Location excellent right in the heart of the beautiful city of Oviedo- the accommodation is welcoming at ground level but the rooms are dated and could do with some modernisation- overall good value for money
For the price I paid the hotel was ok. The staff were helpful and on the whole the hotel was clean. I had free wifi which is a bonus. The breakfast was the average Spanish breakfast and there was plenty of it. It is central for sites and places to eat and about a twenty minute walk from the train station. My room had double glazing that opened and air con. I would stay again.
The staff is extremely helpful and service minded, the rooms clean, the price very fair, and the breakfast ok compared to average South European standard. You Will get eggs and fruits which is quite seldom. The beds are big and elastic and the rooms contain a fridge which is useful!
This was a very disappointing experience. Apart from the reception area, everything about this hotel was shabby, run down and generally depressing. Threadbare carpets in the public areas are complemented by tired grubby carpets in rooms. Furniture is similarly old and tired. There is no air conditioning in rooms. The toilet requires considerable patience. Be prepared to hold the handle for about a minute, and maybe it will flush. No English language channels on the ancient TVs. Don't understand how this gets 4 stars.
Old hotel with an atmosphere to match. Poor exterior and parking is better suited for a rubbish site than for hire and personal cars. Elevators jerk up and down even though you don't pay the fair for the classic carnival ride which would usually make your stomach churn. Staff barely speak English and mumble Spanish which even a well versed Spanish speaker couldn't translate. Rooms and halls are decorated by my great-great-grandmother or someone of her age and carpet smells like her decomposing body (or is that the cheese from the Austrian retaurant next door). Air conditioning didn't work and they failed to fix it and curtains were broken, a fair representation of the overall hotel experience. Good location but allow 20 minutes before leaving the hotel room if you plan on using the toilet, flushing becomes manul labor making up for their lack of gym. Don't come here unless you plan on spending you're entire time flushing the toilet and fighting the staff for some minor form of service.
A high floor front room gives a great view of the old quarter.lovely big bath ,comfortable beds.staff have little English but try to help.sadly the airport bus NO longer stops outside the hotel but leaves from the bus station 10 minutes Walk away.only downside was the coffee was dire and the breakfast uninspiring.but as the room rate was so good we were happy to get a coffee elsewhere.
Very unexciting , the food serviced to us on our tour was of poor quality, where we the vegetables, just like pub grub, if not worse. The breakfast was crap, the bread stale and nothing worth earthing but an orange. Said 4 stars but lucky it was 3, once again no free wifi. Eat at mc Donald's they have a better choice of food.
We spent one night at the Gran Regent Hotel. Like other travelers mention, the staff is not terribly friendly, but our accommodations were good: clean room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was typical continental fare, but it was fresh. There are menu items to purchase (eggs) if you prefer that instead of continental breakfast. The hotel is located next to some great restaurants. It's within easy walking distance to shopping, parks and other attractions. Parking is available at the back of hotel. We were allowed to leave our car after we checked out. This gave us a chance to further explore this beautiful city. We paid 61€ for one night, including breakfast and parking.
I choose this hotel because the conference I was attending was held there. I think that for the price we paid (around 65€/night with breakfast) was pretty good for what we got. Breakfast was overall pretty good (could be a little better...). The thing that most bothered me was that my bed squeaked everytime I moved! Our room was very quiet. You also have to pay for internet, although it is not very exepnsive (around 2€ for an hour). It has a very good location. We had to leave a day early because of a family emergency and the hotel was great because they didn't charge us the last night. This is a a little, but big detail! Very professional!
This hotel has a great location in the heart of Oviedo. Just set behind the cathedral. Parking is available. Could not believe there are still hotels that charge for internet. Safety boxes are downstairs, not in the room. Besides this the hotel was ok.
