We liked the historic small hotel and hope that they are able to make a go of it. The rooms are clean and fairly comfortable. The mineral bath rooms are pretty bad and not good for older people. We actually thought they were dangerous to get in and out of the tubs. The mineral bath rooms need a lot of attention and are in bad condition. Because of recommendations we made a reservation for dinner at the Portneuf. It was I. The basement. We and another couple were the only people in this very dinghy dark room. It's really a shame they don't make use of outdoor dining since they are right on the river and should at least have big windows. The menu is very upscale in price but the food was average or less. We were very disappointed. The bartender in the lounge area was the waitress in the dining. She was very nice. The cocktails are reasonable. I would suggest skipping the mineral baths and dinner but the rooms are fine. I think they may be separate entities since we were unable to put the drinks or dinner on our room.

This is a charming building and does have nice indoor hot tubs. Basically because this is an older building it does not have the sound proofing that newer buildings have. Also the transit above the door let in too much light. This was annoying when other guests came in at midnight or so. Be sure to have earplugs. The breakfast was great. The restaurant chef made little turkey and vegetable pasties that were very well seasoned and tasted great. If the possibility of night noise does not bother you I would highly recommend Riverside Inn. It is like a step back into the past.

We booked the last two rooms in this hotel Eclipse week. Unfortunately the two last rooms shared a bathroom across the hall (something they are trying to eliminate). The hotel is very old but has a lot of character. The pools in the basement are pretty sweet. Two mineral pools that hold a couple of people and a third indoor pool that holds up to 6 people. There is a hot tub mineral pool outside also. The rooms were clean but did need some attention to detail in dusting low areas. The rest of the Inn is lacking in cleanliness. Bannisters are sticky to the touch and dusty at the bottoms. You have to go to three different areas of the lobby to get your breakfast and as we were sitting there, we noticed the floors and shelving in the sitting area were very dusty (an easy fix with a swifter!). More attention to the little stuff and this hotel could be a GREAT hotel.

This is an extremely charming old-world hotel (genuine 1910s building with a lot of period features, which is a rarity in US!) rooms are large and comfortable, tastefully done up, sympathetically to the period. In-door private hot spring pools are a real bonus, as the guests can use them up until 23:00, which is very relaxing. Continental breakfast is good, lack of hot option is not too noticeable. A special thanks is to the staff running the hotel - they are excellent team, very knowledgable, accommodating and professional. We had great stay even despite the Solar Eclipse rush. I would certainly recommend this place a a lovely relaxing stay.

This is a hotel with lots of character. The hotel is over 100 years old, and each room is unique and interestingly decorated. It kind of feels like you're going back in time, but the rooms are updated enough to be really comfortable. The breakfast is well done. The mineral hot springs in the hotel were great, so there's no need to visit the other hot spring place down the street. There are two tube rental places just steps away if you want to float down the river. I would definitely stay here again.

Ive been to many hotels across the U.S. and this is my favorite. Great customer service, Liz the manager was great. Mineral pools were awesome. Location couldnt be better. Renovations without losing the old hotel feel. The restaurant is worth trying. Great mix of food cooked by trained chef's. Couldn't have asked for a better place. If you are looking for a place in Lava Hot Springs, look no more. I have found it for you. My only complaint: I had to leave.

This is a very old beautiful hotel. Yes, it is a bit shabby right now, but they are renovating. Great bar downstairs with really good drink. Pomegranate martini was super. Breakfast was superb. The fresh peach pastries were to die for. We booked the outdoor hot tub that is fed from the hot springs. Amazing. Stayed here before and will stay here again! Staff was also super nice.

This is the oldest hotel in Lava Hot Springs and the current owners have done a nice job with renovations. Don't expect a 42" TV and wall thermostats but each room has air conditioning (it can get hot in this town), many have their own baths and everything is clean. The beds were good, service was very personable, breakfast was hot and tasty and Lorenzo was working in the bar making great drinks. They have one outdoor hot tub, a modern tub with fresh hot water flowing through, and a couple of indoor rooms with hot tubs downstairs. I don't really like the confines of indoor tubs but once again the owners are doing a nice job of renovating the indoor tubs and making them quite inviting. They welcome small pets for a $15 fee so we'll be back to stay again.

Charming old hotel on the Portneuf River with Hot Springs, dinner and bar on site. Back porch overlooks people innertubing down the river. Attentive and helpful staff took care of all our requests. Small town in a quaint setting.

My husband and I found this gem by total accident!!! Everything was booked in Idaho falls and riverside hot springs popped up on Expedia. The lady on the phone (Kathy) was so awesome she found us a king room for less then what we expected. They allow you to have your dog for a small fee but very dog friendly!! They have a wonderful restaurant on sight food was fabulous and the bar area is very quanit. Newbes and returning guest. It is like going back in time. Some very famous people have stayed here throughout the years. There is a beautiful river that you can inertube on. I wish we would of had more time to explore this truly beautiful and comforting place!! There are so many other things to do like fishing, hiking, an Olympic swimming pool in town, mineral pools and zip lining!! Truly a must see for all..
