Grand Hotel Dore

I have stayed at this hotel twice during business trips. It is conveniently situated right next to a metro stop and is near the scenic Bois de Vincennes. The rooms are reasonably sized, and the breakfast is excellent.

Away from center but easy metro access. Neighborhood with friendly restaurants and bakeries. Helpful hotel staff

The staff was great! The hotel was clean and I loved having clean sheets every day. The room was big enough for the amount of time I spent in it. The only fault would be the tiny elevator. Only room for one with luggage. But there is always the stairs. A pleasant experience.

My wife and I stay stayed in Paris for 4 nights of our 2 week stay around Europe (Madrid and Rome being the other 2 cities). Of the 3 cities, a hotel in Paris was by far the most expensive and we had to settle for something in our budget. Hotel Dore was that budget friendly hotel. The location was a little far from the center of Paris but fortunately there was a metro stop less than half a block from the hotel which was very convenient. The neighborhood was also pretty quiet and safe compared to other neighborhoods with a few options for food but nothing really for shopping. Towards the later hours, everything pretty much closes down and not much to do. The other positive this hotel has to offer was the free breakfast included every morning. It was a pleasant selection of breads, cheese, ham, pastries, and cereal. The lady attending guests to the breakfast was very attentive in getting what we needed. The only big complaints I have about Grand Hotel Dore was how small the room was. There was barely any room for my wife and I to move and the walls were also pretty thin. Our view was of an alley and it got kind of noisy in the morning. Other than that, it's a safe bet if you need a short term stay and save some money while doing so.

This was a 2-week research trip. Everything about the hotel was fine. The room was comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent, and the staff were extremely friendly. The location, just a few doors away from a metro stop, was a definite plus. Of the many hotels I have stayed in while in Paris, this was certainly one of the best.

During our stay, the hotel was re-decorating (plaster/wallpaper in the hallways) - but no matter. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. This hotel had a GREAT staff. Each person who works there is nice. Everything is close to this hotel - restaurants, bakery, and the all-important metro. This hotel is typically European, however. Small (but very clean) room, comfortable bed, free wifi and a small breakfast every morning. If you need a place to sleep while visiting Paris (not a resort by any means), a place to check email/do light work online (had great and consistent connectivity on the 5th Floor) and an excellent (European style) breakfast each morning, this place is for you. It was perfect for two people. We booked online and got a great rate. We both loved this hotel and will definitely keep it in mind for the future.

We stayed for a week at Hotel Dore in September 2011. We read a lot of reviews about this hotel and settled on this one. Sure enough, we had smallish room with a smallish bathroom but with a really great shower. We have been in smaller rooms and elevators in Europe. We slept well on the one bed in a quiet, corner room on the 5th level. (Hint: Larger sized persons might find the hotel rooms too small.) Plenty of places to eat nearby, including a Subway and a Big Mac,not too far. Most importantly, the metro station (Daumesnil) is right next to the hotel, so after loading up with a "continental" breakfast in the hotel, we were off each day to explore the city with a "carnet" of tickets in hand. Overall, the quiet hotel was perfect for us, made even more terrific by the receptionists all of whom were able to converse with us in English and were unstinting in their efforts to help us with maps, directions, places to visit etc. Kudos to Geraldine and Claire for their assistance in making our stay most pleasurable.
