Portland Regency Hotel & Spa

Great location. Good staff. Valet parking terrific. However there are no grab bars in the shower/tub. This could be very dangerous.

Wanted a hotel from which we could explore Portland during a brief overnight before catching our plane. Regency was a perfect place--within walking distance of all major sights, room was comfortable and quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. Made us want to extend our stay.

The Portland Regency is a classic hotel filled with tradition and intimacy. Not a lot of high-tech wizardry, nor boutique hotel quirkiness. Just a comfortable, well-appointed hotel with traditional amenities and a desire to make guests comfortable.

This hotel needs to update the rooms. We expected 2 queen beds especially for the price, but they were doubles. Also we called for ice and didn't get it after 45 minutes and had to call again.

Stayed in town because of a concert. The valet Rowan (I'm so sorry if I'm misspelling your name) was the champion of our stay and definitely the reason this is a 5* review instead of a 4*. He went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the comfort of my friends. Thank you!

The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. My husband and I were able to easily walk to the waterfront as well as into downtown Portland. The gym and spa was great as well. Great experience!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Portland. Very friendly and helpful staff, and the spa was fabulous.

There is some uniqueness to this hotel and it fits in well with the are it is in. Favorites: quite room, helpful staff, and clean hotel. Improvements: Bed was a bit too soft for my taste, hotel is in need of some updating (inc. the fitness center--good diversity of equipment, but getting dated). Food prices in restaurant were high, but there was a ton of great places to eat within 1-2 blocks, so go out and enjoy what Portland has to offer instead. Overall, good stay.

Great hotel. I thought I reserved 1 night but it appears that I reserved 2 nights. I was to arrive on Thursday but I wanted to arrive Friday. That hotel said they wouldn't charge me but I had to contact Orbitz for a refund of what I paid.

Needed a get away and choose this Web site and booked it through Orbitz and got a 3 night package back in January. It was a good deal and could not pass it up for a April vacation.

A great place to stay on a cold winter night. We had a superb meal at the hotel's restaurant and then took off for a concert. Perfect location.

My wife and I were upgraded to a Regency Suite room, and it was incredible. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a window seat, fireplace, whirlpool tub, king-sized bed. On top of that, the walls are brick and it's located in one of the turrets of the building so the room has tons of character and a great view.

Overall sort of run down. Portions remodeled but not done well. The staff is really good and responsive.

The hotel is conveniently located near the old port and is within walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants. We stayed in a regular king room. Overall the stay was pleasant but the bathroom could use some updating. However we would not hesitate to stay here again.

This was an extreme experience for me and my wife. It was very comfortable hotel and the staffs were amazing, very caring, and enthusiastic. Thank you.

WE had a really good time staying at this hotel. Almost everyone was so nice and helpful. We love having drinks out in the courtyard. The only reason not giving 5 stars was because we had a waitress in the courtyard that was not nice. We ordered sparkling wine and I asked if they had anything other than prosecco. Her response was how expensive do we want? We were going to go somewhere else, however a nice guy from the bar came over and offered us a different sparkling wine and we were happy with his recommendation. When we went to leave that waitress whispered something at us? The next day, we went back to the courtyard and sat down to enjoy another glass of sparkling wine and the same waitress gave us a dirty look? However, the nice guy saw us and came over and offered us the same sparkling wine he recommended. Be sides the waitress in the courtyard, everyone else at the hotel was great. I had a great time talking to the maids and getting extra chocolates for bedtime.

The positives are the location, which is excellent and the front desk and valet staff, who were friendly and helpful. The negatives are as follows. The rooms are rundown and very poorly maintained. The air-conditioning was inadequate. The bathroom was not clean. The hotel is very very overpriced for what you get. The room furniture is very low quality. The bathroom fixtures are of very low quality as well. I will not stay here again. Very overpriced.

Went to Maine for training. Pleasant surprise as the Regency was excellent all other participants at the training were complaining about their stay at a hotel closer to the training site.

This hotel was very nice. Great bar with food down stairs. The location is perfect so close to everything in Old Port.

Great accommodations and friendly helpful staff. Portland Regency hotel is in a great location within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Would like to visit again in warmer weather. We had a very pleasant stay.
