Mercure Nice Centre Notre Dame4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel was amazing. It exceeded all my expectations. It's in a great location, right opposite the Notre Dame cathedral and is a 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop Gambatta which is on the route 23 from the airport or about a 10 minute walk to the train station. In the other direction I think it's probably about a 15 minute stroll to the Promenade des Anglais. Amazing. I was upgraded to a Privilege room which has a terrace that overlooked the cathedral which was not only a really lovely (and completely unexpected) surprise but the room was fabulous. Nice and spacious, super clean and all the amenities you need. Reception staff were fast and efficient and the breakfast staff were amazing. There was one lady whose name was something like Liane I believe but she was the main member of the team in the breakfast room each morning and she was fabulous. A real credit to the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of nice options. I absolutely loved it, would definitely stay here again.
We were here for five nights on our honeymoon and it was a lovely stay. The hotel was nice enough to give us an upgrade and when we got to our room, we were delighted to find a chilled bottle of champagne! Thank you! The room was amazing and the view was great. We loved the nespresso machine as well. The staff were all warm and helpful when we asked for advice and directions to Eze. He even printed out the return bus times for us. The hotel is in a great location - right in the heart of the mall. Be careful not to walk past ot though, as we did, as it's slightly around a corner and not street facing. The pool and deck was nice as well. Lovely hotel. We would stay here again if we're back in Nice.
Stayed here for 7 nights on an organised tour with Riviera travel. Hotel was a good base for getting about, we did organised bus trips most days so weren't around the hotel during the day, did not have a chance to use the rooftop pool. Our room was on the second floor looking out onto the garden, room was not very big and there was a lack of drawers to store clothes, there was only a shelf by the side of the bed and no bedside cabinet for storage. Room and bathroom was adequate. Used the lounge on the 8th floor most nights, again this was very compact. Had breakfast every day, this was strange, had most of the european foods like meats, bread and cheese but the only hot foods available were scrambled eggs, chipolata sausages and boiled potatoes??? There was a pot where you could boil your own eggs but they were taking around 15/20 minutes, found out on the last day you could request fried eggs, but there was no sign to tell you that. Plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel and only a 15 minute walk to the promenade where there was a lot going on.
To be fair, the website tells you how big the room is. The bathroom was big enough but the sleeping quarters were snug. Don't expect huge wardrobes. But who cares? * we had a splendid terrace with furniture and great views over the city * the location is well-placed * there are three lifts so not much waiting * adequate number of power outlets * room keys worked every time (must be a first) * reception was immediately available * the staff were excellent Were I staying for more than a couple of nights/taking lots of luggage, I'd book a larger room - but for our purposes this was ideal. Thoroughly recommended.
Ideally situated as a ten minute walk to the train station and 15 minutes to old town and promenade. Difficult to fault hotel or staff and reception were very helpful in getting us a private taxi to the airport. Sky bar and rooftop sunbathing is lovely. Our only minor complaint is that there wasn’t any soya milk at breakfast. We did ask and was told there wasn’t any and that was that. This should be standard in a big hotel chain. Room was clean and comfortable overlooking the garden. Would stay here again.
OK, we arrived to find we had a lovely, albeit compact, room overlooking the garden. We love it. The location is fabulous, right in the centre of Nice. In fact you can walk to just about all the key attractions. Just walking the streets will intoxicate you. The age and beauty of the city is incredibly beautiful. Better still, don't believe all you hear about the French. All the staff have been really nice and helpful. You must go to rooftop bar (the pool is up there too)! Ask for Ludovic! He is a real gentleman and will give you great advice on local wines on the menu and make sure you are looked after. He will even prepare a pretty good meal. My wife loved the vegetable lasagne. I drank the local Rose and my wife had the champagne. Both were lovely and accompanied by snacks like olives and crackers. Also a huge, huge thank you to the young lady (tall, with glasses) on Reception that found my wife an osteopath when her back went out. The young lady rang and got my wife in within the hour. What a great representative for Mercure. Congratulations. We love the hotel ... The only improvements would be: 1. An ice machine for guests. It's a little embarrassing going to the rooftop bar late evening for ice. 2. A washing machine and dryer in the ironing room would be great. 3. A coffee maker in the rooms. Instant is really yuk! Mercure has done really well with this hotel and even better with the choice of staff. Fabulous, and the breakfast is beautiful. The staff are a little lazy but sweet. The food is divine and fresh. It's the first hotel with fresh boiled eggs. I know that sounds funny but it means a lot to be able to have fresh eggs. Even the Hiltons buffets only have trays of poached eggs. Please do take a look at this hotel. I am pretty fussy as you know if you've read previous review, but this one is great!
Having stayed in Nice a few times I wanted a central location easy to navigate from with my 5yr old and this is exactly what this hotel is. The staff where lovely, the breakfast was lovely and the view from the Sky bar was great. The room was a good size (huge double and a double sofa bed) and with a small person having a separate toilet/shower room was a bit of a god send. Not a lot to moan about and would happily stay here again, only downside was the parking - don't hire a car if your staying here just use the available transport near by that's reliable as the car park costs €24 per day! Thank you for a great stay.
The hotel is an excellent location - a short walk from the airport bus stop at the station and close to the tram going along the main street. Our bed was large but there was only one chair in the room. The bathroom was adequate with a large walk in shower. There were two things we really should have mentioned during our short stay. Our wardrobe had just three coat hangers only one of which was suitable for hanging trousers. There were no small bottles of conditioning shampoo or shower gel provided which was a surprise as we had stayed at two other Mercures recently which had generous supplies of toiletries. The green liquid supplied in the shower was hung upside down and stung my eyes.
This hotel is situated in the middle of the city, just a 5-10 minutes walk from Nice main train station. There's many shops around and beautiful cathedral just in front of the hotel. Hotel lobby is elegant and from first steps here we can see that there was renovation. Stuff is friendly of course like in Mercure chain. Our room wasn't so big by also renovated, fresh with nice wallpaper at wall just behind comfortable bed. Breakfast was standard as French Mercure, Of course I must say than in Poland we've got better breakfasts, but here was also good (big croissants are better than small one!). There's a good local transportation (Tram and bus and mention before train) near a hotel. If you want to go to the beach by foot it takes around 20-25 minutes. If you are lazy you can rest at the roof - there's a swimming pool, Jacuzzi! and bar. I think it's really good hotel for a short and long stay.
The hotel has been refurbished but on a budget, door wood damaged, towels threadbare but very comfy bed and very clean. It's position is a good walk to the promenade, the trams were very busy! The train station is a few minutes walk away, on our return to the airport we waited to for the airport bus but it never arrived so we had to share a taxi, so leave plenty of time for your flight
