Stayed here for a week going out to different places by coach nearly every day. Lovely hotel, very clean and decent sized room, at the front, overlooking the stree, but noise level was surprisingly low. Comfortable beds too! The garden on the first floor was lovely, as was the pool and bar on the 8th floor! Would happily stay there again. There were very few hangers in the wardrobe on our arrival, but I requested more, and they were in the wardrobe for us within a very short time. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant!
Just stayed here with my wife for 4 days. Our room was quite large, but we did pay for a junior suite, the location is very good close to the main railway station and the trams. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is let down by several factors, breakfast was very ordinary and the towels in the bathroom were so small and thin is was like staying in a 1 star hotel. If you don't mind the above issues and want a convi Entente place to stay then this is ok.
Beside tram and main shopping street. 10 min walk to beach and market (well worth visiting). Rooms clean but small. Nespresso in room but only 3 capsules left per day. Very good and diverse buffet breakfast if you pay for it. Plenty of eateries locally otherwise for breakfast. Roof swimming pool (cool temp), 2 person hot tub, sun loungers and easy access bar. Great views from here. Bar offers sandwiches rather than main meals. Would stay again. staff very friendly and helpful.
Good things are location, near train station, pool and bar on the roof. I had a superior room and toilet was in a space size of a small closet with no ventilation. That a/c was very weak and front desk told me that it was set for a maximum of 7 degrees below outside temperature. Shower was big. They should have saved dize on shower and increase size of the toilet.beds are average. Window do not open. Can find better for the price.
Had a great 3 night stay here. Location was super convenient for the shops, the old town and not far at all from the promenade and the beach. Rooftop pool was great for a bit of sun-worship, the food at the bar was also great and staff were all extremely professional, friendly and helpful. Would stay again, definitely.
We love this hotel. As always we were pleasantly greeted at reception. The staff are also so polite and welcoming. Our room was on the 7 floor with a balcony. Rooms are always clean and it is especially nice to get free juice and Nespresso coffee provided daily. We really liked the addition of the hot tub on the roof top. Such an amazing view :) The hotel is central and there is an 15 min pleasant walk to the beach (there is a tram for those who don't feel like walking). We had an excellent stay as always, and will prob be back next year too x
Very clever photography disguises the truth. A lick of paint, a new reception and some new furniture doesn't represent a refurb. Located 5 mins from train station in main shopping centre. Not close to anything pretty. Nice reception, rest pretty decrepit with very cruddy & sweaty corridors. New computer area with no USB points!? Very, very old & unreliable lifts. Standard room was like a prison cell (we were ready to walk), superior is better but still poor. Needed renovating, not refurbish & jazzing up a little. Big tinted windows, no openings, probably from 1970s. Tiny bathroom with small pre-formed plastic sink & caravan-style shower. Separate toilet with no airflow, from a time gone by. Not nice. Bed as hard as the pavement. Literally! Aircon hardly works at all & often pumps out cigarette smoke from other rooms. But with no windows, you have no choice. Doors slamming all night as the slow closers are old and ineffective. More hostel than hotel. About a dozen sun beds, be quick! Breakfast ok but boring. Rooftop bar done on the cheap, not alluring. Music too loud. Mostly very nice staff indeed, bar the odd arrogant one. Shout out for Alexandra who was charming and very helpful indeed. We are genuinely puzzled by the good reviews on here. Maybe it's about personal expectations, or maybe people should take their responsibility to other readers more seriously! Our advice - find a nice old but quaint hotel in a better area. This hotel turned what was supposed to be a nice holiday week into an ordeal. We have used Mercure before, but never again. Btw. Nice is VERY expensive. Any questions, just ask.
We arrived late in the evening and was offered a small and cramped room, - "the only available". On request we were upgraded the next day to a great standard at the sixth floor, in fact it saved our holiday. On the top floor there was a nice terrasse bar and a mini swimming pool. As an alternative it's only 15 minutes walk to the beach. The location is good, as well as if the Chagall museum is on your list of target. We were strongly advised by the receptionist not to walk up there; it was very steep, one had to climb etc etc! As true Norwegians we ignored the warning. From the main street it took us 10 minutes to the museum, which by the way was marvelous.
Spent 4 nights at this hotel for a short holiday. Check-in was stated on the email from 14:00. We arrived at 15:00. The receptionist took our credit card details and I signed the form for the guarantee. However, I was then told that the room wasn't ready. We asked when the room would be available but they stated that they would have to check with housekeeping. We were given no apology for the delay, no indication of when the room would be ready and the receptionist just asked how many bags we would be leaving like that was our only option. We asked again when the room would be available and we were still not given a time. I asked the receptionist to call my mobile number when the room was available. We returned to the hotel 2 hours later, with no call, and asked a different receptionist if our room was available. We were able to check in but there was no apology for the delay and the first receptionist that we dealt with before was still at the front desk and ignored us completely, not even a hello. Additionally, the Wi-fi during our entire stay was POOR quality. Our phones could connect but you could not load anything. During the entire stay, the staff were unbelievably laid back and did not greet us when we returned to the hotel each night. We read reviews that staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, I did not experience this. I have stayed in Mercure before and was impressed at the quality of the service from their staff. The stay at the Nice Notre Dame hotel has taken away all my confidence in Mercure's ability to serve their customers. On a plus side, location was excellent and A/C was useful. The swimming pool at the top was also clean and towels were readily available. Considering the size of the hotel, the pool and number of loungers was quite small. However, I will not be returning to this hotel and will think twice about booking a stay with a Mercure hotel in the future. We stayed at a 3-star Ibis hotel just before the Mercure hotel and were delighted with their service. If you want better quality for a better price, check in with Ibis.
I stayed here for 4 nights and was delighted with the whole experience. I arrived at 9am and the reception staff couldn't do enough to try an organise a room. Any staff I dealt with were truly courteous and helpful. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable. The food, service, view and relaxed vibe at the pool were excellent. Breakfast was to a high quality & a great variety of food available. Central location makes it even better, everything on the doorstep with the train station & beach very close too. I will definately be returning.
