Good value, pleasant staff, clean and close to 401. Hotel is close to restaurant and malls. Free parking and Wi-Fi. Restaurant/pub on site. Indoor swimming pool and exercise area. Also meeting rooms for corporate events.
Opening weekend of "Play On", a comedy, presented by the Northumberland Players troupe. We attended the Sunday buffet dinner and show. Good food and service, hilarious play, well acted. A must see. Buffet included roast beef and roast ham, salads, roasted potatoes with onions, chicken in gravy, yorkshire pudding and an assortment of delicious desserts. Sunday dinner is at 5 pm, show at 7. Friday and Saturdays dinner at 6 and show at 8.
We were at this hotel because of the Dinner Theatre package. If you want an economical night away, don't hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity for a lovely buffet dinner, show and accommodation at this very comfortable hotel. The total package was $235 per couple. We think this is the deal of the century!
Weekend getaway, Friendly and kind staff, room was clean, awesome water pressure in the shower, restaurant/lounge had great food with live bands at night. Great location, easy to find. With all this hotel has to offer, its worth the price. Will definitely be staying here again
We decided to go for a short getaway, wanted to relax and have an indoor pool and spa, boys loved it, we loved it, great place, very clean, great staff. My only wish would be a small continental breakfast provided, other then that I certainly will go again, many times!!!
Booked a king bed room which was a nice size and has a couch and table. Bathroom has a wall to wall counter, which is great for toiletry bags. Lots of room to spread out. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There were two pillow options, a king size and queen and both were ok - nice and cushiony which is my preferred type. Heating system worked very well and was quiet, but the fridge emitted a constant extremely loud buzz and we had to unplug it to be able to sleep. Just there for one night and only in the room to sleep and nothing to put in the fridge, so not a big deal. Sliding door drapes are black-out style, so the room was nice and dark for sleeping, especially since we were on the first floor facing the parking lot But the drapes don't have a white liner fabric so had to keep them closed in the morning to dress. The only light comes from the sliding doors so it's depressing to have to dress without any natural light in the morning. I would stay again as the price is right and it's perfect for our one night visits when we see friends in the area. We don't want breakfast in the morning so we prefer a price that doesn't include breakfast. Two issues that really do bother me about the hotel - I do not appreciate being sent long surveys and reminder emails after a stay. If I have time I will fill it out but if I don't, I don't want reminder emails filling up my inbox. I decided to fill out the survey after the second email and could not believe that at the end I was asked to submit a review to Google and when I closed that box, another popped up for Trip Advisor. I almost always submit reviews to Trip Advisor, but as I don't work for Best Western, I resent the heavy handed approach and expectation that I will take a fair chunk of my time to promote their business. Issue #2. This isn't related to my experience, but I do feel I should mention that my niece had booked a large block of rooms for an August '18 wedding and had a written confirmation. The wedding is being held about 45 minutes away, but the Best Western Cobourg was the largest and best positioned property for the wedding guests. Several weeks ago she went to check something and was told that the reservation was gone and another wedding now had her rooms. My niece is currently in another province and didn't ask her parents to help, so don't know how high she took the matter, but it seems atrocious to me that management at any level would shrug off her problem given she was in possession of a written confirmation from the hotel. To give the hotel the benefit of the doubt, if it was a mistake, her reservation should have been the one to be honored as it was made months prior to the new wedding booking. It is obviously unfortunate as someone would be disappointed, but the matter was handled very unprofessionally. My neice has now had to book a hotel in Trenton which is much further for the mostly from Toronto guests.
We stay here at least once a year. The kids love the pool. The staff are very friendly and the rooms clean. The only issue I had this year was that the heater/fan was right next to where I was sleeping and it came on every few minutes all night blowing in my face and making noise so I didn’t sleep. Everyone else slept very well.
Good hotel that suits our family need to be in Cobourg over the Christmas holidays. Rooms have recently been refurbished & they have a great bed product. We have a small dog & particularly like the ground floor rooms with patio doors for ease. This was our 3rd visit and never had any issues - always great staff. We had breakfast in their newly renovated restaurant (which looks much improved), however one of our very worst ever breakfast dining experiences on Christmas morning. Eggs Florentine & Eggs Benedict were atrocious! Have never had Eggs Florentine with fried onions on them before & net result the muffins were soft & soggy with the deluge of oil from the fried onions. Very cold hollandaise sauce on very cold eggs made for a truly inedible experiences. Server was very pleasant and offered a replacement dish which we declined as we needed to be somewhere. As it was Christmas morning I just assumed they had some junior staff in the kitchen and they were just trying to do their best, however when I did complain to the Front Desk (Lisa who was amazing) - very surprised to learn that the Executive Chef himself was in the kitchen. This was even more concerning as he clearly thought this was acceptable? Very positive recovery by Lisa who assured me they would make an adjustment on bill which they did & was greatly appreciated. However, I am very disappointed that they have spent so much money on the refurbishment of the restaurant yet seem not to have put as much focus on the quality of the kitchen/food.
Never disappoints and always look forward to the BW because the staff do a wonderful job welcoming and making the stay so enjoyable. Pet friendly, ample parking and fantastic pub make it tops on our list.
Room was small but clean and king size bed was awesome. Staff are very nice and helpful. Bonus is that there is a pub attached so didn’t have to bundle up to go out into the cold or drive to get there! Pool was nice and also took advantage of the hot tub/whirlpool.
