Recently returned from a fantastic stay can not fault this hotel, perfect location, wonderful staff and beautiful rooms! Perfect location only 5 minute walk from the hussle and bussle but also not right in the centre of it all, Highly recommend!
Great location close to loads of shopping and food places. Beach right across the street. We had a pool biew room with an extra bed for our son and still plenty of room. Lovely balconey and very friendly staff. Buffet breakfast was great if you leave hungry you are too fussy
Arrived at midday for a week long holiday. We were made to wait for nearly 2hrs as our room wasn't ready. Wasn't a good start. The entire resort is amazing, fantastic pools, great location, great cocktails and meals! Unfortunately bar staff (especially at swim up bar) were miserable. Main reason I booked here was for the swim up bar, had 2 drinks there on first day and never went back! If you rely on wifi to stay in touch with family etc, don't expect too much. It almost never works and when it does it's extremely slow. In the end, yes I would stay here again, but a happier and more inviting staff would be a huge improvement!
The room was great for me and my wife. Awesome swimming pools and good food at breakfast and at the dinner venue. Both me and my wife got sick but I can’t blame the hotel for that, possibly just Patong. Not the cleanest of places
My wife and I have travelled around Thailand over the years, although this was our first visit to Patong, We chose the Merlin as the location and reviews looked good, we were not disappointed, we arrived late at night and reception were organised for our arrival, we did have to pay a deposit which Virgin Holidays had not mentioned to us, however we had done our homework beforehand and previous reviews had warned us about this, we gave £150 GBP this meant at the end of the holiday we were not getting a handful of Baht's back that we would not spend. taken to our room we were in block 2 which is at the far end, its not disastrous as it is the closest to the beach road from the rear exit. and only a minute from reception if you go via the pool paths, the room had been previously renovated (Block 1 currently being renovation but no disruption to your holiday) the room was a standard size not huge but room to move, one complaint it falls into the hotel trap of not enough drawer space, the bed (Double)is sturdy and comfortable and a 32" ?? tv on the wall, the bathroom is large with a walk in powerful shower, towels changed daily. the hall wardrobe has a free safe, 2 umbrella's, slippers, dressing gowns and a hair drier, we stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, breakfast is served in the main dining room / foyer area, plenty of food to suit all nationalities, as a Scot Bacon & egg were our choice, the bacon was streaky and crispy but that is very normal anywhere abroad. for lunch we sat in once and at the pool bar a few times, you can put the charge to your room or as we did pay at the time, We like to sample Thai food so at night we went out to the numerous restaurants all around. the location of the hotel was perfect, walking time,= 12 min to Bangla Road, 10min to Jungceylon, 5 mins to Australian area bars and 2 min to the beach. Finally check out, 5am, was straight forward, After our room was checked we received our £150 GBP back that they had put into an envelope, we were given 2 breakfast bags which was ok for the early hours, I hope you enjoy your holiday we certainly did
Myself and my partner came for a 2 week holiday. Staff: Alot (not all) of the staff just looked like they didnt want to be there. Alot of sad faces. We had issues with the water in our room just randomly stopping. 3 times over 4 days we told staff at reception and they made us out to be liers because when someone woud come to look it would work. Then they found out that the block we were in has water issues. You would think the staff would be informed of such issues so they could correctly inform guests. On a positive they did upgrade us after they found out. When i stay in a place like this in a country like thailand or bali the staff usually know you by name, are overly nice and try to do anything to make ur stay as pleasurable as possible. Unfortunately it just didnt feel like that here. We were even constantly questioned (felt like an integration) about what room we were in and our names when signing bills. I think the resort is just to big to get this personal relationship with staff. Sick: Everyone we spoke to said they were verrry sick there whole stay. We were sick almost the whole time and didnt feel to good. Not sure what it was but 1 day after we left and came to koh samui we wernt sick at all and felt great. Location: Perfect location Food: Breakfast was great!!! Room service was also good. Driver: We had a nice man named Mr Bow take us around for about 5hrs and take us to alot of different things for only 600B. Was only going to tiger kingdom and he ended up taking us for another 4 hrs and didnt even ask for any more money. He was awesome, definitely recommend to go with him. He was the only person who knew our names and was a guaranteed friendly face when we seen him. I wouldnt stay there again. There is alot better you can get for your money.
Stayed here for 4 nights. Rooms are more than comfortable and spacious. Extremely friendly staff. Facilities are wonderful- 4 pools to choose from! The location is perfect- easy access to the beach, shops/markets and bangla road. We didn't need to catch a taxi once! Would definitely come back here.
We stayed here for 9 nights in May/June of this year. We were pleasantly surprised with what the hotel had to offer. We were in a triple room with a balcony. This hotel is very close to the great night life Patong has to offer but the hotel is very quiet so you have the best of both. Right opposite is a strip of little huts where you can buy drinks/ food which are open late, market stalls, and is around 10 min from Bangla Road. Also right across the road from the beach. Breakfast catered to everyone’s requirement (my friend is a vegetarian and was impressed with the variety) Pools are clean, plenty of sun beds, pools and pool towels everyday. Staff very friendly and could not do enough for you.
stayed with my wife for 12 days in September our room was very comfortable over looking the 4 pools nice to have a balcony overlooking this the breakfasts are very good lots of choice the staff very friendly they do start rushing you at about 10.15 the hotel is very well positioned across the road from the beach and very near the main buzz we can highly recommend this hotel
Please be aware of this 7/11 after many years coming to Patong this store has gained a reputation of short changing their customers, this happened to me yesterday on return to the hotel I realised that I'd been short changed 500 baht ($20) I returned to the store minutes later and demanded my 500 baht this was handed over to me. without argument, I think the assistant new by my face not to argue.The moral to this is check your change.
