Definitely a very good service. Always a smile and a kind word. Always around to help and solve every issue. Nice food, good drinks. For events a very nice option in an excellent spot nearby everything.

As IHG Spire Elite members we were upgraded to a ‘suite’ for our vacation stay at the hotel. Our suite came complete with kitchen units and large fridge. Only, it wasn’t actually a functioning kitchen, just a left over from its previous life, probably harking back to the hotel’s former life as a Holiday Inn! There were no dishes, cutlery, pans etc. We had to borrow dishes from the dining room in order to be able to self-cater anything. The hotel is looking very ‘tired’ compared with other local hotels and the many other Crown Plazas we have visited. Would we stay again? Probably not, given the superior hotels within a short distance. POSITIVES FOR US * The wonderfully helpful, Nilka, on reception. * Very comfortable bed. * Very convenient for the local metro station * 20-minute walk to the sea front * Safe, business area with several good restaurants within 10 minutes walk * Near a local garage with shop for supplies * OK food and good service * Relatively inexpensive NEGATIVES FOR US * Very noisy air con unit. * Antiquated bath and sink with ill-fitting sink plugs. * No club room (despite elevator signs saying there is one!) * No daily bottled water supplied. * Room servicing variable; some days we had face clothes, some days small towels etc; other days not. Random toiletries each day, no consistency. Laundry not collected from room. * Very small, swimming pool. * Small, charmless bar area.

Old, run down, pervasive smell of humidity in the bedroom suite. Breakfast in the cafe was chaotic and the menu designed for locals, not for western tourists. The check-in process was mercifully eficient, but some of the personnel were new and inexperienced. We asked for help to make a reservation at a restaurant; we gave the restaurant's telephone number to the desk employee but he did not know how to get an outside line!

Located close to the Metro station (Iglesia de Carmen) and plenty of eating places within walking distance. The first room we were in had no hot water, so we were moved to a better room where the water heater was working and the ac was quieter. Breakfasts were buffet style and there was plenty to choose from. Staff were friendly, and it was useful to have washing machine and dryer in the hotel. However the hotel looks tired and could do with a really thorough clean. Quieter rooms don't face the main road where the hotel entrance is located.

We spent the night between flights, so only spent 8 hours at the hotel, but found it comfortable, clean and nice. I was extremely disappointed that the amazing pool closed at 9 (!). We arrived at 9:30 so were not permitted to swim. I would stay there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Panama City and were pretty disappointed. The hotel is in a convenient location and the room was ok but other than that we had a lot of problems. The staff barely speaks English. I am not a person who expects everyone in a foreign country to speak English but in a hotel I expect they will be able to understand me and answer my questions about the city and give me directions to places which this staff could not. They never understood any of our questions. The breakfast was pretty tasteless. Every cab they got for us was way overpriced. Everything we asked for took forever-it took 10 minutes to get change for a $20. But the worst was on our last day they never even cleaned our room. We called when we returned from a day of sight seeing and they said they would come clean when we were out for dinner. When we got back it still wasn't cleaned and we called again to complain. All they offered was to come clean but it was way too late for that as we were about to go to bed. We complained again when we were checking out and we couldn't even speak to a manager for 15 minutes. In the end they decided to comp our $10 water charge (which is a ridiculous price for water by the way-every other hotel had free bottled water). They also offered to give us points to some club which we have no interest in being a part of, especially after this experience. They should have given us much more. It is unacceptable not to have a clean room in a hotel like this. Next time I come to Panama City, I would definitely stay in a boutique hotel is Casco Viejo and I suggest you do too. This experience will make me hesitate before staying in a Crowne Plaza again in the future.

Great location if you are exploring the city form its financial district, but rooms are a bit worn out and clearly deserve some improvements. No noise isolation in the busiest part of the city where cars play the horn 24 hours a day, and tubing and flushing noise from everywhere. Noisy AC. There was shortage of water, but what really disappointed me was the buffet breakfast: low quality and no taste (unripe tropical fruits, Bimbo white square tasteless bread, and no variety in hot dishes). The staff was very nice and friendly and always attentive. Nevertheless, based on my experience, I would try another hotel next time.

Staff was excellent....Very slow checking in but lack of staff....rooms clean, need of small repairs, NO HOT WATER in the four days we were there. BUFFET breakfast was just okay, once Chinese food for breakfast..no...no....QUIET hotel.,,,,

This hotel is in walking distance of all the main hotels and casinos. The hotel can help you fly to nearby islands to fish or to the Panama Delta to explore the rainforest. It is a good safe basecamp hotel

I travel the US and Europe 60+ days a years and whilst I don't often write hotel reviews, on this occasion I wanted to take a moment to write a short note and recognize the fantastic staff at this particular Crowne Plaza. Davinia, Cesar, Angie, Jesus (doorman?) and Nilka (and those in the restaurant and bar who's names I forget) were super accommodating of our needs and treated my family as theirs throughout our stay. My wife and i very much appreciate the extra blankets, towels, local advice and humour with our kids while in the reception area. It's not everyone that takes time to engage young kids or to check on their well being and for that we are very thankful during our Thanksgiving vacation. People make a place and often the trip. Panama has been an unforgettable experience for our family and the staff at the Crowne Plaza have been a bit part of that. All the best to the Staff - I have no doubt that one day you will all become a GM of your own location. 😊
