A truly brilliant hotel with incredible staff - 5 stars. My friend Sue and I were in Nice to celebrate Sue's 50th birthday and run the Nice Marathon. Our room was immaculate, had everything you needed and the beds were so comfortable! The location is perfect - away from the Promenade but easy walking distance to the beach and old town. The staff were amazing - friendly, enthusiastic and extremely professional. We would go back in a heart beat!
We stayed as a couple this week. Hotel is really easy to find , 10 mins walk to train station, promenade and old town. It’s in a quiet , tree lined street. Staff are excellent and couldn’t fault them . They spoke excellent English . We arrived early in the day and the room was not ready . Staff looked after our cases whilst we went out. There is a lift, staff bought our cases to our room. We could not fault staff, very professional, friendly and helpful . They spent time chatting and advising us on buses, trains and locations , supplying a map and giving bus numbers etc. We mentioned our recent 30th anniversary and had complimentary wine in our room which was a nice gesture . We had a free upgrade. Our room was clean and a good size. Toiletries , tea making facilities all supplied and water in fridge. Bath was also a jacuzzi ! Bed was large and very comfortable . Plenty of storage . We did not have breakfast as we had early starts to Monaco and Cannes. For those who do not have inclusive phone deals , the hotel supplies a free smart phone to use with all costs included !! A great idea. To conclude, we had a great stay and would return .
We have just returned from staying at this hotel they could definately do better as others have mentioned you have to take your luggage up a flight of stairs with no help offered on checking in and leaving whatsoever ok if your fit but saw a few older couples struggling with luggage. Breakfast ok but while there we encountered problems one being the breakfast room being rather small and also there was a group of older women staying who hogged the tables ate all the food which was not sufficently replenished.Next we booked a superior room which had a small bathroom and was not sufficient for our needs bed was not very comfortable. As we got a good deal we probably paid the right price. We will not stay there again also felt hotel was a bit out the way not central at all wouldn't recommend this hotel as a first choice not 4* in my opinion but 3*.So it could do better starting with helping people with their luggage sorting out the breakfast etc.
Third trip to Nice and have stayed at this hotel each time. Fantastic location - walk out the front door turn right and walk 5 min to the train station (30 min to Cannes in one direction or 30 min to Monaco in the other). Turn left and a 5 min walk to the main shopping area. Walk straight ahead and 5 min to the Promenade. Despite being so close to everywhere it is very quiet in the evenings. Missed our first night because of a storm in Ireland that cancelled our flight. Contacted hotel and didn’t have to pay for the night even tho’ I had booked online (with no cancellation). When we arrived lovely message in room with chocolates wishing us well on finally arriving. Reception staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. Room was big and so clean. Lovely hotel - will definitely be back next year.
Reception staff recommended two local restaurant's and they were both fantastic value, great location near rail, bus, main shopping area and the beach. Great rooms and facilities. Only took 30 minutes to get from airport to hotel once we were on the bus.
The location is good .... close to the bus and train links for the Airport. Few minutes to the beach and 10/15 to the old Town. The room was of a good size with a large balcony. The bathroom was adequate but no shower screen over the bath. The cleaning of the room as below parr and the toiletries and coffee were not replenished. The hotel lobby is dark and dismal and the breakfast area is uninspiring and atmosphere less. The checkin was very good and the receptionist was very helpful. After that we were not spoken to again until check out. Would recommend if you can get a good price and want a base in a good area. If you want any extras at all I would look elsewhere.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel and found staff to be very friendly. We had a lovely room with a balcony and found it very comfortable.. The bathroom was fairly small but did have everything we needed. The pillows didn't suit me as they were too bulky and I would have liked the option of a softer pillow. I agree with other reviews that the entrance is not appropriate for people arriving and having to carry their cases up the steps. I presume there is a separate entrance for disabled guests but didn't notice this at the time. I would recommend this hotel as the comments I have made were minor to ourselves but might bother other guests more.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at La Malmaison, loved the hotel, and think it offers excellent value. The location is superb, close to the train station, Promenade des Anglais, Old Town, and Chagall Museum. The room was clean, well maintained, and comfortable, and we loved our balcony. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful with maps and recommendations about restaurants and transportation. Breakfast was fine, nothing exceptional but good selection and quality. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is the bathroom did not come with a shower but with a bathtub and handheld shower head. Maybe it's an American thing, but I prefer a permanent shower head rather than handheld. But that's a small quibble. We would definitely stay here again when we next visit Nice and highly recommend the hotel.
As the name states, this is a boutique-style new-ish hotel in the heart of Nice. The location is pretty ideal, just five minutes from the Promenade, and an equally short walking distance to the train station – or anywhere, really. Overall, we were satisfied, especially because of the convenient location, but there are some issues I'd like to discuss below. The first impression wasn't that great - you have to carry your heavy bags up several steps from the front door – the reception is on the first floor - and not a single person from the staff ever seems to ask customers if they need any assistance whatsoever. How can they not realize, what a bad first impression this is? We went in July and Nice hotels are notoriously expensive that time of year. This is a 4-star hotel, but over 200 euros per night for a pretty small, basic double room seems still a bit too steep – and that was without breakfast, they charge 19 euros per person for that. We had the breakfast a couple of times out of necessity, but it's not really worth it - the selection is ok, but it's really basic continental fare, not really "four star" stuff. The room had a great big firm bed. The overall décor is “modern”, but a bit dark (dimly lit etc). The bathroom was very tiny. Could use more closet space - not enough for two for a week. There is a small balcony, but we didn't find the surroundings that enticing to spend any time there. The receptionist was nice when we checked in, but completely ignored us whenever we walked by afterwards. There is a small bar, which I didn’t really get the point of – never saw anyone there (neither customers or staff). No info on prices, either. There are a couple of negatives that might veer me from staying here again. Firstly, they expect you to pay the whole stay at the check-in. After years and years of staying in numerous hotels worldwide, I’ve never had to do this before. I know it isn't like you don't need to have the money anyway to be prepared to do this at some point (and some customers pay everything in advance), but I still have to question their logic for doing this. Secondly, the check-out time at this hotel is at 11AM. They really should emphasize this more, since there is a penalty fee if you “overstay”. Usually checkout is at noon or later at most hotels everywhere, and I’m glad I happened to glance at the hotel manual the morning of our departure to realize this!
Great hotel. Staff were super friendly, rooms were clean and walking distance to the old town, train station and beach. There is also blue bikes out the front which is very convenient for getting around Nice. We were upgraded to a deluxe suite with a huge balcony and jacuzzi which was a great surprise upon checking in. Only downside was the shower. Unfortunately there is only a hand held shower which is a huge inconvenience in the morning.
