I stayed here for two nights while visiting Paris to hear an organ recital in Nôtre Dame. I was pleased that the hotel is clean and well-run with helpful staff at reception. The room is not large, but good double-glazing kept out noise from the Boulevard. Unusually, it has a tiny kitchenette in a recess next to the wardrobe. The TV was fine, but had only French channels. The breakfast was adequate, if modest in its selection of food, but was served in a smart basement room with a helpful person in charge. The receptionist was able to put my luggage in a secure room after check-out before I collected it later. The Montparnasse area is a lot quieter than central Paris, but the Vavin metro station (Line no. 4) is very close (take the Blvd. Raspail exit) and connects direct with Gare du Nord. I prefer this route to the RER line for three reasons - Line no. 4 is very close to the hotel whereas the RER station (although recommended by a person on reception) is about 5-6 minutes or more walk with luggage. Secondly the RER was very crowded (more than line 4) and thirdly the RER merges at Gare du Nord a very long walk along corridors before you get to the 'old' station and Eurostar, whereas Line 4 emerges in the old station close to Eurostar. I thought that the receptionist's advice turned out to be a "bad call", though I agree that Line 4 takes longer because it has several more stops along the route. Next to the Vavin Metro are several very famous (if expensive) café/restaurants such as La Rotonde (favoured by Monsieur Macron) and La Coupole. Another advantage of line 4 is that it stops at Cité very close to Nôtre Dame and the river banks. I would recommend Hotel Villa Luxembourg to anyone wanting a medium-priced, no-frills hotel in a different district away from hoards of travel groups.
This hotel could do with upgrades but all things considered I would say it is pretty good for the price we paid. The room was comfortable and clean though not very modern. The wifi was a bit slow but worked all the time we were there. The temperature of the shower took a while to settle but we had hot water each time we needed it. We had room 207 which had the squeakiest bathroom door ever. Apologies to other guests but we did report it. Any other faults we found would be nitpicking. Also, Bd Montparnasse has many quiet little street cafes which is often a bit of relief after a day of hussle and bussle. It is close to Metro station "Vivan" on line no.4 which is very useful. Also only a 5 minute walk form mainline RER (B) which has direct route to Paris CDG, so while it is about a 30 minute walk to the Seine and sightseeing attractions it is convenient for local transport. I will definitely stay here again when we visit Paris. But next time I will book direct with the hotel instaed of through an agency.
the hotel is conveniently located in paris, about a 30min walk from Notre Dame cathedral and public transport is conveniently accessible. The receptionist, Massi, is an asset to this establishment and goes above and beyond to ensure guests enjoy their stay.
Villa luxembourg is an average hotel that is able to provide the basic accomodations for a quick trip to Paris. It has an overall, "ok", location with most sites being around 2km walking distance and the staff was friendly in that they allowed us to check in our luggage and site see even before and after our room was ready. The downside is that the rooms are very small and if anyone traveling is elderly or handicapped they certainly aren't using the bathtub/shower as I had to almost run and jump to just get in. They definitely would've at least received a 4th star on the rating if they would decide to ever replace the carpets, chairs, and the bed comforters. The comforters are very old and the one we had had stains on it so we didn't use it and placed it on the floor. The chair in the room had a nice big stain on it and the carpets have to be at least 15 years old, if not older, with stains and its pulling up at all corners of room. This room worked for our stay as it basically just provided a place for us to freshen up and sight see the city and then get a quick rest then do it all again.
Good to excellent hotel with great supporting staff,In our experience, due to losing luggage( an airline major error) the desk staff was very supportive in helping us with airline interaction,A hotel to recommend.
Nice location near restaurants and metro. But the staff here doesn't understand "DO NOT DISTURB". They came in our room twice, even though the sign DO NOT DISTURB was put on the door. They moved our stuff around the room and the clothes. Seriously?
A wonderful hotel, a very good welcoming and service. Situated in the middle of Paris near all comodities and transportations, not far from Effel Tower, Champs Elysée with an amazing view of Montparanass Tower from my room window, I recomand.
Reasonable place to stay for the price. Quite a good location with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are very small, but you expect that in a budget priced European hotel. What I couldn't accept was the fact that so much maintenance was needed in the rooms. We had two adjoining rooms for ourselves and our daughter. In both bathrooms the selector switch between shower and bath did not work, so when taking a shower the water was also running from the bath outlet. Safe was not working in one room and needed to be repaired. Plugs in both bathroom sinks were inoperable. The hotel really needs to address this, as this wastes water - and costs them money. Mattresses on the beds were very old and worn and needed replacing - was waking up with back aches each day. Air conditioning did not work in both rooms. Also, there was a court yard dining area just outside our windows - people sit out there until very late eating meals, talking and laughing, which makes it noisy and hard to sleep. You can't close the windows to block the noise because the air conditioning doesn't work - and yes, the weather was warm during our stay. I would not stay there again due to the lack of maintenance, and the fact that I cannot sleep because of the noise from outside and the old, worn out mattress.
I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Villa Luxembourg is very well located and everything is available I found the room well equipped but a bit small. This is a very pleasant hotel at the height of a city like Paris
Run down and tired. No basin plug. Door handle came off in our hand. Safe not working. Thin and fraying towels. Stained carpet. Makeshift wooden panel to hide plumbing under bathroom sink. However the breakfast was good. Excellent location. Most staff helpful.
