About this property
Ironmaster Mansion — 1700's historic stone guest house with creek view
Be a part of history while staying on this waterfront property of the Ironmaster's Mansion. This two-story stone guesthouse, situated just steps away from the mansion, was built in the early 1700's. The timeless character of the home, together with the peaceful property creates an escape that feels like you've gone back in time, all while being only 20 minutes away from downtown Lancaster City.
Nestled at the crux of the renowned "river hills" the Ironmaster Mansion property is located directly beside the Pequea Creek. This is a nature lover's dream destination. Enjoy woods, hiking and biking trails, rock climbing, fishing, tubing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Two easy access points to the Enola Low Grade Trail are within one mile. This trail is perfect for biking or walking and is connected by historic trestle bridges.
The property is on a major routed road making it easy to find and for quick, direct travel to Lancaster City and other popular tourist destinations. Tanger Outlets, Dutch Wonderland and Sight and Sound Theater are all within 25 minutes.
On site parking is provided for two vehicles directly to the side of the property. The Pequea Creek is just steps away from the parking area and a popular hiking path that follows the Pequea Creek can be accessed by simply crossing the road. Two easy access points to the Enola Low Grade Trail are within one mile.
Outside enjoy a newly built deck while listening to the water of the nearby creek. On the first floor you will find a cozy living room with gas fireplace and 42" smart TV and a quaint kitchen, equipped with electric range, full size refrigerator and dishwasher. Upstairs is a newly renovated bathroom with shower only, and two bedrooms, each with queen size beds. Newly updated central air/heat system warms and cools the home accordingly. A beautifully handcrafted wooden staircase will greet you directly at your parking. This will lead you up a steep bank of about 25 steps to the historic stone Ironmaster Mansion guest house that you will call home. The steps have two landings and are well lit in the evening. Please view exterior photos to assess your ability of the stairs, especially considering luggage.
Outdoor lights will be on to welcome you if you’re arriving after dark. Please use caution on the brick pathway which can be slippery while raining and when wet.
A keypad is mounted on the door to unlock the smart lock for self check-in.
The house is newly updated with central heating and air conditioning.
On the first floor is the kitchen and living room with a small dining table. This is a drop leaf table that can extend to seat four. Extra chairs are located in the kitchen closet.
Enjoy a smart TV and gas fireplace in the living room. The gas fireplace warms the home quickly and creates the coziest ambiance, but rest assured that central heating is the main heat source.
In the living room a sofa pulls out to a queen size mattress. Linens and pillows for the sofa bed are found in the upstairs closet.
The creek is located on the opposite side of the stone lane and can be admired from the large, newly built deck. The deck has a table, chairs, and lounge chairs perfect for sunbathing. Also enjoy views of the creek from the windows of the house when the leaves are down.
There is a very steep and narrow staircase from the kitchen that leads up to the second floor. The stairs can be tricky to navigate. If your luggage is large consider using the secondary stairs on the outside of the home, just past the front door.
On the second floor you will find a bathroom with shower only, and two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. Kindly do not access the unfinished attic.
***We wish the property was more handicap accessible and friendlier to those who have difficulty with stairs. Please carefully assess your ability after reviewing photos of the steep exterior and interior steps.
Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a kitchen, a fireplace, and a patio.

Second time and certainly not the last.
I'll keep this short and sweet. If you want clean, cozy and charming this is absolutely the place. This is our second time staying and once again it was a delight. I think this may be a new yearly tradition for us :)

A hike in the woods
We used this rental as a home base for hiking the area in the fall. It was a beautiful area and one of the hikes was across the street! The host provided top notch amenities making the 18th century building feel modern and welcoming.

Quiet get away for biking & Hiking
Great location for accessing hiking and biking trails. Well supplied kitchen for all our quiet meals at the guest house.
Nice historic cottage, yet with very modern and comfortable amenities. (FYI - There are quite a few steps , just a heads up for anyone who may have trouble with that.) We really enjoyed our stay!
The guest house is a beautiful 18th century house that has been renovated with all of the best modern conveniences. It was immaculate, very comfortable, and the host provided many little things that enhanced our stay. We especially enjoyed the deck overlooking nearby Pequea Creek, and the walking path along the creek. Dinner one evening on the “Pad-io” of the nearby Frogtown Cafe was very good. Obviously a well-loved local cafe/pub.

Peaceful and Expansive
We so loved the space and its history. Allison took such pains to create an ambiance embracing what is most lovely locally [fresh flowers, great coffee] and the timelessness of the space. It was comfortable, well appointed and lovely. Allison was incredibly helpful - left us some lovely little cakes upon arrival as well ! We would highly recommend. Please note, that it may be problematic for people with accessibility issues. There are many steps....

Great Choice When Traveling To Lancaster
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Ironmaster Mansion guest house, and it was excellent. The restored 1700s two-story stone house is full of character and charm. It is located next to the Pequea Creek. Plus, it’s close (but not too close) to Lancaster and Sight and Sound Theater.
We walked into the guest house and immediately noticed the extra touches like K-cups, fresh-cut flowers, and even milk — we instantly knew this was going to be a great stay.
We loved taking a walk along the trail that follows the creek; next time we’ll bring swimsuits to spend some time in the water.
Having breakfast out on the patio was a highlight, allowing us to soak in nature.
I highly recommend staying at the guest house.

Wine Down Weekend at a Historical Farmhouse
Had an awesome weekend enjoying the historical farmhouse, being one with nature walking the trail across the street, and visiting some local establishments.
From the moment we booked, the owners provided prompt responses and answered any questions we had. Directions were on point and easy to follow.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the history behind the area. The owners took a lot of care in the restoration process.
We even got to relaxed on the porch with a glass of wine while watching the Amish horse and buggies drive by.
The trail immediately across the street was a hidden gem. After about a 35 minute walk you end at a covered bridge. The trail is adjacent to the water; there are areas to stop and take in the scenic views.
Relaxing weekend-we also enjoyed all the special spa products in the bathroom.
Thank you for everything!
Nothing but good things to say here - my partner and I spent a very relaxing and refreshing late fall/early winter weekend here with another couple. Stepping out of the car, we were at once greeted by the soothing babble of the creek. We felt immediately at home - inside and out the home is beautiful and tidy. If you love historic homes, architecture or just rustic charm, this is your place. The kitchen is a joy to cook in (rustic and with lots of counter space, plus new appliances) if that's your thing. The bedrooms are quaint and inviting and quiet nights spent by the fireplace were the best. We honestly spent a lot more time just in the home than we expected - it's so cozy and comfortable that you just don't want to leave. However, there are plenty of trails and things to explore, so definitely take advantage if you can drag yourself away from the comfy glow of the fireplace.
Host was also very nice and communicative via the app, email and text. Made sure we had everything we needed (which we centainly did - home was very well appointed!) but left us be otherwise, so it was very private. Check in and check out were effortless. 100% recommended, we will absolutely be back.
