This is our second time to the Hermosa and we will definitely return. The Hermosa is a boutique hotel with a rich history. Once on the grounds, you forget you are only a short drive to plenty of shopping and restaurants. The staff is always wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. Jessica, at the pool, was a rock star! The grounds are beautiful and very nicely maintained. Rooms are really nice. Good size, well appointed, comfortable beds and pillows. Each has a nice outside sitting area. The on-site restaurant, Lon's, is excellent. We were with a group of friends and had scheduled a wine paired dinner in the wine cellar. What a great experience. The food, wine and especially the service from Vincent and Pedro were all first rate. Hot in the Phoenix area this time of year, but great deals and no crowds Seemed like our group had the pool to ourselves throughout our stay Great hotel for a weekend escape.
Food was amazing, grounds and rooms were divine and service next to none! Price was very affordable as well so we just ate more food ( : D ) . We would go again for another stay for sure. Make sure to take one of the bikes and ride 2.5 miles to Echo Canyon trailhead to hike Camelback Mountain. A super must do and challenging event! Only drawback was the hard bed. I'm sure half the people say it is too hard and the other half say too soft so take this comment with a grain of salt. I need super/super/super soft mattresses because of a bad back.
My husband and I just returned back to Canada after celebrating our anniversary with the Hermosa Inn. I always feel that it is important to take the time to review a hotel such as this, who took the time to make our stay so wonderful. The hotel is so charming with much attention to detail for customer service (front desk, valet service and chamber service), decor throughout the hotel and the meticulous landscaping throughout. Upon check in we were given a cool towel and water bottles (much appreciated throughout our stay as it was hot!). We were escorted to our deluxe casita 150. I was informed that this was a recently renovated deluxe casita. The room was impeccably clean. Loved the beehive fireplace and the decor throughout the room, the leather chairs and the comfortable king sized bed with white comfortable linens. The bathroom was tastefully done with a beautiful claw foot tub. I am extremely picky with my room choices when I travel and this room was spot-on; spacious, clean and lovely. Read the book left behind in the room describing the history of Lon Megargee/ the history of the Hermosa Inn(entertaining). Turn down service is a nice touch, the fresh baked cookies were great in the evening. My husband and I went to happy hour at Lon's Last Drop and highly recommend the happy hour which runs from 4 pm to 6 pm. Our server (I believe her name was Christine) was extremely friendly and helpful. I tried the house white wine for $6 and my husband tried from an extensive list of crafted beers which I believed were for $5 dollars. Try the bar munchies which are phenomenal. We tried the hummus/pita, goat cheese curds which were infused with rosemary and oil, and the tacos which were obviously made fresh/scratch. The food was hot, well priced and simply delicious, one of the best priced and tasting bar food snacks I have ever had. The pool is great, with many chaises with cushions. There is an unlimited supply of towels and bottled water was in the mini fridge. As we are a younger couple if you want a more happening pool scene, this perhaps isn't the pool for you. The pool is on the smaller size but I came to relax and liked the scene more quiet, to me it was perfect. Menus are by the pool area if you wish to order lunch/drinks. My hubby and I tried Lon's Restaurant in the evening. The reception upon check in, into the restaurant was very warm and friendly and we were asked how we were enjoying our stay at the hotel which was much appreciated. We were escorted to our dinner table and served by Vincent. Vincent was a very receptive and attentive server (professional). Best food I tried during my entire time in Arizona. The dining room so well appointed with the decor (leather, cowhide, wooden beamed ceiling), we appreciated the nostalgia of the dining room. The wine list was extensive and since it was my first time to Arizona, I wanted a wine from the area. We tried a red wine from the Camp Verde area and loved it. I had the chicken, my hubby had the short ribs and it was amazing. A little bit on the pricey side...but well worth the money spent. We also ate breakfast twice at the restaurant, and tried the short rib hash and huevos egg dish, both excellent dishes. We used the bicycles that were provided by the hotel and enjoyed biking to see Camelback Mountain and the Paradise Valley area to check out the residences. Check out was easy. Simply put....I didn't want to leave...I think this is a good thing, no? Thanks Hermosa Inn for the great stay and will recommend your Inn to all our friends!
We took advantage of the great summer rates to stay at the Hermosa for a birthday getaway. We were lucky to be able to check into our room early and enjoy time by the pool during the heat of the day. Our casita-style room was lovely and spacious - wood floors, beamed ceiling, fireplace, beautiful four-posted bed, two comfy leather club chairs, huge bathroom and shower. The pool is smaller, but very pleasant. From start to finish the service was outstanding. Chilled towels, mango popsicles and frozen grapes at the pool, freshly baked cookies in our room before bed and other little surprises made us feel taken care of. The grounds are beautiful, Lon's is fantastic, and everyone we encountered was so welcoming. The charm and uniqueness of the Hermosa are not to be missed!
Formerly the actual cattle ranch for Lon Megargee "Google" him. His art dots the restaurant and restaurant. Authentic western atmosphere. Think, leather, wood, Mexican tile, fireplaces and hand-wrought iron fountains in a graceful, beautifully planted, setting of casitas surrounding a central building with "Lons" fine dining restaurant and a real western bar. In cooler months the smell of cedar or mesquite wood burning in the outdoor fireplaces is unforgettable. The staff is friendly and well trained. The rooms!!! Linens to die for, spacious rooms with fireplaces and remote control covering on skylight above bed if you wish to sleep in and you will.
Lush gardening sets the scene at this lovely and welcoming Inn. A welcome cactus drink and cool towel was offered to wipe off the desert dust. Rooms are well appointed, good sized and every comfort is provided for. The staff is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The location makes it a very easy drive to Taliesin West, the airport and shopping, etc. A noon check out is appreciated with many hotels these days demanding earlier and earlier departures. I only wish I could have stayed longer. Had a tasty breakfast at Lon's. Don't hesitate to stay here.
We have been traveling for almost 4 weeks through the states last month, stayed in many hotels, boutique hotels, vacation resorts but the Hermosa Inn was by far the best. Small place, charming, attentive staff, quiet, excellent restaurant, inviting bar, all nice & clean. Already planning to return someday (to celebrate my retirement ?).
I stayed in June 2017 for a few nights. I highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a quiet, charming, well appointed, comfortable, delicious stay. I felt so taken care of, the staff was wonderful. The room was very spacious, and i loved the leather chairs and very comfy bed. I wish I had time to use that claw foot tub. I would absolutely recommend Hermosa to singles, couples, families, business travelers, anyone looking for a more boutique experience.
Stayed one night to host a dinner in the wine cellar at Lon's. Check in was seamless and room was ready at 4 pm. Bellman seemed a bit scattered at arrival. I'd venture to guess he was new. Booked a King Deluxe Casita and was a room in the renovated section near the back. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. You could see the old and new but I was surprised to see some of the wear that was already apparent in scuffed walls, scratched furniture, etc.. Huge bathroom but lots of wasted space. Sink drained very slowly and shower water pressure was below par. Comfortable bed and nicely appointed seating area facing the fireplace for the winter month visits. Very tall ceilings with high windows and a large skylight. While they look nice and allow some natural light, they are terrible for sleeping in. The room was beyond bright at sunrise and there is no way to escape it. There needs to be a solution to block that light if wanted. Also noticed at least a handful of mosquito in our room the night of check in and again in the morning. This is a somewhat remote area but it seems to me that the door to the room is being left open during service or they are not spraying when guests check out. We thought the netting around the bed was decorative but it would seem it may have a real purpose. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. We did not use the pool area but although it was small, it looked inviting. Lon's for happy hour was enjoyable but some of the "local"s didn't seem to appreciate "new money" in their space and made it known a few different times. Quaint property that is out of the way and good to relax an detach from the madness. I had higher expectations overall based on other reviews and the reputation of the property. Would consider going back for a purpose but would not go out of my way to stay again.
My husband planned a celebration weekend for my birthday and retirement. We had stayed at the Hermosa Inn last year for another special weekend and found the accommodations and staff to be outstanding. We were not disappointed with this stay. The deluxe casita was a spacious and very comfortable room, the pool was quiet and refreshing, the meal at Lon's intimate and delicious. Could not have asked for a better experience!
