To sum it up: - Rooms stink, they were renovating & stench of paint and stuff - not great options for food - small room sizes - overcrowded - not near patong as suggested!! - I wouldn’t call it Marriot hospitality

We have just got back from Phuket, we stayed at the resort for 6 nights and it couldn´t have been better. The room was the perfect size and we had a balcony overlooking the quieter pool. The hotel is perfectly zoned with the family and kids area further away from the couples area. The pool bar is great for that afternoon cocktail, specially during Happy Hour. The breakfast has something for everyone. The staff is very attentive, friendly and very helpful. Daniel the local Loyalty Executive was very prompt in assisting us with all we needed, thanks Daniel. We have just got back home and we def can´t wait to book our next holiday there again.

Cause of I needs looking for hotels which there is privacy in a limited time because my flight arrived one day ahead of schedule, So I need to choose the hotel brand that I am confident and least risk in my thoughts because I came with someone who is high expectation she is the purist under always her smiles. One of reason I chose there because I was familiar with many Marriott Hotels locations in Bangkok before, what I like most is zoning and hotel's design, the buffet line on the green cortyard sometime I think it is like the paradise garden with the private beach and invisibly ocean view. But !! however there are what I don't impressive is... I am not sure reason of the beach bar staffs too less make they can not service and take care thoroughly for many customer, I seen just a bartender in The Rum Shack Bar, Why is that !! I am really​ can not understood ! though the bar man he is look nice personality​ but our cocktails for two glasses it's very​ late ! however I think that's not the fault of the bartender but it's because about Manpower manage. I obsdrved were no manager level for take care customers on the beach zone (afternoon Fri. July, 12) I think Managers maybe only duty especially​ the fine dinning​ or busy in the air -​conditioner room, what's unfortunately after we drank we feel very tried​ from traveled when we back to the room is very comfortable and very nice oceanview from the balcony at our room. at the morning after the day I had met a staff maybe management came to talked and asking about us staying.. Let me a joking in the last.... After talked with the staff then make me feel again The Managers maybe duty only in -​ door 😉😁 Thank you so much everything it's my impressive, I do hope to go back in the future.

A great resort in a good location if your looking for a family holiday out of the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach. There are pros and cons to this resort: Pros: 1. Excellent swimming pools 2. Great restaurants and food great 3. Friendly staff 4. Good room service 5. Adequate gym to workout in 6. Very family/ kid friendly with activities and areas to play. 7. Beach area but not good for swimming as it's rocky, but can snorkel. 8. Courtesy bus to Patong Beach 9. Great spa / massage centre Cons: 1. Very busy and noisy in pools with lots of kids. 2. Hotel food / resturants exspensive (comparison to Australian prices) 3. Breakfast areas were very busy in the morning (better to go early) 4. Rooms are old and outdated (we had pool access room and needs renovations- hotel is currently renovating wings and some areas were closed off. 5. We could hear people above us as we had bottom floor room and they were stomping around and up really late. Could also hear people walking in corridors late at night which woke us up.

We recently stayed 8 nights at this resort with the all-inclusive package. We arrived at 2am and were warmly greeted with a cold drink and the loveliest lady who checked us in. I will start with the food because it was absolutely amazing and is what made this holiday so memorable. The breakfast buffet was the best I have seen anywhere in the world. Every morning there were freshly made fruit smoothies - mixed berry, strawberry, pineapple, guava, blueberry and banana were all on offer during the week we were there. You could also order hot chocolate, expresso or any other coffee you wanted. There was a beautiful selection of exotic and tropical fruits, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, yoghurts, breads and pastries, sorbets and ice creams, eggs cooked fresh on the spot every way you can think of, bacon, a wide range of Asian dishes and much, much more. Our favourite restaurant for dinner was the Thai Pantry. They had a lobster dish which consisted of a platter of eight half lobsters which tasted divine. My husband ordered this three nights he loved it so much. But everything at this restaurant was packed full of flavour with every mouthful was an explosion of flavour. The ladies serving were absolutely wonderful and had my daughter in tears in our final night because she was sad to leave after receiving lots of hugs and a gift from the ladies. The Italian restaurant was also excellent. The confit duck leg was nice and crispy and the lamb shank was also delicious. When we were there a visiting Italian pizza chef performed as he was a two-time world pizza acrobatics champion. The pizza dough tasted so good. All the meals we had were very good. The seafood buffet, which was included in our package, was amazing! Fresh, chilled and barbecued crab, prawns, mussels, oysters and more plus smoked salmon, tuna and seabass plus Indian dishes and lots more. Desserts included chocolate mousse, pannacotta, lemon meringue pie and much much more. Everything was exceptional quality. We had a room overlooking the pool with the waterfall. The room was modern and clean and had everything we could hope for. It was a little squished with the fold-out bed for our daughter as it was a room designed for two. But with a little rearranging we solved this. The room was cleaned every day and re-stocked with bottled water. On a couple of days the cleaning team left a towel animal, fresh orchid and a note wishing us a nice day. The resort has three amazing pools with a pool bar in one and a waterslide at another. The beach was nice but unfortunately on a couple of days there was a lot of rubbish in the water and on the sand. This is not from the resort or its guests. We saw the resort’s cleaning company ladies out on the beach collecting rubbish to clean it up. There is a lot of coral in the water so it’s advisable to wear reef shoes. The staff at the resort were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best possible. The resort is only a 10 - 15 minute drive from Patong. We booked the resort’s shuttle in advance and this worked perfectly. We had the most amazing time at this resort. We were surprised every day at much was included in our all-inclusive package, the high quality of the food and drinks, the lovely staff and the wide range of activities and things to do. We really didn’t want to leave and hope to return one day.

My family and I recently spent 8 days at the wonderful Marriott Resort and Spa, Merlin Beach. We stayed in room 3212, which was one of the newly renovated rooms - excellent location - close to main pool, reception and other facilities. The property is very spacious, and with 4 restaurants to choose from, you need not venture out if you simply want to relax. The pool bar was great, and sundowners at the Rum Shack was a great way to finish off the day before trying out one of the dining options. As for dinner - the Italian was absolutely superb. We tried the carbonara pasta, the margherita pizza, and the lamb shank - all were delicious. We finished off the days with a night cap in the lounge - the resident duo played some really good tunes. By the way, nice to be at a resort where ALL drinks are 2-1 during Happy Hour (not to mention happy hour from 5-7pm at 2 locations, and then form 7-9 at 2 different locations, so you can in fact enjoy 4 happy hours!) In addition, past experience was that wine was excluded - so this was a bonus, as wine is always quite pricey in Thailand. Very important to mention the amazing staff. The service was top drawer, and nothing was too much trouble. Whether it was the ladies on the front desk, concierge, the Spa or restaurants, the service was really excellent - thank you Marriott staff for a wonderful 8 days - we will be back.

I stayed in the Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach for 10 days and it was one of my favorite resorts around phuket, i defiantly tried all the activity's in the resort, its perfect for familys and even solo staying.

The extra star is for the location and the beach! And the other for a superstar team member Natty! The nicely spread property seems to be just selling the pool with most rooms having to offer only the proximity to the pool as a selling point. However, it depends, the smell of the general swimming pool and noise can become very irritating and is hugely subjective. I won't make any comment on that as we chose the beach view rooms. Not your cottages or rooms close to the beach but facing the beach. With it being 3 storeys, you can see the horizon and enjoy the sea winds. The sound of the waves reach the beach rooms and with a sit-out! Peace!! Overall the staff isn't too interested, and the food is pretty average even though restaurants are branding the chefs. A terrible place for vegetarians. They just don't get it :-) We found the staff lost or just slow. But Natty at the front desk was brilliant. She was happy, polite and just went the extra mile! Please look for Natty when at the property! Still would strongly recommend this place in Phuket as it offers the key reason you would go to a site like this - Nature, sea-winds, the sound of the waves! Good location for friends, couples and even families. Great infrastructure and programs for kids and a separate pool with the water splash. It's more or less a private beach barring a small opening on both sides. With on one end, open-air Thai massage can be availed and on the other a third party cafe.

Needs Improvement: - Chaotic Breakfast. Staff gets orders wrong or forgets about it. - Local staff has a low command of the english language. Often seeks others to help them reply to us. - Some staff did not know where or if activities were taking place. - Booked a paid activity and when I arrived to do it I was told my booking did not get registered - They forgot to wake us up even though we made a request on the previous day. - We requested twice for our room to cleaned. One of those times the cleaners showed up a 6:30pm. - Fussball table needs to be repaired - Private car transfers were overpriced Positives: - Check in and Check out was fast and efficient. - Room service cleaning staff was very pleasant and joyful. Overall the staff was pleasant but as mentioned before looked lost at times. - Breakfast was diverse and lasted for a long time. Come early (6:30-7:00am) if not it will be chaotic. - The pools were really nice. The private beach is awesome in spite of the rocky floor. - Pool bar and its staff provided a great experience. - Private car transfers were safe and efficient. The drivers were pleasant. - Wifi worked well everywhere. - The room was spacious and had a nice view. Overall the experience was nice, however, I was expecting a bit more from this type of resort. They need to have more attention to detail and improve their staff's training.

We travelled in July with a family of 4 - 2 children age 7 and 8 and stayed at Merlin Beach resort by Marriott. In summary, my assessment of this hotel is just like all the other reviews - brilliant. Hotel: this hotel is large, not large needing a buggy, but can easily walk . It has its own beach, very private and its own coral reef. Unfortunately the best time for coral snorkelling is Nov to April. Now, the waves were choppy and nobody was snorkelling. The location is away from Patong beach, so its quiet. Pool: there are 3 pools, and these are large. One area is a kids pool with a slide, with lots of shallow areas. The central pool has the pool bar with happy hour from 5-7pm. Wonderful weather for swimming. Restaurants: Breakfast was provided in our package and the buffet didnt disappoint. we were there for 7 nights and were very happy with the selections and quality of breakfast buffett. Although the hotel seemed packed, we could always get a table and service was fast. Egg station manned by 3 chefs, so rarely had to 'line' up. Great selection. We ate by the pool and food was fine. For dinner we ate at italian restaurant 2 nights and thai one night. The italian food was amazing and commendation to the new italian chef-de-cusine who just joined. We tried buffett dinner one night - Roast night - very nice. The quality was excellent and price was very reasonable considering for a hotel charge. Room: Im not sure we had a renovated room, but I believe it to be. Adjoining rooms. Kept very clear. Lots of bottled water provided. Make-up rooms times can be inconsistent, but when you wanted it done, housekeeping would oblige within the hour. Shower pressure fantastic. Air-con strong. Staff: very friendly and professional, always courteous and wonderful to kids. Day-spa - didnt get to try, but did try the external massage group on side of hill near beach. standard prices and very nice. Kids-Club: small in size, lots of daily activities for kids which my two children did enjoy. Also they enjoyed the console machine there. Transport: into town, complimentary shuttle bus, except for into town in afternoon at 100baht per person or 200b per family. hotel taxi is 300baht per car to town. Town is only 10 minutes away Overall wonderful hotel. Reasonable price and excellent quality and will come again!
