We stayed here one night, on our way west. Our room was clean, spacious and had very comfortable beds (well appreciated). We had no problems with the TV, and lighting was good enough to read by. After a good, quiet night's sleep, we went down to the breakfast area. There were lots of choices for breakfast, and there was plenty of each item to choose from. The staff at this hotel was quite friendly. We would certainly stay here again.
There are other motels close by to this poor quality Inn, so look further. We called Choice Hotel from the road to make our reservation, and I didn't have access to Trip Advisor to see what the ratings/reviews were, or we would not have stayed here. I won't make that mistake again. The A/C is installed so far up on the wall that my 6' husband had to stand on a chair to turn it on. We set it at 68 for the night but it turned itself to 74 at some point, so I didn't sleep well. Also the bed was somewhat soft which didn't help with sleeping comfort. The TV was a waste - very few channels - mostly Law & Order reruns. I couldn't get any hot water for my shower so I took a tepid one instead. The hallways were dirty but the room was relatively clean. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The only bright spot was Amanda, the front desk clerk; she was delightful.
This place is not clean. See the pictures. There are several nicer hotels across the interstate near Walmart. Less than a mile away from this hotel. They cost a little more, but trust me, you will want to spend the few extra bucks. I will spend the extra ten bucks the next time my family is in town. I tried to save money because I paid for 3 rooms Friday night, then added 2 more rooms Saturday night. My family members were afraid they would get sick from the filth. I was so embarrassed because I chose this place. The outside appearance and the lobby will fool you. I was refunded $79; the cost of one nights stay.
The WiFi in my room did not work at all. Many of the cable channels would not come in on my tv. I checked at the desk, and the lady said the channel numbers were changed, and told me the number for ones I asked about; however, I could not get them on my tv. Strangely, the channel did come on in the breakfast area and the front desk. The air conditioner, which was a window unit in the wall, made such a loud rattling noise that I could not sleep and had to turn it off. The room did seem to be clean. It was on the first floor, which was downstairs from the lobby. I had to walk downstairs, which was difficult trying to get my luggage down the steps.
I arrived here mid-afternoon. The lady at the desk was very friendly. I was given a room on the downstairs floor that was recently refurbished. There are restaurants nearby including a Burger King. Special Note : This motel is not geared for anybody who has mobility issues (people in wheelchairs). This motel has three floors but there is no real elevator especially to get to the upstairs floors. There is an elevator device in the lobby but you have to have assistance to operate it and the door downstairs needs to be unlocked. I'm not sure how many times it has been used but if there is a need to use it an arm chair needs to be pulled out of the way. There isn't a ramp to get to the downstairs rooms which are four feet below ground level. There is a staircase with six steps. The rear door has the same amount of steps. To get to the breakfast room , you have to go down a flight of steps. The layout of this motel is very similar to what I find at some Super 8s. The breakfast room could be were the ramp is.
The evening desk clerk was busy puffing on a cigarette and not the least bit interested in signing me in. I had just driven for over 12 hours, got settled into the room and was a sleep when the night desk clerk knocked on my door, after 11 pm, waking me up for a non emergency issue. The following morning no one was at the front desk for me to inquire about the ice machine not working, I think she was in the back sleeping. When she finally did decided to show her face. She said it was broken and I could go to the Burger King down the street. The rudest and most unfriendly staff I have ever encountered in my travels. If it had not been so late I would have gone somewhere else. Will never waste my money on this place again, nor would I recommend it. This facility has put a "black eye" on all the Choice Hotels for me. Corp needs to pull their franchise . This place was worse than terrible!
This hotel is very clean and close to everything in Pell City. The front desk staff was helpful and familiar with the area. Stayed at hotel for 11 straight days and had a pro free stay. I would return to this hotel if I have business in the area.
I checked into this room 114 and was immediately in gilded with the smell of urine. Upon entering the bathroom the smell was worse. I noticed the rubber bath Matt was old and sliding towards the drain. This is a picture what was revealed. Mold and some sort of foul substance. Also plugged in what appeared to be a recycled flea market nasty iron. The steam it emitted smelled of a old fish tank. The walls below the sink were covered in slim, dirt, crud etc... Could not use the coffee pot due to a shortage. They were also short on coffee in the morning. Will never stay here again
Nasty, filthy, bathroom so tiny when you opened the door it hit the toilet,,,I had to go in sideways. One hanger, when I asked for more they told me I could go to Dollar Tree and buy some,,,always wore my slippers would not go barefoot, bathroom door would not close, the bathtub had streaks going down the wall when housecleaning sprayed but never wiped down. Worst hotel ever,,,,left day ahead of schedule..... breakfast was decent.
This is the bottom of the barrel hotel. Smells dirty cigarettes stains Lights not work in rooms. The outlet covers are lose. It does have parking for trucks and walking distance from BK but that all I can say good.
