Plenty of food options that are reasonably priced. 3 pool areas though we liked the quieter one at the back of the property. The snorkeling was good by Thailand standards, though the hotel gives guests shoes to just walk over corals. So you have to swim out 50m to see interesting stuff that's not been trampled or bashed by boats. Negative is that the don't stop outsiders from entering the pools and using the sun loungers. I saw multiple back packers arrive on scooters access the hotel from the beach and grab a towel and use up the hotel sun loungers. There is a security guard but he seems to be just for show. The hotel really needs wristbands to stop this. Not to sound snobbish but when you are paying £400-600 a night you don't expect non guests to be using the facilities.

Overall, a very pleasant experience. The room, food, and staff were all excellent, and the service throughout the stay was consistently warm and professional. The only issue to note is that the beach directly in front of the hotel is a small coral beach, which makes it difficult to enjoy in the way one might expect from a beach resort. This was not entirely clear at the time of booking, so our expectations had to be adjusted after arrival. Aside from this, all other aspects of the stay were great. The staff, in particular, were exceptionally courteous and accommodating, and they made our stay very enjoyable.

I really wanted to give the hotel 3 stars but they have a great staff, particularly the staff at the Chang Thai restaurant. I really enjoyed the cooking class. The resort is clean and the grounds are nice. The beach has a high and low tide situation so it’s not really a typical beachfront hotel. I did not enjoy how far the resort was from Patong Beach and reliance on shuttle service. I did not like that the TV in the hotel room had no streaming feature. This should be standard for a 5 star resort. Overall, my stay was good but I would choose a similar resort in a walkable location.

Everything was clean and modern. The staff and service were absolutely brilliant! And it was all the little included extras that really made it a true five star experience... shuttle bus, beach bags, reusable water bottles, snorkelling, kayaking, arcade games, equipment, ice-cream, fairy floss, cold towels, movie nights. We traveled as a family of four with our 11- and 8-year-olds and stayed at the resort for four days. The kids had a fantastic time, snorkeling and kayaking at the beach, foam party in the family pool. The hotel organizes plenty of activities and there’s a wide variety of food to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The resort is located on a hill, so we used Grab to get to Patong Beach. Overall, we definitely recommend this resort for families!

A perfectly nice hotel, but not really a 5 star service. For example, there was nothing set up for my daughter (4) despite it being on the booking through Expedia. No turndown service. No one handing out towels at the pool or beach, or tidying them up after use. Nothing terrible, but just not quite a 5 star service!

We had a fantastic stay at Marriott Merlin Beach. Staff were nice and attentive. Quick response to our requests. Good activities planned throughout the day for kids and adults plus live music/shows. Room was nice and clean with comfortable beddings. Food quality and variety was very good.
