Myself and my wife visited Barbados with our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren August 2019. We chose Sea Breeze Beach House as a suitable hotel to stay at after reading the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. It was our first stay in an all-inclusive hotel and we were keen to sample the good service as mentioned in the positive reviews. We visit Barbados 2-3 times a year and have done so for the last 5 years, so I think we have a good idea of what good service is all about. On entering the hotel the first thing we were told was the room tax had increased by a factor of 2 and the lady at reception wanted this settled straight away which we did. We were given a drink and then shown our rooms. The next 2 weeks in this hotel was not what we expected. I have tried to come up with as many positives as I could but struggled after 9. However, I found it very easy to come up with 16 negatives. The pros and cons are summarised below. Pros 1. Good spacious room 2. Hotel well situated near the sea 3. Excellent WIFI 4. Excellent washroom, showers and changing facilities to use on last day after your hotel room has been vacated 5. Good choice of food at lunchtimes 6. Decent choice at other mealtimes 7. Hotel staff tried their best to keep the seaweed off the beach 8. Restaurant staff excelled at re-filling your glass with water and clearing your table 9. 9. Some staff were excellent at their job and made you feel welcome. Cons 1. If you complain, staff make you feel you are the problem and not the guest. 2. No effective security policy within or outside the hotel grounds. Anyone could walk in off the street which we did many times without being checked. 3. Staff did not enforce own hotel rules. People were smoking where ever they wanted and didn’t observe the designated smoking areas. Some guests were smoking weed both in the hotel grounds and in their rooms. “Adult pool” notices were ignored by children in full view of their parents. Hotel staff did not enforce this rule, forcing some adults to move to other areas in order to get away from the noise the children were causing. More importantly and beggars belief were people not resident in the hotel sneaking in to the restaurant and eating food and drinking alcohol without paying. 4. Unfriendly, unwelcoming attitude from a lot of the staff, some even rude. 5. Flies walking on food because food server container covers were poor quality and difficult to open and close. 6. Lack of overall general service. 7. Luke warm food, and orange juice especially at breakfast 8. Restaurant omelette lady was never ready to serve at 0730 breakfast time. On occasions she was too busy feeding kitchen staff over paying guests 9. Constantly asking for room towels and issues with acquiring beach towels. 10. Unnecessary queues at the breakfast entrance, having to give room number and making bookings for food venues for the next 2 days. This blocked the restaurant entrance /exit but staff didn’t seem to care. 11. Beach towels were supposed to be returned at 17.00 at the end of the day but new towels couldn’t be collected until 10.00 the next day. 12. Lack of seating in the main area where the entertainment was held. No other area to relax other than your room. 13. Entertainment poor. Came to Barbados to listen to SOCA/Reggae music not English chart songs. 14. Constantly hassled from beach traders trying to sell drugs and other rubbish to hotel guests, to the point where a fight nearly broke out trying to get rid of them. 15. Had no confidence when asking hotel staff to do anything for you, especially when ordering a taxi to the airport. 16. When asking some of the staff what did they think of the hotel service, they agreed with us that it was poor and probably required new management? The stay at this hotel was an eye opener. It was a great example of how to get it completely wrong. Needless to say it was so bad, we have decided never to visit this hotel again. Well done Sea Breeze, another group of people that won’t be coming back!
We would thoroughly recommend staying at the Sea Breeze if you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday. We have spent 9 nights here and have had A lovely time, staying in a beautifully decorated, super clean, ocean view junior suite with excellent air conditioning (very much appreciated given the unseasonal heatwave!). It was great to be able to retreat and relax after lunch, out of the scorching sun but still able to enjoy the stunning view of the sea and white sand, listening to the sounds of the sea. All of the staff have been friendly especially the two ladies who run the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, always lovely to be greater with a smile and a giggle, and other staff went out of their way to source the wine we preferred as they were running out on our final days, v kind and much appreciated. The Sunday beach BBQ is not to be missed, we even got to see turtles hatching on one night, a magical experience. Our only small gripes would be the room cleaning rota, it would have been helpful if the room was cleaned at the same time everyday so you could try to be out of the room when they came; and, the choice of fish - it did appear they caught the same ‘catch’ on most days but it was always cooked differently and beautifully, so we couldn't really complain but on the rare occasion we did get Red Snapper, it was worth waiting for! Thank you for having us.
Love this hotel , staff great , good great . Compared to a higher class in Jamacia this hotel tops it . The beach is good , not massive but enough room . Pools are good . Entertainment was good . Enjoyed my week here very much . I hope I get back some day .
Would have liked to have been treated a little better on arrival as others seem to have an observation over the last few days,a few of the staff came across as being rude especially in the restaurant's someone may have told them of this still here things seem better now getting the odd smile, rooms are so clean freshly decorated aircon good beds so comfy, have no complaints about the variety of food such a joy to eat looking over the beaches , evening entertainment mainly singers in the lounge bar, beautiful beaches soft sand warm waters, 5 days left and I know im going to enjoy them as much as my first 6, met some good local people out and about and aslo the hotel, so my review not really a moan
Customer service was horrible! Manager walked in me and my pregnant wife room that Sunday telling us that we will supposed to be gone when our reservation was over on that coming Tuesday! All-inclusive resort that actually have a problem with you asking for multiple drinks and food. One bartender sucked his teeth at me because I asked for a pina colada... Then the other bartender told me "he is just tired".. very rude! Also the women in the restaurants were rolling their eyes and giving you nasty looks as you try to ask questions about the meals and supposed reservations to the restaurants. It's obvious that they don't care cause as I'm writing this I'm thinking if all the other reviews I read that were terrible and they are saying the same things and getting the same exact apologies under them. Yes this experience did make me NOT want to come to your beautiful island again! Vacation ruined! Hope this helps future guest!
I don't even know where to start with my review. The purpose of this trip with my family was to celebrate my brother in law receiving his white coat from RUSM. The trip was extended unexpectedly due to Hurricane Dorian. While there, we experienced some kind staff members, 3 in particular, Peggy(gave information concerning excursions) , Magnell(housekeeping), and Shaneisha(pregnant young lady who worked the bar). The majority of the staff were dismissive and rude. One night in particular at Aqua Terra, we watched as the desserts we ordered were given to a family that came after us. Then, we were told they didn't have any left. That same night, my husband went to the bar by the reception area for a drink and the bartender Gordon, smacked his teeth and huffed as if it was a burden for him, a bartender, to make a drink while standing behind the bar at an ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT. That night and the following evening, we invited my brother in law and his fiance to stay in our room because we had some excursions planned as a family that would start early Sunday morning. We paid the extra persons charge and have our receipts as proof. Sunday night after our relatives left earlier that day, I was awakened in the room at around 8 PM by Cherylynn the manager on duty standing over me as I slept. All the lights in the room were off besides the TV. This woman chooses to question me about my relatives and proceeds to tell me that we were supposed to be checked out on Saturday. Mind you, our booking was until 9/10. My husband called my in laws into the room, to which she then changed her tune and decided to go to the front desk to make sure 9/10 was the true check out date. She then proceeded to call the room and tell us that she was mistaken. No apology about barging in on sleeping guests. The following day I discovered that with using the bottom lock on the room door, the doors still unlocked using their room key and my in laws were barged in on multiple times. One incident, which my father in law was not completely dressed. From there, we felt like criminals being watched like hawks. This was my in laws first time at an all inclusive out of the US and I was so embarrassed that they had such a poor experience. Seeing as my husband and I just returned from Dreams in February of this year in Cancun and I went to Royal Decameron in Montego Bay Dec 17. I've NEVER, experienced such disrespectful behavior. One thing I know for sure, this resort will never receive a dime from us again. This resort is beautiful, but looks can definitely be deceiving.
Still waiting for contact from this hotel regarding an incident while on holiday, it seems they totally ignore any issues and just hope they will go away. The place has had a refurb so maybe the management staff has changed...let's hope so.
As a local it was refreshing to be treated with warmth and respect - lovely location, great food, the staff made u feel comfortable and the rooms were lovely. Would definitely recommend it to anyone..
Online photos don't do it justice. The hotel and grounds were really clean and well maintained. Good array of food and drink choices and the service from most employees was first class. Wifi wasn't the best but it didn't spoil the holiday.
Small resort with beautiful beach. 2 Restaurants were small and had limited options. Expected more seafood options no lobster or crab. Snack Bar should be 24/7. Night life after 9pm there was nothing to do. De rum shop was awesome we closed the shop every night. The rooms were beautifully decorated and maintained. The departure lounge was awesome and I wish more hotels had ones like these. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel could use some more activities to liven things up. This resort is perfect for older couples, but would be great for younger couples and families if there were more activities.
