Great location if you are exploring the city form its financial district, but rooms are a bit worn out and clearly deserve some improvements. No noise isolation in the busiest part of the city where cars play the horn 24 hours a day, and tubing and flushing noise from everywhere. Noisy AC. There was shortage of water, but what really disappointed me was the buffet breakfast: low quality and no taste (unripe tropical fruits, Bimbo white square tasteless bread, and no variety in hot dishes). The staff was very nice and friendly and always attentive. Nevertheless, based on my experience, I would try another hotel next time.
Staff was excellent....Very slow checking in but lack of staff....rooms clean, need of small repairs, NO HOT WATER in the four days we were there. BUFFET breakfast was just okay, once Chinese food for breakfast..no...no....QUIET hotel.,,,,
This hotel is in walking distance of all the main hotels and casinos. The hotel can help you fly to nearby islands to fish or to the Panama Delta to explore the rainforest. It is a good safe basecamp hotel
I travel the US and Europe 60+ days a years and whilst I don't often write hotel reviews, on this occasion I wanted to take a moment to write a short note and recognize the fantastic staff at this particular Crowne Plaza. Davinia, Cesar, Angie, Jesus (doorman?) and Nilka (and those in the restaurant and bar who's names I forget) were super accommodating of our needs and treated my family as theirs throughout our stay. My wife and i very much appreciate the extra blankets, towels, local advice and humour with our kids while in the reception area. It's not everyone that takes time to engage young kids or to check on their well being and for that we are very thankful during our Thanksgiving vacation. People make a place and often the trip. Panama has been an unforgettable experience for our family and the staff at the Crowne Plaza have been a bit part of that. All the best to the Staff - I have no doubt that one day you will all become a GM of your own location. 😊
No way is this a 4 star hotel. It has one extremely limited restaurant, with rather variable dishes - a very few high quality, but most dull or worse. The bar is something out of the 1980s. The one really good point is that the rooms are large, It was seriously understaffed when we stayed, only one person on the front desk even when a large group were checking in. The front desk don't have a clue about problems with the wi-fi, various non-executed promises over a two hour period until an engineer finally arrived and simply had to reboot the repeater in our room. One of the lifts refused to go to our floor during our entire stay. Our room was damp when we arrived, and it took a good 24 hours to dry it out with the noisy airconditioning. This place needs a good General Manager to sort it out, but the lack of dining options means it will never be more than a 3*. It's in a good location, but so are numerous other hotels nearby.
I normally love the Club Lounge in Crowne Plaza but I was unimpressed with the facilities and food offered here. However there was a young employee called Carlos who was perfectly attentive. He printed off all the documents I needed for the next two of my travels and checked regularly that I was okay.
My family of three (plus pet) stayed here for a month and the service and friendliness of the staff made the lengthy stay great! There were certain members of the staff that were exceptional (Vincente, the manager; Helen, the waitress; Antonio, the doorman; and Elida, the housekeeper). Each of these staff members were notably attentive, professional and pleasant consistently throughout this month-long assignment. The corner suite was roomy with a kitchenette, giving us some space since we were there for so long. Shopping, the metro, and restaurants are all within a short walk, and there is a lot of local culture to be found within a few blocks. The church across the street was beautiful and did not disturb our sleep, however our room was on the back side of the hotel, so maybe that made a difference. Since the location is downtown beside a main thoroughfare, there are local celebrations & festivities occurring almost daily that are easy to attend and are located close to or pass right by the hotel. I loved walking out on the balcony in the evenings, watching the sun go down and listening to the music and activity of the city. If you want a truly Panamanian experience located in the heart of the city, AND still get your IHG travel points, this is the hotel that I recommend.
Flying from Portland, Oregon to Panama by way of Houston left us excruciatingly tired. We had booked another hotel, but were told at the airport by a concierge our booked hotel had no water. Hmmm. We found a young woman representing Crowne Plaza who quickly booked us a room and arranged for a shuttle. As many travelers to this area of the world know, not everything in a hotel works perfectly. However, the room was lovely, modern and the beds were comfortable. We were grateful for a good night's sleep in a clean, safe environment. I do recommend this hotel.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable with lots of light. The breakfast was wonderful-fresh fruits, eggs cooked as you liked, with a good variety of other breakfast dishes. And they changed every morning. Plus the fresh juices at breakfast were so good. We found the location good for us. We walked around the area, checking out the churches, stores and neighbourhoods.
Stayed 4 nights at this hotel to attend a meeting at this same hotel in one of their meeting rooms. PROs Friendly helpful staff at lobby desk. Good group rates and meeting rooms. Hot Breakfast buffet theme changes. Had South American. Asian. American. Mexican. All good. Fresh fruit juices are really good. Enjoyed the watermelon ginger lime. The room Has a coffee maker. Free to print boarding pass at the biz center. Located half a block to metro. Lots of restaurants nearby. CONs Would be helpful if there was a mirror end of driveway to see vehicles coming from left. Needs more reliable internet connection. Chicken in Caesar salad was hard as if reheated.
