The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and dual aspect windows to the south and west. The twin room and single room have open views towards the Pennine Hills. The family bathroom has a bath and a shower cubicle and a stone wall with arrow-slit windows.

Nearby, across a quiet no-through road, is a children’s play area. The local 17th-century pub, serving highly recommended food, is only a very short walk.

Conveniently positioned, 3 miles away, is the market town of Penrith with its variety of shopping and leisure facilities. The nearby family attraction of Rheged is great for all ages comprising an art gallery, cinema, craft classes, shopping, an indoor play area and café. There is a swimming pool at Penrith and, during the summer months, an open-air pool at nearby Askham.

Situated just 2½ miles from the beautiful scenery of Ullswater, you can enjoy a trip around the lake on a steamer. Why not leave the car and use the local bus service from the village? The spectacular journey along the shores of Ullswater and over the Kirkstone Pass takes you to Lake Windermere via Aira Force waterfall and villages along the way. During the summer months several of the buses are double decker open-top.

A lovely cottage in a peaceful location, with a private drive. Extremely well furnished with lots of thought being given to comfort. The kitchen was excellently equipped and it was like being in a home away from home. The views from the bedroom windows were beautiful. Tea in the back garden surrounded by lots of lovely flowers was relaxing. The cottage was located within easy reach of amenities and attractions. The hosts were very helpful.

I loved everything about this beautifully appointed cottage. The space is comfortable, wonderfully warm with stone walls and fireplace, charming setting, and upscale finishes. Wonderful library of books, games, DVDs and CDs are available. Since I cooked dinner every night I would greatly have appreciated some ceramic saute pans for eggs, sauteed dishes, etc. The non-stick sautee pans that are in the kitchen are old and chipped. Also, the knobs on the range to control the heat are difficult to read. I would definitely rebook this beautiful home.

There is so much to do in the surrounding area and nothing beats returning to this quiet stunning property at the end of a hard days exploring.
