I come to Petoskey on business four or five times a year and I have stayed in pretty much all of the hotels. I choose @ Michigan Inn because it has great views (if you get an upstairs room), the price is unbeatable, their little dining area is free and open 24 hours and one could easily eat all their meals there and their salon offers free haircuts to guests of the hotel. And yes, a quick 8 am trim before a 9 am business meeting is something I would not turn down~

I feel like the owners of this property try very hard to offer as much as they can at the lowest possible price. They throw in a lot, and although all the extras are not first class (like a $129 Waldorf Astoria breakfast), I give the owners and credit for doing all they can. Our king size bed had a massage function and the head and foot of the bed adjusted up and down. Free food is available almost all day long in the cafe. Free cookies and popcorn in the lobby. Even a free haircut along with a blue ray player in the room. Large TV in room with free Internet access. Covered parking, also included. Some other extras as well. Like I mentioned, not necessarily first class but all at a very, very reasonable price. We stayed at the Waldorf in NYC a few years back, and the breakfast for one person was $139, $159 with eggs benedict, plus taxes, tip, ect. No coffee maker in the Waldorf room, but room service at the Waldorf would bring up a tea or coffee service for $39, plus taxes and tip. My point is, this is not the Waldorf, but for the cost of about 2 pots of tea at the Waldorf you get a lot of extras and a reasonable room. So the negative reviews of some of the amenities at this very reasonably priced property to me make little sense, give that Petoskey is not NYC and these people of the North are doing everything possible to provide great value.

When checking in we were first told our room wasn’t ready yet. A couple of minutes later we were given a room which we found out was handicapped room. Had to stand against the wall in the shower or the water sprayed out onto the bathroom floor and the shower head was too low. It was very nice that they offered food from early morning until 10 at night.

Great value for the dollar. Bed was good. I got a bit more than I expected for the money.

Friendly staff! Amazing comfy, adjustable beds! All three meals included daily! What a treasure!

Good Location, great Chili available all day for a lunch or snack! Room was comfortable, had some dust balls in the corners, floors could have been cleaner. All linens and towels were fresh and in good shape! We would stay here again.

I have stayed at this place many times. Petoskey has several hotels and they are all similar. This place has no pool so in exchange, they offer free haircuts (which I think is a riot). They have a little salon there with a dedicated stylist. I didn't get my hair cut this time but I have previously. Their "breakfast" runs all day and for those with no religious dietary restrictions, you can easily eat all your meals there - hot soups, frozen dinners, juices, cappuccino, etc.

The cafe of free food was nice. Free popcorn a plus. The staff always greeted people with a cheerful hello.

Really like the selection at breakfast and through out the day. The fact it is open so late is akso a plus.

It's an older property but it is very well kept. The heat/air conditioning is on the loud side and they did not restock my shower soap, those were my only two complaints. There is a free cafe that is open most of the day which is outstanding.

This is a basic motor lodge with no thrills. The staff was very friendly. The rooms show signs of age. Stay included breakfast, lunch, dinner and is self-serve. The dining area is small but seating was available. Food selects are basic hot items, including self made waffles, but two refrigerators and one freezer offered foods that most small lodges don't offer. Convenient location to the casino and shopping area - many in walking distance.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. After the first night, I visited the front desk twice in one day to address cleanliness issues and a lack of toiletries. Once in the morning when I left and once when I returned in the evening. Both times I was told they would take care of it, and they never did. Ironically, housekeeping had visited my room in between my visits to the front desk, as the bed had been made. This motel consists of two buildings. The building I was in had electrical issues and lost power. So on my second night, I had to be moved to the other building. It was incredibly inconvenient, but at least I had toiletries in my new room. Calls to the front desk from the rooms would go unanswered. I always had to walk down to the lobby. On my last day, I checked out in the morning. I realized that evening that I had left some expensive beverages in the fridge. I called the hotel from my cell phone and they picked up right away. I asked if the room had been given to other occupants that day, and they said “no”. I explained I had left things in the fridge and wanted to pick them up. They went and checked the room and told me the beverages were gone. With all the lack of attention to detail during my entire stay, I’m supposed to believe that housekeeping checked the fridge and “threw away” my beverages.

Clean and cozy, this place hasn't let me down yet. I love the adjustable beds. The cafe is awesome. There's a great selection for food and the whole place feels so comfortable.

The bed was so comfortable and the room was clean.

Compact room but had all my mom and I needed for a one stay. The food offering were plentiful as well.
