Good choice hotel in Osaka if you want to be away from the busy areas of Namba and Umeda, but easily accessible via subway which is only a minute away (Tianimachi 4 Chome station) both Chou + Tianimachi lines. Beautiful Osaka castle is only 5 minutes away. The hotel staff are very efficient and friendly, the rooms are nice and clean (maybe a bit dated), laundry room is handy and they have a restaurant (adequate Japanese/Western breakfast ¥1,200). The only negative was no safe in the room.
I chose this hotel because of its great reviews on Trip Advisor and Google. Overall, it has met my expectations: a minute walk from the subway; clean, comfortable, adequately sized room, less than a minute walk from the nearest convenience store, offers breakfast from 7am - 10am with a great variety of foods both western and japanese; all for a very affordable price. Happy to recommend to family and friends.
This is the fourth time I stayed at Lutheran, Osaka. I was quite impressed by its clean rooms and good value and that's why I kept returning to this establishment in the last two years. My latest visit in December, 2017, however, was very disappointing. On the day of check-in, we were located in a room on 7/F, which was one of those rooms marked as "Asiatic Rate" by the hotel establishment while we booked on Expedia. The room, which looked OK , though a bit worn out comparing with other rooms which I have stayed in my last three visits. Late that night, we spotted little cockroaches crawling on pillows and blankets! Yes, cockroaches, not one, but a small herd! This is Japan, not any third-world country! I took the pillow with one of these insects down to the reception, at 2 am in the morning. We were moved to another room, two floor higher. It looked cleaner than the one on 7/F, and we slept well that night. At daybreak, under sunlit, we were shocked by the very dirty head rest of our bed! And then we noticed something moving underneath our pillows: cockroaches again! This time was better because there was only one. I have been to Japan countless times and this is the first time I encountered cockroaches in hotel rooms. There is a first time for everything, I am afraid.
We came back for the second time and still think this is one of the best value hotels in Osaka. Room was larger than the average size in similar hotels and it was very clean. Staffs were friendly and service was great. Our luggage arrived a couple of days before our arrival and by the time we checked in, it was already in our room. From our experience staying at many hotels in Japan, luggage delivery to room is not a standard practice even in much better hotels. Location wise, the hotel is only 1 min walk from station exit and Osaka Castle is just a short walk. Convenience store is just nearby.
We stayed here for 3 nights as a base and travelled to other cities via JR trains. The location is very good, though not near the JR Osaka station or Umeda station, it's near subway which is convenient to connect to the main stations including the Tennoji station. Osaka Castle can also be reached by foot. Not in shopping area, but there are eateries and convenient stores nearby. That makes it a quiet hotel to get rest after all the shopping and sightseeing. The rate is very good for hotels of its grade in Osaka. The room is spacious, clean and well equipped. Will come back and also recommend to friends when visiting Osaka.
The hotel is about one minute from the subway station, near a number of convenience stores and a short walk from the castle. It was more spacious than a number of our other Japanese hotels, and had a fridge and kettle. The bathroom also had a good shower. Everything was very clean and comfortable, good amenities, brief WiFi problems but these were fixed quickly. If you stay here also note the castle is lit up beautifully at night and you can walk all the way up to it.
The hotel is located really close to Osaka Castle, and about a 1minute walk from the nearest underground station. We stayed on a non-smoking floor and our room was perfectly nice; clean and tidy, comfy, not the most spacious room ever, but fine for a short stop over. The shower was really strong and the toiletries were decent too. Other tourist spots in Osaka are just a short underground ride away. I’d recommend this hotel if you’re makijg a short stop over in Osaka.
We spent 2 nights in the hotel. Room: The room was a good size and had a comfortable bed. Cleanliness: Good Aircon: Good Staff: The staff spoke good English and were friendly/helpful Location: Very good, right on top of the castle and museum. Overall: A good clean hotel with a good location.
This is not by any means a luxury place. But the rooms are spacious enough and the location great if you want to visit Osaka and Kyoto without having to pay Kyoto prices, which can easily be twice as high. To get there, if you have been traveling on a shinkansen, you go from the Shin-Osaka shinkansen station to the Osaka train station and then take the Osaka loop line to Morinomiya ststion. You exit the station and cross the street to the Osaka Castle park. You walk about one and a half kilometer towards the NHK and police headquarters buildings and you are almost there. It's just a bit farther down. The walk across the park is very nice. And then you know the way back to get Shin-Osaka station and to Kyoto, which is less than an hour away by bullet train.
We stayed here for three nights. Room is clean and quiet, well equipped with coin launderette in basement which is handy. Good location, 5 minutes walk to nearby subway station, for train to Dontonbori and Osaka Aquarium. 10 minutes walk to Osaka castle. Staff are friendly and helpful.
