ease of use. Everyday, their housekeeping lady cleaned the room well. We could relax in the room. 3. Concierge: They were very helpful, particularly Rogerio. I wanted to visit a specific winery so that I can purchase the 40 years old port wine, which I did drink in Japan and could not believe the taste. Joel (manager) and Rogerio were extremely helpful to set up the visit, arrange the car and respond to my inquiries on real-time. Because of their excellent help, I could purchase and ship many bottles to my home in California. 4. Money exchange: They recommend for me to go to the money exchange at the station, which is only one block away. The rate was better than ATM when I change smaller amount. 5. Restaurant: They use the excellent food material. We had breakfast buffet and dinner (twice). Only problem: We asked no salt. Even the waiter said no salt when she delivered the dish, the food had a lot of salt. There is the communication problem between the waiter and the chef. (I was ready to ask but my wife stopped me to complain.) Since they have the excellent facility and excellent people/services in excellent location, they are the best in Porto. We will go back to this hotel when we will be back to Port.
Two nights at this hotel were more than enough. The room was fine but the front desk team were probably the least friendly people we experienced in 9 days in Portugal. The Concierge and the location for this hotel kept me from giving a lower rating. The dining room used for breakfast is too small for the size of the hotel and hence it provides for a very frantic and chaotic start to the day. The Concierge provided a complimentary port tasting for Graham's Port which was a very nice touch. In addition the Concierge recommendations for dinner were excellent.
next to San Bento train station and metro stop. Very convenient to get to anywhere. Decorated very luxuriously and elegantly. Upgraded to a corner room which is very comfortable. No pool. Staff was helpful. Late-checkout was given by 3 PM.
Was upgraded to an corner duplex suite. Fabulous space. So much space we didnt know what to do with it. Very friendly and professional staff. The location couldn't be beat. We walked everywhere and this is so central that you can stop by have a drink, change, take a nap (or whatever) and then go to dinner. Wonderful stay and will definitely return when we are in the area again.
