As a Rydges priority rewards guest I just have to say how disappointed I was with our recent stay. We generally stay at Sails but decided against it due to their refurbishment that is in progress now. We chose to stay in a balcony room however was on the bottom level with a view to the pool and water. The view was good but it wasn’t private at all. The deck chairs were less that half a meter away from our balcony. If it was peak season I can only imagine it would be a nightmare for noise and as mentioned privacy. The rooms are dated and in need of updating. The beds are great and the reason I stay at Rydges hotels however on this occasion they were not made well and were not tucked in at the top and in a fashion short sheeted at the bottom so my partner being 6 foot couldn’t sleep with his shoulders under the blanket. Now the doona or lack was very thin and it was quite a cool night so we looked for an extra blanket and there was none so we had to wait till the next day to get another blanket. Another disappointment was being charged for parking. This was not mentioned when booking and I think $12.50 per night is excessive for a regional property. It should be part of your room rate. We chose to park on the street. At Sails at least there is a free car park. Another issue was the 20% off you are offered being a Rydges member on food and beverage. We dropped into Zebu for a cocktail before we retired for the evening and was told that the discount was only valid when dining in the restaurant. It is a very confusing offer. The mini bar is also a bit of a joke. There is nothing good on offer there. You cannot eat Dominos. As someone that is in the industry and actually teaches at a Hotel Management School I have much to take away as for what NOT to do. So all in all, it wasn’t the most pleasant experience and will be looking elsewhere next time for somewhere else to stay.

This hotel is beautifully located in the centre of Port Macquarie with great access to shops,restaurants ,water etc.It is the perfect place to stay for anything that is happening at the Glasshouse theatre which is a 2 minute walk.However......we stayed there over a very busy weekend,had not remembered to book parking(now know that to be essential!) and parking in Port Mac was a nightmare that weekend!The hotel car park is small and filled quickly.There was no place in the online booking form to book parking and no warning of the congestion outside the hotel on a busy weekend.This is our favourite place to stay in Port,mainly due to its location but if we cannot prebook parking on the website in future,we will need to think twice!

Do not get rooms on the 1st floor. Overpriced for a view of a wall. Old stained furniture. Nice guy at reception. We tried to book at the other Rydges but when we arrived was in construction and had unsafe parking. I didn’t see that information Amin the booking site but the lady said it was there in very fine print.

We arrived late at night with our camper trailer in tow in need of a room and serious room for parking. They have 24 hour reception and kindly put us in front of the hotel in the loading bay under the watchful eye of security cameras, security guard and opposite a police station! The Rydges dream bed was fabulous. The best bed in 3 weeks. We had a quiet room and only saw the fantastic view over the water the next morning when we had their barista coffee and sat in the park by the Hastings river enjoying the sunshine. Would love to go again, stay a few days and explore the area. Tip: white light globes made the room look a bit cold, nothing that yellow light globes couldn’t fix.

We stayed a night in 702 which was a huge apartment with two substantial bathrooms. The view from both rooms and the living area is to die for, with a super spacious balcony to kick back, relax and eat fresh prawns.. just perfect. Reception staff were lovely and possibly the only drawback overall was the really poor shower head, so not much to complain about at all!

My wife and I stayed for one night only......delux balcony room with river view which was fabulous. Room was very clean and the bed and pillows were sensational! Next morning was breakfast (included) and this was very very good. We have stayed at two other Rydges Hotels and the breakfast(s) have always been wonderful. The building is getting a little tired and showing its age but it's clean and comfortable and that's what's important.

As you can see, I have been here before and raved about the place. This trip was not as good as we expected it would be. We stayed twice in the last fortnight using Port Macquarie as our overnight stop over between Canberra and the Sunshine Coast and return. We are Rydges snobs by choice. We like what we are used to. We got a family room on level 5 both times. HUGE huge rooms. Almost like a unit. Massive balcony over-looking the water. The carpet in the units was looking a little tired though. And having stayed at Rydges Sydney Airport...the rain shower head was sorely missed. Could do with a paint touch up in places too. However, the whole stay was let down by a few different issues; 1) The Hotel California type experience. You know the can check in anytime you like but you can never leave. They had an issue with a lift right at the time everyone was trying to leave. We waited 15 mins for the only lift that was working to come to level 5 to take us down. Wife to the G level to check out and the rest of us to B for the car. We got into a full lift as they said...if you don't get on board never will. Stopped at every other floor on the way down but no one could get on. Made it down to G and wife and others got out. I expected then to go to B, but suddenly buttons 4, 5, 6, and 7 all lit up and away we went. Back up the floors. Stopped on each floor and there was no one there. Passed the linen lady with her trolley on one of the floors. She had been waiting forever as well, but obviously needed an empty lift. Anyway..after going up and down the lift shaft multiple times we finally made it to B. I don't even know how long we were in the lift...but it was way too long. 2) One of our meals on the first stay had some blue plastic foreign material in one of the battered fish. Not sure what it was or how it even got there. 3) On trip up we went to bed before the kids did. In the morning they told us that their beds had not been made up. They slept on a mattress protector under an uncovered doona with a sheet over the top. So, no base sheet or doona cover or sheet under the doona. Not really acceptable for a booked $400+ dollar a night room!! 4) On our return trip we went to order room service to find the phone in the room was not working. So off down to reception to place our order. 5) There was something seriously wrong with the pineapple on the pizza that was delivered to us. I can't even describe what it tasted like. The fish that I had ordered was done to within an inch of its life. A nano second longer and it would have been burnt. Room service food quality on our second visit was sub par all round to be honest. My wife emailed the General Manager, Mr Justin Boydell before our return visit to have our first visit issues addressed. At the time of writing this review some 4 days after the email was sent, My Boydell is yet to extend to my wife the courtesy of a reply!! Now in fairness to the reception staff, who obviously having some semblance of customer service, they did waive our in room dining and breakfast charges from our bill on departure. This was appreciated but still does not excuse the tardiness of the General Manager in responding to a customer email. On both trips...I have to say that the breakfast was the only consistent feature. Oh...and the really REALLY tight parking. If you have a larger car, either be really good at getting into tight spaces...or park out on the street. There are plenty of accommodation choices in Port Macquarie. I'm seriously thinking we'll views alternative options next time. If for no other reason than the clearly dismissive attitude of the general manager in simply ignoring my wife's email. That's pretty rude in my book.

Our family and friends celebrated recently special occasion of a double 50th Wedding Anniversary, 25th Wedding Anniversary + Renewal of Vows in Ridges Port Macquarie. Amanda, our event coordinator has organised the event very professionally. Everything, from the initial communication, venue layout to the service on the night and food was done according to our needs and plans and everything was of an excellent quality. The night went smoothly and if there were problems, these were resolved quickly. Staff did a wonderful job and was very unobtrusive, friendly and helpful. Big Thank you to Ridges for helping us make this event a beautiful memory! Ana & Alen

After a swap with the Sails Rydges we were glad that we ended up here, as the location could not be better - very central for everything. The room was a good size, with the usual amenities. The pool on the first floor has a hot tub and is pleasantly warm. Parking is an extra cost, but is under-cover. Would stay again.

I stay here on a regular basis and find the staff really helpful and friendly.Location is great very central to main centre and only a short walk along the breakwater to the beach. Room is well sized and clean. Restaurant and bar area are well set up.
