We visit Port Douglas every year between Xmas and New Year and stay at the Regal. We stay in one of the rooftop apartments which has a very private gardened terrace with a jacuzzi, shade sails, sun lounges, a BBQ and outdoor dining area. The apartment is great and the location is perfect. It’s right in the middle of Macrossan street so easy access to all the restaurants, pubs, supermarket and shops and is a short stroll to the marina. Sheryl and Bob are wonderful hosts and we look forward to our stay there every year.

This hotel is spotlessly clean, comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We arrived before the standard check in time and asked about leaving our baggage while we found some lunch. The woman at the front desk (whom I suspect is the owner) immediately found a room that was ready and we checked in early. The room is small (which is fine with me) and gorgeous. The bathroom has a huge spa tub that was gleaming. I'm never 100% comfortable using a hotel tub, but this one was an exception. So relaxing! There is a balcony with huge comfy loungers and a bistro table set. You really feel that you're in paradise here. The hotel couldn't be better located -- just a half block from the main street in Port Douglas, which is jammed with cafes and shops. I honestly don't know why anyone would stay in Cairns when Port Douglas and this lovely and affordable hotel are just down the road.

We stayed in mid November 2017. The hotel was friendly and welcoming with a good sized apartment and well fitted out. The pool was pleasant. It was convenient for restaurants and for boat trips to Great Barrier Reef

Stayed five nights, loved every part of it. Rooms were spacious, clean, big beds, friendly service and could not ask for any more. No lift, who cares after eating out every night i wish their were more stairs to walk off the great meals from all the near by very friendly restaurants.

I came to Port Douglas via a Qantas package and the Regal Port Douglas was one of the Qantas 'Best Values' of various resorts and hotels in and around Port Douglas. What was supposed to be a 7 night visit turned into a total of 68 nights at the regal in one of their one bedroom poolside apartments, over three different stays since September 12, 2017 when I first arrived. Bob and Sheryl are superb professionals and they make a hard, difficult job look easy. The rest of the staff, Jackie, Shaun, Jenny and Carlie, all work hard and always have a smile and a solution to any problem or concern. They Regal is kept very clean and is open and secure from unauthorized visitors after 6pm. The Regal Port Douglas is safe, well run and very comfortable. The pool is well done and the fountain is a nice backdrop to an afternoon nap. The ice machine rocks; I have stayed at two other resorts or apartments, and neither had an ice machine. Seriously. You need ice in the tropics for Pete's sake. The Regal has an ice machine to literally die for. There is a lounge with computer work station, plenty of DVDs, books, beach gear like chairs, ice chests/coolers, umbrellas, kids toys. The location of the Regal is perfect for easy beach access and literally around the corner to all shops and bars, pubs, restaurants, ice cream shops, You will love the location of the Regal. I have been here for a reason. And I could have saved some money by staying at other resorts or hotels within Port Douglas. But I paid a bit more for the great service of Sheryl, Bob, Jackie, Shaun, Jenny and Carlie. And of course the physical plant, facilities and amenities. This place rocks.

My wife and I had our Bali flight redirect to Cairns due the to eruption of mount Agung. It had been many years since we had been to Cairns/Port. After spending the night in Cairns we booked to stay in Port Douglas. We booked the Regal Port Douglas as we knew it’s general location in the Main Street. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment with a spa on the balcony. When we arrived they have undercover parking which is locked at night, we were welcomed by one of the owners who was on the reception. The bed is very comfortable and we were advised to set the AC to 23 deg C and it was perfect throughout our stay. The unit, the place itself are immaculate kept. The spa was cleaned for us before we arrived and we were given instructions on how to use it. The windows throughout the building sparkle in the sun light, I just wished our windows at home were that clean. Our unit was on the top floor so we did have to carry our bags up 3 flights of stairs, as there is no lift. The pool was great and as we stayed in the month of November which is a quite time for the area we got a good rate. Port Douglas itself is showing it age in areas and a lot of the units are. The place is in a great location and well worth staying at.

We loved the accommodation here! The location is perfect -within walking distance of wharf, beach, shops, restaurants. The room we had was spacious, the balcony lovely, kitchen units good, comfortable easy chairs, super king-size bed, spa bath with shower unit over, washing-machine and tumble dryer....and everything was spotless. We didn't have time to try out the pool, but it looked very inviting! Ok, a lift would make carrying luggage up and down much easier, but that's the way it is! Our only slightly negative comment would be that there was a damp-like smell in the room (though there was no evidence of damp!) Perhaps a problem with drains? We would certainly return - Port Douglas is stunning!

Regular visitors to The Regal and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Sheryl and her husband Bob are the perfect hosts, friendly, helpful. The accommodation is always spotless, beds are big and fabulous, pool area is loved by all and their hot tubs and a perfect unwind. 2 minutes walk and you are in the centre of Macrossan street for fabulous restaurants and bars, a 10 minute walk down to the markets on Sunday and also close to the marina for any organised trips. Free under cover parking is offered together with free WiFi. There is only one negative about the Regal and that is that there is no lift. So not recommended for anyone with restricted mobility.

Thankyou for the most peaceful trip to Port Douglas I have had in 10 years. 5 minutes to Macrossan and the best icecream shop. The studio room I had was neat as a pin, well equipped, lots of towels...the swans are incredible... the hot tub on the balcony was great. I loved the kind wave every day as I headed off on day trips and appreciated the beach seats, mini eskies etc. The pool was pristine and all areas scrupulously maintained. I have started arranging for next winter already for my mum and niece. While I had an upper room I will book a ground floor room for them. Day trip pickups at the door and the bookshop/cafe at the corner for my daily latte perfecto. X thanks again for arranging airport pickups.

First off let me point out that there is no lift at the Regal. So if you have restricted mobility this is not an ideal place to stay. That aside we recently spent 9 night at the Regal and had a wonderful experience. The Hosts are friendly, very helpful and happy to help out in anyway they can. The room was clean and well maintained (we was lucky to get an upgrade to a better room, if you can afford it opt for a hot tub room). The Regal is in a great location on the main street of Port Douglas. 10 mind from the Marina, for your trip to the reef, 5 mins from 4 mile beach and with secure underground parking if you hire a car. I would not hesitate to go back and spend more time at the Regal and to Port Douglas.
