A truly great place to stay. Almost in the main street but back enough to be peaceful and quiet. Very handy to restaurants pubs and shops. The sort of place that you can lock the car and forget it. The apartment was terrific with all you need with a kitchenette and spa. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
Checked in for a long weekend in middle of June for a getaway and to experience the tropical north together with my friend. The hotel location in middle of town and close proximity to beach was perfect. We also enjoyed the easy going and relaxed lifestyle and service minded hotel staff whose knowledge of tours and attractions was extremely helpful. The underground parking is perfect and so were the pillows :-) the only small negative was the bed because it was two singles together with an uncomfortable bump in the middle but all in all to be recommended.
It's a very quiet place with a common pool area and private hot tubs (not sure if all rooms have one). Easy access (5 minute walk) to the local shops and night life. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to the beach area (read the warnings if you plan on swimming).
Our room on the top floor had a good view of the pool below and the surrounding Highlands. The check in was easy and quick and we were helped with our bags to the apartment. The apartment was fairly spacious but if i had to pick on anything, the ensuite was a little on the small side. Great outdoor dining area with a jacuzzi on the balcony which was used daily.
We decided to upgrade from the studio to the 1 need apartment because it had more space and a stove (not that we were cooking more than toast). Generally room 32 of the Regal is pretty good and if you like a 27" flatscreen, a firm bed and steps (there's no lift and 3 floors) you'll be stoked. There's hardly any road noise, the couch is good, the apartment air-con is strong and quiet, there's 2 ceiling fans, the bathroom is modern with a spa bath and washing machine/dryer and a balcony overlooking the street has metal shutters to keep the apartment dark in the morning. You might say the pool is on the small side but we thought it's good. There's secure basement carparking and some more steps. All in all we are enjoying the Regal and right now we're off to try dinner at the Combined Club by the water at the other end of town.
Stayed 3 nights during a trip from the UK. Great location and superbly equipped accommodation. Within strolling distance of restaurants, beach and dock area. The apartment was sparklingly clean with full facilities. The spa was great and the room was cool. Very friendly reception/manager who made our stay very easy. Thoroughly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Regal. The rooms were very spacious and well equipped. We really enjoyed the hot tub on the balcony. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely come back again, was perfect for our needs!
Booked same room as we had last time, Very spacious One Bedroom Unit with Kitchen, Laundry, Jacuzzi, Large bathroom, Large bed, Air con & Ceiling fans etc. Sheryl & Bob the managers are great plus Jackie cleaner/ receptionist. The Regal has the warmest pool of the 5 apartment blocks we have stayed in at Port Douglas. The Regal is situated right by the main street thus very handy. Sad to have to leave after 10 days but will return again.
Clean, central location, helpful staff, great pool, good room facilities. The only downside, no lift. We spent one week at the Regal looking out over Port Douglas. The pool was clean and had God areas for sunbathing. The kitchenette had facilities to prepare a meal although the location gave many options to eat out. Highly recommended
When we walk in your are greeted by Sheryl’s warm, bubbly, simile. Bob checked us into our apartment and showed us how to use hot-tub. Gave us some advice where to eat and where is the Coles. The room is to one side the bed and other side was the balcony. I am guessing all the rooms are similar configurations. Only part we didn't like was the cooking as you need to open all the windows if you are cooking sausages or steak, but cooking pasta or something close lid would be fine but still need to open all the windows and put the fan high, so you don’t have to pay for the fire brigade…. Those are little thing I guess, because we had an awesome time. The pool is small when you compare to other big resorts like peppers or oaks, but if you compare to other apartment complexes(such as Coral Sea Villas, Driftwood-Mantaray Apartments) which is close to the 4 mile beach or other none big company owned resorts, Regal is much better and big enough and it has a nice water feature Our apartment was clean so nothing much to report there, the pool had was clean, and it has a spa!!! (spa closes 5pm), free ice for your cocktails, a BBQ facility and awesome Wifi Coverage, well in our room and the Pool. For tours, why walk around to the tour shops. From my understanding they are owned by the big tour companies, like Quicksilver Group (Quicksilver, Silvers Series, Poseidon, Waredancer) Tropical Journeys (Calypso), Wavelength etc. so you don't know who is giving the right advice. So why not speak to Sheryl for unbiased information. The prices are pretty much the same. She asked few questions from us like, what we really want to get out of the reef and the left the Amex card and went to the pool. She did all the booking and printed out the information we need. They really want to make sure we enjoy PD and enjoy their home. After all it is run by them so you have that warm welcome and they help you out. I do felt a bit for them as Sheryl does the all office stuff and Bob does the maintenance. So we really liked Regal Port Douglas. So don’t get annoyed why Spa get close at 5pm and stick to the pool rules and you will enjoy too.
