I stayed in this hotel over the weekend for my son's wedding. First of all this hotel had no heat in the common areas (halls, breakfast area, lobby), fire exit door past the pool was frozen shut in the inside of the hotel with two inches of ice, the rooms - what to say about the rooms - DIRTY so bad that I went to a local Target to buy bleach cleaning products to clean the room myself. Every surface was dusty and dirty. I would not have stayed if it wasn't for the other guests that were staying in this hotel also. Talked to the management about the issues but they didn't offer any solutions. Even the staff of the hotel were wearing snow boots and winter coats inside.
Stayed in this hotel for the weekend for a wedding. The hotel was very dirty and didn’t realize it was a smoking hotel. The hallways smelled of smoke. The lobby and kitchen area for breakfast was very cold and when you ask for heat, they claimed their having furnace issues and it’s being worked on. It’s so cold in the hotel, that even the girls behind the check in desk had heaters and the cleaning lady was cleaning table in the dining area with her winter coat on. Now for our room. First appeared to be clean until we got ready for bed and found tiny blood spots on the very cheap comforter. Then go to take a shower and notice someone’s used washcloth still hanging in the shower. What the heck. Most hotels also provide mini bottles of toiletries, not used bottles. When to use the lotion for my hands before we left for the wedding only to see that the bottle was used and empty. I get that this isn’t the Hilton. I’ve stayed in Quality Inn’s before and have never seen one this bad. Our poor friends had to move rooms 2 times before finally getting a room that had heat and no stains on the mattress. Very disappointed and I assure you I’ll get a refund.
The staff was nice, lobby was fine, but the room was filthy. See my pictures for a better explanation! All the pictures were taken upon arrival. The toilet had "stains" under the seat, the shower had mold in it, the shower curtain had mold on it. The sink had toothpaste and spit marks on it. The bed was like sleeping on a hill. The middle was flat but the edges slanted. The towels had stains on them. The room just generally felt dirty. The breakfast was OK, nothing spectacular. The pool was very small and i was hesitant to use it due to the dirty room. The internet was SLLLOWWW. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot to work. I got .31 Mbps download and .84 Mbps upload. Less than 1Mbps! I would never stay here again. There are plenty of hotels in the area that aren't filthy.
Everything seemed dirty and sticky. Stairwell filthy and smelled of smoke. I know it was a budget hotel but it could have been so much cleaner. I was never so happy to leave. Would never stay here again.
My wife and I stayed here one night on a motorcycle trip. The hotel is easy to find and has plenty of parking. There is a Bob Evans right next door where we walked to for dinner. Our room was large and very clean with a nice couch and a desk. Free wifi is included. There is a nice indoor/outdoor pool and a hot tub. A hot breakfast was included. We heard no outside noise and slept well. The staff was friendly and helpful.. I recommend the hotel and would sty here again.
I booked this room through a 3rd party for $73/night. It was not worth it at all. Our shower had a small stream coming out of it, the rest was coming out of the faucet and the tub didn’t drain. The sheets didn’t seem very clean and the beds were old and nit supportive. There wasn’t an elevator.
Do not stay here. I wasn't expecting it to be all that great as it was cheap but it should at least be clean and it most definitely was not. The bathroom, especially the tub were FULL of mold and literally had a ring of dirt around the bottom. The shower curtain was so molding at the bottom it was all pink with dark spots. We know that it was not only our room as friends staying here experienced the same issues. When they complained rather than have someone clean the bathroom/shower they were moved rooms where the problem persisted. There was hair on the bedding as if it wasn't clean. There are no individual AC units in the room so it was miserably hot. Would never stay here again. I am not one to be picky and give bad reviews but this was about as bad as it gets.
Do not stay here! Room was dirty. Lights were filled with bugs. There was hair on the bathroom floor. The refrigerator was filled with a sticky red liquid. There was a huge stain on the bed skirt. There were other stains on the bed cover. I didn't want to sleep under the bed cover, so I put it on the floor, thinking it would be taken and cleaned the next day. Housekeeping just left it in a pile and didn't clean it or put it back on the bed. There was a hole in the hallway ceiling that seemed to be dripping water and covered in mold. Outdoor trash cans near side doors were overflowing and not emptied, which made entering the hotel feel not only dirty but unsafe as well. Our key kept having to be reset. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. If our reservation had not been pre-paid, we would have left instantly. This hotel was dirty and disgusting and ill-maintained, both our room and the building and hotel grounds. Staff seemed friendly but unable to deal with issues. Upon leaving and showing the pictures of our dirty room to the front desk, we did receive a partial credit. I understand that management's options are limited, but this did not make up for our disappointment and frustration. I would not stay at this hotel again. If other hotels in Valparaiso weren't available, I would stay in a nearby town or even in a distant town and drive. (I have tried twice to leave a review on the official hotel site--once as part of an email survey they sent me after my stay and once from their web page. I am still waiting for it to post... Since I check every day, I notice they have lowered the price by $30/night since my stay. It is still not worth staying there.)
My company had several people staying here this past February for weeks. While it was not a 5 star hotel, it was clean and acceptable. This past weekend my family and I booked a room for a single night. The best I can say is DISGUSTING. There was mold in the bathroom shower. The toilet paper was just sitting on the counter that had gotten wet and was water damaged on the end. Ceiling damage from previous leaks. The breakfast area had food left on the tables and floors that had been there all day - we checked in at 7PM. It did not look like the lobby had been vacuumed. In checking for bedbugs we found a huge stain on the one of the mattress. The other bed had smaller stains. My son was so discussed that he decided he was sleeping in the car. I fortunately was able to cancel the room with no penalty and book at another brand in town. Neither I nor anyone from my company will be staying there again. The evening desk person was very understanding and worked with Choice on canceling the room.
I recently stayed here and did solely because everywhere else was booked in due part to the fair. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself has seen better days. First off their isn't an elevator so have fun pulling your luggage up a flight of stairs. The decaying hotel shows evidence of age everywhere from broken doors dubbed storage rooms to torn open wall sections. The room I had was fine however! Very clean with a comfy bed and spacious. Also if you want to enjoy the breakfast get there before 9am because for some reason their breakfast only lasts until 9am. 3/5, would stay again but next time I'll be getting to breakfast earlier.
