My wife and I had a connecting flight out of Panama that was cancelled last minute and thankfully we were brought to Intercontinental Miramar. The staff did an excellent job of making sure that we had everything we needed; we got a room with a great view, and the food here was incredible. It made the delay seem like a nice second vacation. Overall a fantastic experience, and although unplanned, would not mind coming back again!
This hotel was fine, with the exception of one major flaw. The shower in my room was cold!! After the first night, I let the front desk know and they said they would send someone up to fix it right away. Later that day, I mentioned this to one of my colleagues and she said "Good luck!". She had already been at the InterContinental Miramar for several days and had received a similar assurance, without result. In fact, they changed her room twice, and she still had only cold water in the shower. So, I can only conclude this is a widespread issue in the InterContinental Miramar. Don't stay here is you expect a hot (or even warm) shower. In the other hand, if you're morning routine, starts with a cold splash, the rooms are nice with good beds. Breakfast buffet has good international selection.
I stayed here for business for 10 days and the services were +A. From the front desk personnel to the restaurant everything was excellent. They were all very professionals and they strived to serve you better every single day. The food at the restaurant was excellent from breakfast to dinner, you eat fresh food and tasty food. I will stay here for business or vacations. Great Place...
To be a hotel of its prestige and rate, it should improve some aspects. Although I have no complaints about the splendid room I received, I do believe that they can significantly improve some basic amenities. The internet speed was very poor (only 2 Mpbs); In their bar they did not have any Whiskey Single Malt and their options for Vodka were not the best or appropriate for a hotel of its category; Your options for breakfast could include some specialties, it was a standard breakfast buffet that is typically served in any 3 star hotel. I have to acknowledge that the warmth and efficiency of its staff was somewhat bordering on excellence.
After 2 days without hot water for showering and shaving, I requested reasonable compensation from the hotel. I suggested a bottle of wine with dinner to compliment my full board package might go some way to acknowledging the inconvenience and discomfort of a very invigorating start and end to the day. The duty manager, displaying complete inflexibility and more than a little arrogance, offered a paltry single glass of wine. This, from a brand-leading, 'quality' hotel is unacceptable and I strongly recommend to all future visitors to Panama City that you spend your hard-earned money on a hotel chain that cares about customer service and has respect for its clients. In short, go elsewhere.
I spent one night here at the InterContinental Miramar in Panama City after spending the previous two nights at a nearby hotel. Because I am an IHG Platinum Ambassador I wanted to stay at least 1 night here to participate in a points-earning contest--but that is beyond the point. The hotel is old, which isn't necessarily a bad thing if it is well maintained and this hotel is only so-so. The lobby seems recently remodeled as do the hallways (at least the carpeting), and maybe the rooms. However, my room which although it had a gorgeous view of Panama Bay did nonetheless have a lot of wear and tear--sloppy painting in the bathroom, scuff marks on the walls, semi-worn out couch, etc. This wasn't that big of a deal but the fact that this hotel is NOT cheap and generally costs more than the nearby Hilton and Waldorf Astoria. However, my least favorite part about this hotel was the fact that the staff were NOT particularly friendly or welcoming, in fact somewhat the opposite. If you are as familiar with InterContinental Hotels as I am then you will know that this is unusual. In fact, it was the least friendly staff I have encountered in over a dozen InterContinental hotels I have stayed at. For example, upon arriving to check in I stood around for 10 minutes while the one person at the desk helped someone else while never calling anyone to come up front and help out or to even acknowledge the fact that I and a crew of Iberia Airlines employees were standing around waiting. Finally, a young lady came out, no uniform on/no nametag and checked me in (although she was at least pleasant.) Then when checking out the following day the man who helped me (Federico) not only did NOT ask how my stay was--or anything else--he also said that he couldn't give me change for a $20 some of which I wanted to give as tips to the bellboy and taxi driver. The only person who I would say was nice--and who actually asked how my stay was--was Jermaine the bellboy. Maybe the rest of the folks at the InterContinental could learn something from him. Anyway, I'd give 4 stars out of 5 for the hotel facilities but just 3 overall when factoring in the general unfriendliness of the staff. There are better hotels in Panama City for this price range--particularly the Waldorf Astoria or the Hilton. Stay there and you might even save yourself a few dollars.
Beautiful spacious and well designed rooms. Excellent bedding and bathroom facilities. We chose the Executive Club option and it was worth every penny! Dining facilities were excellent and varied nightly or Al a carte. Great swimming pool with more that sufficient loungers and shade Facilities. Excellent attentive staff all round.. an absolute pleasure. We highly recommend the hotel. Rumour has it that one can rub shoulders with President who resides in the same hotel...if that's important to you!
When I checked in Yvonne Lohrer, Gerente de Operaciones greeted me and, shes very cordial, professional and seems to treat all guests and tasks with the same level of attention and care. Ernesto Dawkins Capitan in the restaurant was extremely attentive and great personality along waiter Carlos Riera Salonero. Food & service were great. Room views stunning as well
Ive traveled to many hotels around Central America and let me tell you this Hotel employs the BEST Staff I have ever come across with, from getting a hug and a smile from Ariel Gonzalez at our Breakfast to coming back to the room and getting wonderful service as our Chambermaid cleaned up our room impeccably and did it as if we were family. I highly recommend this Hotel
This hotel was nice and comfortable. The price was good and the location was great. I enjoyed the casino! I actually won some money lol The staff was freindly and helpful. A nice place to stay for a resaonable price.
