Novotel Nice Centre Vieux Nice

The Novatel took a bit of beating on this, my review largely due to the daily jackhammer noise. Otherwise I probably would find a way to eek out an Average rating. In general I think it's important for a property to make prospective quests aware, before they book or visit, that there will be construction taking place during their stay. It's the right thing to do. Location: C+, near the Acropolis Center so if you're going for a convention it's less than a 5 min walk. It's also not that far (15 min walk) to the Vielle Ville and great restaurants and night life. The area around the Novatel itself isn't stellar but it seems safe enough. Lobby: C-, nothing special but with the jackhammer going off in the room I searched for a quiet space to work. I tried the lobby but this particular week was a bit chilly so every time a guest would enter the hotel I was hit with a burst of cool air. I finally found solace in the bar/restaurant area. Dining: C, Before I left for France I was dreaming of the European breakfasts. It's one of my favorite things about coming to Europe. Unfortunately the fare offered was quite limited. Yes, you'll always get a great selection of breads and you can never go wrong with a croissant in France. However I'm not a fan of runny eggs and the meats and cheese offerings were limited. Outside of these things there wasn't much else to offer. The fruit was limited but fine. Room: D, as mentioned the jackhammer made working during the day nearly impossible and unfortunate there were times when i did have to get work done. That aside the room was spacious by French standards with a nice Queen bed, couch, and desk. The entry and exit to the bathtub/shower seemed quite dangerous - it's a wonder that no one has slipped and injured themselves. The "toilet room" is a bit tight and there's an unnecessary door between the entry and the room itself which is rather annoying. Overall I think D is about right but I suppose were it not for the jackhammer I might have eeked out a C. Free internet is a major win for sure! Gym: N/A - didn't take advantage of it - not even sure they offer one

We stayed there for 4 nights and everything was quite ok. The food in the hotel is good, there is enough choice for breakfast: croissants, waffles, charcuterie, eggs, serials, etc. fresh orange juice and decent coffee. The staff was friendly and hotel was clean and quiet. We were disappointed that the rooftop pool was closed but it's quite understandable that main works are done off-season. The room had flat screen tv, small fridge with a complimentary bottle of water every day, bath and safe. It's nicely situated not far from old town and tram and bus stops near by. I would consider staying there again.

It would have been a nice stay if the hotel was actually in the center of Nice and if the pool was actually open. We were somehow disappointed because we were not told before booking the rooms. Unfortunately we will not come back to this hotel again although this Novotel is a very nice hotel with very friendly staff.

We stayed for five nights in this hotel. The property is good. Location is decent. Its approx 1.5 km from the beach. Buses and trams are easily available. People were nice and courteous. Service quality was also very good. We had a very comfortable room. Breakfast was also good. We are vegetarian hence the options were limited but still we had ample food and fresh orange juice. One thing i want to share is that for your commuting to airport, it is better to take uber and don't take taxis as taxi fare is more than double than that of uber. You can get uber late night and early morning as well. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Had two nights here recently and enjoyed our stay...the hotel is within walking distance of the ‘old town’ and the Port and only a ten minute walk to Nice Riquier Train Station (for a train to Monaco/Monte Carlo)...all the staff seemed very friendly and helpful...the room was clean and had a safe, small fridge and coffee/tea facilities...and plenty of choice for breakfast...the only negative was that at the time of our stay the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance...would definitely stay here again

Appalling. We only booked a week in advance and we were not told of the closure of the rooftop pool and terrace for PLANNED building work. We only chose the hotel for the pool. Then believe it or not they were using pneumatic drills on the roof whilst open for guests. Can you imagine the noise? No explanation from staff only told it would stop at 6 pm. The whole company seemed unaware of the consequences of such building work when open and just seemed to shrug. Needless to say we were not the only unhappy costumers. I will not stay at a Novotel again.

We booked to stay here as part of a package. We booked late, but were told we were getting a 'superior' room.. On arrival the roof top terrace and pool are closed for refurbishment. Only notification in the lift and cones on the stairs to the terrace. All planned work but appently not bothered to tell the holiday companies, so that makes it my responsibility allegedly. Tried to move hotel but all pools are closed this time of year. Wasn't told that either. Hotel is clean and tidy. Room certainly doesn't feel 4star. Two paper cups for drinks in a family room, no spoons. Room is acceptable but not superior or special. After two days, the drilling started. 6pm and vibrated through the entire building. No notices anywhere regarding building work, noise, inconvenience etc. Staff helpful to a point and friendly. The room tvs are American biased if you can get and English channel, those are all news corp drivel. The tvs in the public areas are good, if you like football! Otherwise, they just change colour. The breakfast is very good and a wide variety of food. All well presented and efficient. It is disappointing they are selling things they can't offer and I don't think it is worthy of its 4* status.

We came here for a long weekend hotel and staff was amazing. Clean and lovely hotel. We were able to check in early as my birthday weekend and reception man was so kind and welcoming.i would come back and highly recommend this place.

We recently stayed here whilst in Nice and were impressed overall. The hotel was located around 25 minute walk from the beach and the Promenade de Anglais. It is well located near the tram stop and the bus to the airport or Cannes or Monaco, indeed wherever you want to go! There are numerous restaurants nearby and makes a good location. There are a number of hotels in better locations, but they are all more pricey, so for the money it’s a good location. We stayed in an Executive room and were very impressed by the space in the room and the facilities including a fridge filled daily and Nespresso machine. Breakfast was a good selection of continental dishes but also included freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, bacon and sausages, as well as a good selection of pastries. We didn’t eat in the restaurant or drink in the bar, but I never saw anyone else to either...and given the choice of restaurants within 20 minutes walk, so why would you? My only criticism came in relation to pre stay communication. They advertised a roof top pool and in fact this was still showing as picture number one on our day of arrival. This was one of the main reasons we booked here as it did look lovely! However upon arrival we were informed that it was closed due to weather, even though the temperature had not dropped below 25 each day for months! They were in fact had drained the pool for Work to commence the week later. It does look a great pool, however they could have let us know prior to arrival!! I would highly recommend you check this prior to booking as the website does not indicate this being closed all year, even though clearly it is likely to be closed from October to Spring! Overall, however a great hotel for the money and a good location if you are happy to walk a bit to most of the attractions. Would I return, yes I would unless I got a deal on a hotel close to the beach!!!

Looks like the hotel has been refreshed with brand new rooms. Live the new design of the rooms and the lobby. Very quick checkin. Easy access from airport with a Uber in 15/20 min. We really feel welcomed
