Booked and paid online for a bedroom for one night on the 28 March via Expedia. on arrival I was charged a second time. I informed the employee at reception of the error, who was unable to reimburse me directly on my card because his manager wasn't there. I have since called their customer service/booking team several times. After an initial mess up, they told me I would be reimbursed within 10 days. It has now been over one month and still no sign of the reimbursement. My recommendation avoid this hotel chain at all cost. Incompetent staff and unprofessional customer care service.
The hostel is also a hotel. I booked it as a hostel and it felt a little awkward when there were people in my room worked the night shift and wanted quite AND to sleep all day. Kinda weird. Otherwise the rooms were large and bright and clean. Breakfast was great and the majority of the staff was very helpful (check in staff was awful. But everyone else made up for it) . Literally directly beside the train station and good wifi so it was ideal for my short stop over and to get my future trips organized.
rightn next to bahnhof. simple rooms, nothing fancy at all, but clean, and a place to sleep. great if catching early train. prices are good. again, it is very very basic, but ifyou want an inexpensive place with a clean room, this place works fine.
We had a family room on an upper floor that was bright and clean, with a surprisingly roomy and well-lighted bathroom. We had a double bed and bunk beds for two adults and two children. The room was reasonably priced and I believe breakfast was included. Breakfast was typical continental fare. The hotel is steps from the station, a major tram hub, and the zoo (which is also great). Our room faced the train station, so we did hear some trains passing overnight. It was not bothersome to us, but we are not light sleepers.
Like every other A&O it looks more like a hotel than a hostel: little atmosphere and everything costs money. Why the small guest kitchen is locked (you need to pay a deposit to obtain the key!) and on a different floor is beyond me. It's either a rather nice 15-20 minute walk to the town centre, or a short tram ride. Still a decent hostel if you just need a place for the night.
This hostal not hotel is located right by the main train station with lot's of local transportation at your door step, a small but nice zoo, and a short walk to anywhere in Karlsruhe. Modest but clean and nice room size, friendly staff. It's however very noisy in the rooms due to traffic on both sides. The back has less motor traffic but a horribly loud ventilation system. When we were there it was pretty hot and it was unbearable without open windows so we didn't get any proper rest for 4 nights. Not the hostals fault but not good. I would have given an excellent if it was not for the noise, in spite of which it's a hard to beat deal.
We stayed for one night. Large room, with a double bed and a bunk bed for kids. Nice and clean. Staff very friendly. Very good breakfast. We were there with two young kids. Everybody was very pleased. Very reasonable price.
Stayed for 10 days for a workshop. Overall it was a great experience. The room I shared with 3 of my friends was clean with good beds, the bathroom was small but had everything in it. Quiet hotel for backpackers, breakfast was delicious. The location is a bit far from the center but being just across the main station. You can easily get to the center in 8min.
I recently stayed in this hostel (which offers private bathrooms and several sleeping beds 2-6) during a weekend attending a conference. I was not impressed with anything, but was also not disappointed. Being right next to the train station was GREAT and public transportation with multiple options are a few steps away. The bathroom offers towels and shampoo.
This hotel, next to the main station is neat and very well priced. Everything is clean and neat, although the hotel has clearly known better days. The hotel offers basic clean rooms and bathrooms within walking distance of everything a tourist wants to see such as the schloss, the university and theatres. There was a mixup with our payment owing to the fact that their admin department posted the payment to a wrong branch of their company, leading to the situation that we had a fully paid stay in the wrong hotel. This was eventually resolved, including an extra top-up payment, which is not ideal when travelling in a group.
