We stayed here for a few days trip to Nice. What a lovely place! Its right in the centre of the city so very easy to walk to most places. It has a very relaxed and homely atmosphere and you feel at home as soon as you walk in to reception on the 1st floor. We booked a superior room for a bit of extra space but the room was still quite small although it was a bright colour and the bathroom had a great shower. The room was ready even though we arrived early which was great. Unfortunately there is no air con at this time of year so it was very stuffy and we were near the street so couldn’t really open the window for some air. We did complain and were offered another room but we decided it wasn’t worth moving just for a day or two. They gave us a fan which did help a bit. Breakfast offers loads of choice and you can easily find something to eat. Coffee and snacks are also available throughout the day. This is an unusual small hotel but definitely worth a visit. We will be back!
PRO: • Friendly staff that thoroughly explained the property and offerings. • Good location in walking distance to many sights and areas including the old town. • Affordable rate. • Decent breakfast selection, although I wouldn’t pay extra for it if it’s not bundled to your rate already CON: • Extremely small room, even by European standards, and I didn’t book the cheapest nor smallest type. • Air conditioning barely functional – the room was very warm and humid, despite the outside temperature not really exceeding 60F during my stay. • Bathroom light broken and never fixed, which wasn’t an inconvenience until I realized it was very hard to shave accurately on one side of my face! • Shower grout covered in mold. • Bathroom mirror rusted and chipped. • Stained/sticky fixtures in the room (like table and chair). OVERALL: The sheets were clean and the price was reasonable, but there is no way this hotel should earn anything even remotely close to its 4-star tourist rating. By most American/Canadian standards, it’s more like a 2.5 star property – maybe 3 stars on a really good day. The attempt to facelift the property by rebranding as The Deck is a nice idea, but poorly executed. The hallways are cramped and dark, ceilings low, and the property feels old and ill-maintained. An old property can be fixed to show its age and still be charming, but that’s not the case with this hotel. The blue paint slapped on to try and hide some misgivings somehow makes the hotel feel even darker and less pleasant. Given that this is a highly rated hotel on TripAdvisor for Nice, perhaps I am just too picky, but I really don't know how the hotel has received its accolades. Either I have unrealistic standards or the vast majority of hotels in Nice are really just that bad. Regardless, I wouldn't use this hotel again.
This was a brilliant hotel, felt really new, room swere small but cosy and perfect for what we needed... Perfect central location to visit all the sites, 2 minutes walk to the seafront etc STaff were really helpful and we will definitely return when we visit Nice in the future!
We stayed in a premium room. It was average. Nothing special. Clean. Modern. Cute nautical themed. Has a bit of an IKEA feel. Breakfast cake with our room. It was an average buffet. The location is excellent! A short walk to the beach. On the way are tons of restaurants and shops. Worth a stay if you’re looking for economical hotel with a great location.... who spends time in their room anyway, you’re in Nice!
Very close to "everything" in Nice. Clean and tidy, and the nicest staff ever. Fresh breakfast with juce and very good coffee. We slept well in good beds. The rooms are not the biggest, but very cosy. And they have a genius system where you can call off the cleaning of your room for one day or more, and you are awarded with a sweet surprise! We had a room on the 1st floor, facing the street, but traffic was never a problem. Will absolutely be back.
The Deck Hotel is nicely located on a busy street. A plethora of cafes, bars, and restaurants are less than 5-minute walking distance. The staff is polite and helpful and will recommend good places in the area. The rooms are clean but somewhat small and the bathrooms even smaller. The big advantage of this hotel remains its prime location at a very close walking distance from the beach and the Promenade des Anglais.
Great hotel, perfect location in the heart of Nice, very nice and kind staff. Rooms are quiet and nicely decorated, apparently refurbished last year: brand new. The common areas have a foosball and a pool table, a nice outside bar. It was just a perfect stay!
The hotel and staff on hand were wonderful. At multiple times during the trip, there was an extra effort to ensure that my needs were met, as well as providing suggestions/recommendations that were fantastic! Staff also assisted me personally with travel issues after my stay was completed. Will definitely be staying here again! Special shout out to Saloua whom went above and beyond. In addition, location of hotel is perfect. Close to the beach and the heart of old town Nice.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the city with easy access to the beach (1 block away) and near the train (10 min walk). The hotel is very modern with a nice style and on the first floor has a bar as well as a relaxing lounge area. The rooms are clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. Most importantly the Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Saloua at the front desk gave us wonderful recommendations! Definitely will stay here again and recommend to all friends and family needing a play to stay in Nice.
I recently stayed here with my mother for three nights and it was perfect. The hotel itself is situated about a 10 minute walk from Nice Ville train station where you can get the train to Monaco Monte Carlo, Juan Les Pinns, Antibes and Cannes. It's also about a 5/10 minute walk from Jeam Medecin tram stop which for 1.50Euro will get you from the airport to the hotel in about 45 mins. The hotel is also less than a 5 minutes walk from Nice beach (which is very pebbly so take wet shoes and some kind of mat/lilo to lie on if you want to be comfortable otherwise its 48Euros for two sunbeds and a parasol per day!) The nightlife around The Deck is also buzzing with countless bars and restaurants all a stones throw away. There are also two supermarkets directly outside the hotel which sell delicious fruit and very cheap bottled water - 20 cents per litre if you get the non chilled stuff from the back. The rooms at The Deck are lovely. Not the biggest but that didn't bother us. The beds are very very comfortable and the waterfall shower is amazing after a sweaty day at the beach. Also worth noting is the air con! My mother always complains that she's hot yet here, the air con was so strong that she had to turn it off because she was too cold! We also had breakfast at the hotel which was perfect for us. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bread with a selection of fruit and muesli and pastries. There was a lovely little bar area as well which we didn't make the most of. We only used it on our last day when we found out our flight was cancelled and needed emergency rose and cheese! Otherwise you could sit out here for breakfast. Another thing worth noting is the staff. I've never encountered such friendly and helpful staff at a hotel. I'm rubbish with names so don't remember any but I just want to say thank you for making our stay so comfortable and sorting any issues we had (toilet stopped flushing at one point but it was sorted by the time we got back from the beach.) We've already decided that when we come back to Nice next year that we won't stay anywhere else!
