Very basic accomodation, with dirty rooms, very tiny bathroom, no amenities at all. We had a room with windows facing the street - it was very noisy from early morning. Breakfast was horrible - pancakes which were very fat and oily, no meal selection at all. I would not recommend to book this place.

The hotel is nice and clean, the staff is very attentive, they help you booking a taxi to the airport and also were flexible with the breakfast time because we were leaving early to the airport. However, the area the hotel is located is not the best, prepare to walk uphill to get there, also the bathroom on our bedroom was not the most comfortable one, there is very little space to properly sit between the toilet and the shower.

This hotel was great. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Excellent breakfast, beautiful views. The entire vibe is relaxing and wonderful. I must say from the time you check in with the friendly receptionist girls, to the time you check out, is just a really pleasant experience. I will definitely stay here next time I visit Oaxaca.

The service at the front desk was very helpful and courteous! Fani (at the front desk) was very helpful and prompt when we had questions. The only think that could be better is the noise level on the room that we got. We stayed in the room directly below the bar/breakfast area and it is fairly noisy if you want to sleep in late or go to sleep early. Other than that we enjoyed the stay.

This was our fourth visit to Oaxaca, but our first time staying at Casa Mayahuel since it’s a newer property—and what a wonderful discovery it was! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. I have some back issues and we were originally placed on the second floor. When Fanny noticed I was struggling a bit with the stairs, she immediately offered us a main-floor room and personally helped with the move. That kind of thoughtfulness set the tone for our entire stay. Both Fanny and Katya were absolutely outstanding—professional, warm, and genuinely kind. Their excellent English made things easier for us, though we appreciated their patience as we tried to speak as much Spanish as possible. Jose, who took care of breakfast on the terrace each morning, was equally delightful. Breakfasts were healthy, hearty and tasty. and we found ourselves looking forward to starting our day with Jose’s cheerful smile and friendly conversation. Though we didn’t interact with housekeeping often, we always returned to a spotless, well-kept room, and the staff never missed the chance to greet us warmly in passing. The pride in this property is evident everywhere. We were fortunate to meet the owner a couple of times and enjoyed conversations about Casa Mayahuel, his wonderful team, and the city itself. His affection for the hotel and his staff shines through. And finally—the beds! North American–style, with excellent mattresses and high-quality linens. My back loved it!
