Evergreen Laurel Penang

4.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The Staffs are very friendly and Helpful. Would surely recommend.

Evergreen could be rated as 5 stars 20 years back but definitely not now. The rooms are dated. The service is atrocious (took me 10 minutes just to check-in and there was no queue, although they were polite). The most disappointing is the breakfast. Evergreen charges a decent amount for the breakfast. Many three star hotels in Penang (or anywhere else) provides a much, much better spread and presentation. Only plus point for the hotel is that you got comfortable beds and pillows. Overall, there are many significantly better hotels in Penang for the same price.

This hotel is in a good location in town. The rooms are clean and the service is very good. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will go back some time. Good price for the service the hotel gives.

Great value for me. They gave me a twin bed since they ran out of king, but upgraded me to a great view of the ocean so I guess it was worth it. Great value for money.

I very much enjoyed everything about the Evergreen Laurel Hotel on Gurney Drive in Penang. The staff is very attentive, the room was great with a view out to sea. There are good places to eat within walking distance. The swimming pool is large and great for swimming, as well as a nice jacuzzi, steam room, and dry sauna. The breakfast was also quite nice with lots of choice. I have stayed there two years in a row and would gladly return.

The hotel looks great from the outside but the room inside is old and dirty like a 2 star hotel. The toilet stopper rod broke; hence, I had to flush the toilet manually by opening the stopper and let the water flush. Had the breakfast buffet at the hotel, 24 hours later, I had diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Not a pleasant stay.

The staff are nice. Place is very clean. The bar people are very pleasant.

Good, clean hotel with trained staff. Enjoyable inhouse breakfast. Short walk to local food stalls with different varieties. Great open beach front trail for a good walk or run (about 1.5km long).

We stayed for 4 nights with our children in August. We couldn't be happier with the location as it's walking distance to the mall and a few eateries just outside the hotel. Our kids enjoyed the pool and their buffet breakfast had a good spread. However, the hotel needs a little upgrade as it shows its age.

Very good location, clean and comfortable rooms, helpful staff ... at a fair price. Will return to this hotel on my next trip to Penang.
