I booked the Freestyle Resort because of the reviews mentioning the great service from Anne. They were spot on. The apartments are perfect for a family of four, plenty of space, tasteful if basic decor, adequately stocked kitchens, nice pool/jacuzzi area. But Anne makes the place so friendly! She booked our reef and rainforest outings, provided recommendations and knew all the kids’ names. It’s close enough to walk downtown (although having a car in this area is nice, and we did drive down to dinner after a couple of long days when everyone is tired). Freestyle is a pretty perfect balance of price and location for Port Douglas. Two thumbs up.

Stayed in 1 bedroom apartment. Pro’s: - Room was very spacious and clean. - Nice balcony area overlooking the swimming pool. - Kitchen had everything you needed to make most meals (microwave oven, 2 hobs) - Bedroom and bed was a great size - Swimming pool was nice and big and always had loungers to spare Con’s: - none

I stayed at this place with my daughter. I can't praise it enough. Our room was clean and spacious with a good use of space. The bathroom was large and a very lovely shower! The pool was perfect. Ann, the owner was friendly and helpful and had excellent local knowledge. Our outside area was compact but functional. I would highly recommend and will definitely return.

We enjoy going to Port Douglas in February and March because it's quiet and peaceful and so are all the resorts. It's also very warm and humid and you need to have a good pool to cool off in, so we spent a lot of time either in or lying next to the Freestyle pool doing just that. The apartments themselves are spacious and comfortable with plenty of fans and a very effective air conditioner which you require at this time of the year. On arrival we get the run down from Anne and Jason about any new restaurants or cafes that are worth trying and any that are closed for the wet season. If you want to know where to go or what to do while in Port Douglas just ask Anne. She is extremely helpful and goes out of her way to ensure you have the best holiday possible. Another plus is you can walk down to the beach for a morning walk and also into town for dinner there is no need for a car. I would recommend Freestyle to anyone going to Port Douglas for a holiday.

We had a bad experience at Rydges Plaza in cairns and decided to look around. We found Freestyle! This place is THE hidden gem of Port Douglas... Anne made a booking for us immediately in a spacious and stylish room; she saved our holiday. We ended up paying $100 less staying at Freestyle than we would have at the Rydges Plaza in Cairns. $$$ Value for money, politeness, warmth. The place felt like home for the 3 days we stayed there. We were able to cook our own meals, swim in their beautiful pool and spa and wander around freely. Highly recommended for those that have a tight budget and want high quality. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Freestyle!

We stayed 3 nights and received a great welcome by Anne on arrival. She explained not just everything about the flat, safe, pool etc but also gave recommendations of good restaurants, where to go for a nice walk and also helped book us a great snorkeling trip. The flat was a good size with a very comfortable bed and good shower. The kitchen area is small but functional. The living room is a good size and so is the terrace. The a/c worked well and there are also ceiling fans. This is a great little gem and only about 7 minutes walk from center of town.

We stayed in the Freestyle for 4 nights the third stop of our mini tour. The room was spacious, airy & clean & close enough to stroll into town. The facilities are laid back, user friendly & Anne was helpful, informative & attentive. The pool was beautiful & as it was a quiet period it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Port Douglas was lovely, snorkelling was excellent & Mossman gorge really fun but take mosquito repellant. Cooya beach was beautiful & we would have loved to swim but as we left a croc floated by on the creek so beware!!! The bars & restaurants cater for every taste & the place buzzes at night but is quiet enough by day to make you feel you are in an exclusive resort. We will return but for longer.

We stayed at the Freestyle Resort for a few days early last month. The rooms are very well looked after and are clean and comfortable. There is a pool, which was closed for maintenance but access to the pool next door was arranged. The Resort is about 5 minutes walk to Port Douglas and is set next to a reasonable amount of ground before the main road, which is not busy or noisy. The biggest bonus with this Resort is the host - Ann. Ann cannot do enough for you and sorts out any concerns about the site, the room, any trips you may or have booked and is just always there to help. I recommend a visit.l For some reason, the form won't let me "score" the service, room or location.. I would give 5 4 and 4.

We had four nights here in a lovely apartment with lots of space and a nice balcony with great views of lorikeets roosting and fruit bats flying at dusk. Anne was the perfect host and was unfailingly helpful and full of good suggestions. Unlike some resorts, which are some way out, we were well placed for the town with the main street an easy 10 minute stroll away. The pool is nice and we had a lovely welcome pack of wine, coffee and fresh fruit. If we ever return to Port Douglas this is where we'll be staying!

We had 3 days here and Ann was extremely helpful, providing us with a welcome pack which was most appreciated as we were without a car. The apartment was clean well equipped with much needed efficient air-conditioning and fan. The pool was fabulous essential with the heat and high humidity. For unaware travellers without transport like us a few points of note. Shops are withing walking distance (if you are able to walk) but if you arrive late only option are taxis and restaurants. If you are a Brit and like a bath rather than shower, book a 2 room apartment. Note there are no lifts so if you have walking or have climbing stair impairments ,book a ground floor apartment. It was an effort carrying two heavy cases with 5 weeks of clothes up 3 flights of stairs !
