This is a great fancy hotel in a very good and central location. You will enjoy a nice stay in a historical building with a service that deserves 5 stars. PS. One of the best breakfasts I've had in ages!
The impact of this classic, old-style hotel is great, with a magnificient closed inner courtyard. However, some rooms (including mine) need renovation. Furniture is a little old, including scratches in the armchair upholstery. Great breakfast offering. Sauna and messages facilities, no gym. Location is downtown Oviedo, therefore all the city main attractions can be reached by walking.
A friend of mine from Oviedo booked this hotel for us because it is in a very good location to stroll the city and the hotel is very well known by being ground 0 for all the guest of the awards “Princesa de Asturias”. The awards are given at El teatro Campoamor, not too far away from this hotel. You know by its name the hotel is in a palace. Luxury building. We had a good sized room, a large closet, the bathroom was big with marble tile and do not expect wallpaper it is fabric. The staff is first class. They are very kind and professional. The housekeeping crew is always working to keep the place looking clean. Room services is excellent, do not skip breakfast. I had my nails and hair done at the salon located in the basement. ! The girls there are super friendly. Not only friendly they know how to do their job, I was very happy with their work. There is a chapel in this hotel and you can visit it. On the not so good side, the hotel is looks like it has seen better times; it does not matter how much you clean, there is a point when the carpet needs to be replaced as well as many other things. We encountered some problems with the lift and other guest told us they had problems also. The hair or beauty salon is very, very old and functions with the very basics. To tell you the truth I did not use it and turned around and walked away only because I was with my friend (local girl, remember?) and I did not want to hurt her feelings, but once I was with the nail technician I overheard her saying that place was a pocilga! The owners need to invest in this hotel and remodel it. If you stay there do not expect a 5 star hotel.
This is owned by Eurostars hotels. One of the amazing hotels that I've stay until now. This is the hotel that the "Principe Asturias awards" organization booked for the nominees. Very well located in the city center. Top quality. High recommended.
perfect location, perfect style and comfort, very pleasant traditionnal atmosphere, everything and everybody enjoyable...receptionnists, car valet but : room is not cleaned and made up as it should be at such a level of luxury and price: bath robes left on arm chairs, "couverture" not made before night, napkins of breakfast taken in the room left in the room for the two days of stay,as well as glasses used not brought away, vacuum cleaner probably not passed arroyo the room... and car parking too little and full during the week end!!!
The edifice was built in 1777 for the purpose of using it as an orphanage. Nowadays, it is a city landmark used by the Royality of Spain for official functions. Lots of stone reminding one of an old castle. The staff gave a-1 service. The breakfast buffet was extensive with live piano music. The room made ready for sweet dreams at night with a small box of chocolates on the nightstand. The black top hat on the doorman put the icing on the cake.
Beautiful floors and architecture but not so close to the cider street. Our room was also far from elevator. Nice staff but if I return to the city I would stay closer to the action and visit this place as a monument. Otherwise everything else was ok
What can I say... an elegant reminder of how luxury hotels once where. No OTT decor or "boutique" kudos. Good service, fantastic rooms and central to everything without being in the old town. Knowledgable reception staff and a service second to none.
This hotel is in the tradition of grand hotels. The building itself is a landmark in Oviedo for good reason. It is well located, being easy to drive to, parking underneath, and short walking distance to all of the major tourist attractions of Oviedo, without being in the middle of the hubbub. Reception was excellent. We were a bit early but preparation of our room was speeded up to make it available. The room itself was reasonably spacious with an excellent bathroom, comfortable beds and the best wardrobes I've seen in a hotel in some time. We had paid a premium for a room with a view which was over the lovely internal courtyard, where a wedding reception was held one evening. Breakfasts were good without being outstanding. Muesli was Kellogg's packets for example and yogurts Danone. We did not feel like going out one evening and just had a club sandwich in the bar, which was one of the best I've had in a long time. The main lobby is a beautiful and relaxing space to be in. So why only 4 stars? The hotel is getting a little tired, with wearing carpets and marks on the wallpaper in the room. For a hotel rated as 5 stars, this is not up to standard. Also, we were charged E23 per day for parking, which seemed high for a city the size of Oviedo. Nevertheless, if you want a grand hotel experience in Oviedo, this is the place.
Terrific location. Truly outstanding. Huge & I mean huge rooms with King beds. Bigger than our NYC apt. Excellent wifi, no matter how many device. Comes with a terrific breakfast. We travel s LOT. Trust me-look no further. Amazing architecture to boot!
